When we travelled to the Marcan this was advertised as a five star hotel, however this is definitely no more than three at a push. The room was modern and clean, no complaints there and the entertainment was good for a small resort. My partner and I felt very disappointed by everything else considering the money we paid. Same food every day, salad left out with flies all over it, food labelled just 'meat' so I dread to think what it was. A lot of guests were ill the week I stayed, a few people saw the staff filling the water machine with tap water which probably explains why everyone was struck with bad tummies. The pool was filthy and many people complained, I caught an eye infection and when I went to visit my Dr in the UK he asked if I'd been swimming in dirty water as my infection was caused by bacteria. Dread to think what was in the pool. I'm really easily pleased but I wouldn't recommend this resort at all. Ruined my holiday.

This is no four star hotel by any stretch of the imagination... As advertised initially. I understand it is now three stars, which is acceptable.
We went just for a week with five other couples(family). I am just relieved it was only a week!
It was the first time I have been all inclusive and it just justified why we had not bothered on previous holidays. The all inclusive is not as advertised. It certainly was not on our stay. We dined out most evenings.
Dreadful breakfast food choice. Hot drinks were awful! Evening choice buffet style, but seriously boring, tasteless and same choices almost every night. We discovered on our second day that there was hot food outside being cooked by a chef! Plus there would be three other alternate hot choices, looked completely unappetising and tasteless again. (Bearing in mind we were expecting four star food and service at the very least!)
Alcoholic drinks: as advertised, so what we expected... Regardless. Don't drink shorts so were not bothered. No cocktails as advertised in brochure! They did not even make them, even though they had a board advertising cocktails!!! No one knew how to make one.
The staff were friendly and helpful, that was a plus. They were certainly understaffed. We saw argument between one bar staff and the manager and the barman walked out. The manager has not got a clue how to run a hotel. Hopefully as long as he does not own the place he has been sacked.
The first room we were shown was down a poorly lit basement type corridor where they also stored the cleaning equipment and cleaners hang out chatting. The room was clean, but it was dark and your view was a wall. They changed our room with no problem. Fortunately we were in block B. If you arrive and get block D ask to change ASAP if you can. It is right next to mosque!., you need A or B. Some of our group in whatever block heard the 5 or 6 am call to pray, we dud not as our room was the furthest side of block B. If you have a room overlooking the pool you will hear the mosque. It's part if their culture and being a lover of history and culture it did not bother me even during the day.
Again no complaints about the room. Cleaned daily. Towels changed every couple of days. En suite was clean and good size. We all experienced this, shower in morning freezing!! So don't just jump in...Fine in the evening.
Pool area: if you want a sun bed you have no choice(depending on time of year) but you have get up at 6 to stake your claim! The pool was not cleaned once whilst we were there. There was debris and butt ends( we were all non smokers) all round the pool area! And were still there for days. There was also plastic drinking cups on tables and floors from night before some were in the pool there was also toilet tissue in the pool...
Decided not to go in pool after second day, when saw this! One day a boy got hose pipe mid day and started to clean and the bits were just going everywhere and in the pool. What were they thinking! There was scumb and silt at the bottom of the pool all around the edge.
Entertainment? What entertainment??? As I say we went out every evening.
Fair to say, fine for three star or below.
We will never return regardless. We are unable to recommend a stay at this hotel because of some of the above, especially the lack of cleanliness in public areas. We would strongly recommend you hire the safe!
The area it's in is fine. Far nicer places to eat out so don't bother with all inclusive as it's not expensive to eat and drink out.
This is a true account. Room clean..a bonus if that's all you bothered by then you be fine..
We are going back to the area this year, but we are all staying somewhere which others have been too this time. Should have done that last time. Had I been the one choosing the hotel, we would not have stayed at the Marcan. Happy holidays, if you stay there or going there, just check you happy with your room position before the porter leaves you there.

Stayed at the Marcan in Sept 13 , as a new hotel we had great expectations , reading reviews as the season went on my stomach lurched , stealing from safes , bar bills not yours but went with open mind and determined to enjoy ! We were pleasantly surprised from the moment we arrived we were treated very well all staff were lovely and couldn't do enough , rooms were well equipped with a lovely large shower , we did ask for a double bed and got 2 singles but pushed them together . Food was great , plenty for everyone and good choice . We did keep out money locked away but used the safe for passports and tickets etc . We both agreed the whole experience was great and would recommend the hotel and would return .

Checked in by friendly reception staff, another man carried our bags to our room even though we originally said no, clean and tidy room, very modern buildings, always able to get sun beds if you don't sleep in later then 10am, the swimming pool is very refreshing, (freezing cold) but that's just the fun of a holiday and also because we went during a heat wave, the male workers do get friendly with young girls. Just a short walk from the Blue Lagoon which is gorgeous and the beach, some very nice views, very picturesque, most of the drinks are on all inclusive, can't really expect anything less, really good hotel, have put forward will be going back for longer in September 2014!!
Some people have said about the mosque, it is loud first thing in the morning but after a night or two you get used to it, as they call out 3-4 time a day. They do have a spa somewhere but we couldn't find it during the week we were there and didn't think to ask.

Room Tip: Bearing in mind there are no lifts, we were in block c level 4, room 3403, facing the pool, it was v...

It is spotlesssly clean, the rooms were lovely .the swimming pool is quite big with ample sunbathing area.

It is a wee bit away from Hisaronu only 1 minutes walk where you can get dolmus bus or on way down, there are bells you buzz and a taxi will be there for you in literally minutes or the hotel can get taxi also.

The staff are incredible especially Necdet he is such an out going young man who loves his job infact all the staff are very nice people and really want your stay to be a good one .
The wifi is free and the breakfast was Turkish but for me that was enough.

We went out to Hisaronu and Olu Denizz every day the towns are just beautiful and the food is incredible .

Thank you very much for a great holiday.

Once again to all the staff at the Marcan keep up the good work

Location excellent, food really good , drink excellent, staff great and we have booked to go back in June of next year.

I wonder if people reviewing realise how much damage they do to a small hotel trying really hard when they pick fault with everything.

We stayed in September. for 2 weeks. Had a great holiday, The hotel is lovely, all the staff are very helpful and polite , Food was nice. i think some people moaned for things like the cleaner forgot to leave towels, well if they just asked they got some. some people looked for the slightest thing to complain about.. In fact the way some people spoke to the staff was awful Its a new hotel and they were asking people to put ideas to them and they would look into trying things out. Not everything or everybody in this world is perfect. We are going back next year, and we are taking family with us. The location is great, not to far from all shops restaurants ,bars and the beach. Also you can walk to the Blue Lagoon Beach. Its a lovely Resort. We met some lovely people. Carn't wait to go back next year. . . .
