Sorry this is a long review but if you're thinking of staying here I've covered just about everything.
Towels to use round the pool have to be collected in the morning at a certain time and returned at a certain time which is annoying if it turns out they have given you one covered in stains or chocolate like they did to us or they give you the wrong amount of towels.
The main Pool closed 4 times that we know of due to someone dumping human waste into it due sun city getting good reviews and competitor hotels getting jealous (so we were told that's why it was happening).
Adult oasis pool is the one we went too but the pool staff kept taking away beds to take to the main pool so there was hardly any beds round it, get there early to get a bed with a parasol. Some waiters will bring drinks to you from the pool side bar. Cleanest pool I've ever been in. Got full of kids when the main pool was closed so it got rowdy being a small pool
Excursions we went on: (all booked through Thompsons)
Dalyan trip: v good get to visit turtle beach with it's velvet sand went in the mud baths etc be careful though at the mud baths as it's very sloppy one man cracked his head open and had to go get stitches.
Fetiye market was hot and busy but the boat trip was nice to cool off in the sea.
Paragliding was amazing and is a must do but do it through sky sports and Thompson as you get brilliant value for money.
Rooms: we had 1202 and 1206
Television signal irritating very hit and miss but good range of English channels with foreign speaking adverts but English programmes.
Rooms 1202 and 1206 not newly refurbished and too near the noisy kids play ground unsupervised and used late into the night which forced me to buy some ear plugs.
small balcony with drying rack, good powerful aircon which you can adjust to your liking, 2 big wardrobes with a safe but it was key only. Shower temp changes when it wanted, the complimentary shampoo etc were old and labels were peeling off which didn't look v professional, bath was tiny and an odd green colour. One bed was positioned under the light switches which were at pillow level so every time you move they switch the lights on and off very irritating. Kettle works and was clean but once you use the sugar it's not replaced. Bathroom door didn't shut properly the door frame was coming off and there's random screws sticking out in random places in the wardrobe and there was a large gap round the door to the room. Only two plug sockets in the whole room one which is in the bathroom. Heardpeople complain of thefts from the rooms also so keep valuables in the safe or with you. Walls are paper thin you can hear everything in the room next door and outside especially screaming kids and parents shouting at it non stop.
Private beach isn't so private, people with no wrist bands or other hotel wrist bands get in and we never saw anybody paying to get in who didn't have a sun city wrist band so weren't sure what that was all about . bus goes a few times in the morning and a few times in the evening but you have to get there before time to get a seat on the way back only about a 5 min journey but not safe to walk. on the way back people not from sun city get in the bus which I don't think is right plus they squeeze you all on not enough seating and if there was an accident there would be hell up. Not part of all inclusive and food isn't the cheapest would've been easy to do as all inclusive no band = no food plus you're not allowed to bring your own food which isn't really fair of then but if you're careful you won't get caught.
Reception depending on who you get you'll be ignored in favour for other Turkish visitors but if you get one of the nice ladies they're very helpful.
The salon is very nice and relaxing we had the family package inc bubble massage mud face pack and oil massage highly recommended.
Maid comes at random times either really early to late afternoon when your getting ready.
Lobby very little sitting available and seating usually wet from swimming clothes even though it says no wet clothing. wifi hit and miss but plenty of bars have wifi.
Tried the following bars for food:
Shanghai blues (Chinese) lovely food reasonably priced.
Help (American food) very popular on the sea front absolutely delicious.
Shadow bar brilliant for entertainment and wifi good laugh and free cocktail if you sing
Dutchman hotel and steak house which was quite nice but very big portions.
There's a Michael Jackson dance group that go round the local bars performing a dance which is alright for one night.
All the bars, restaurants and shops are a 5 minute walk out of the hotel.
Hotel Restaurant v busy, no order and even when you do queue there's other people pushing in . breakfast is the same not much variety gets boring after about 4-5 days only a few waiters do a decent job of cleaning down and keeping drinks topped up you can't just pour you're own from a dispenser like other all incl I have been too.
Snack bar same food everyday but quite nice and a lady does amazing choc pancakes which I miss a lot!
Beware of the Sunday night singer at the pool bar he's awful and goes on past 12 so bring your ear plugs!!
Weren't interested in the hotel entertainment so can't comment on that.
Don't buy water ask the waiters for it at the various hotel bars.
V beautiful hotel just many things let it down (plus kids that parents that let them run unsupervised screaming the place down not good when you're trying to relax.
I'd go again but I'd ask for a room farthest from the playground and pool area and that is a refurbished room, there should be a non all inclusive option too with the vast amount of restaurant options just down the road more suited to some peoples diets.
Note: Late checkout (wasn't a problem for us due to our flight time) but the rep said that it's very hit and miss because of the demand for rooms and being fully booked so if book it before you come if you have a late flight.
All in all it's a brilliant hotel but ran awfully the manager wanders around with his headphones in oblivious to the staff not doing a decent job and letting the place down.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- You’ll find this place tucked at the foot of Mount Babadag. Green hillsides provide the backdrop, so great views are in no short supply. What’s more, there’s a sand-and-shingle beach just a couple of minutes’ walk away. And the world-famous Olu Deniz Lagoon can be reached in ten minutes.Back at the hotel, the pool takes centre-stage. It’s in the shape of a figure-of-eight and is bordered by bright pink bougainvillea and cushioned loungers. There’s a poolside snack bar with an al fresco terrace, too. Elsewhere, an indoor pool and a traditional Turkish bath provide additional take-it-easy spots, while a tennis court caters for the more active crowd. ... more less
