Just returned from a very enjoyable weeks stay at Turquoise hotel where my girlfriend and I were accompanied by another 30+ friends who were all in Olu Deniz to celebrate Kev and Stacey’s wedding. After a fairly long transfer (1hr 30mins with drop offs) we arrived at the hotel quite exhausted and it was nice that the staff were very prompt in checking us in and helping to carrying our luggage up to the room. We were situated in room 226 which I must say was in a prime location and overlooked the main pool and bar area. On first impression the rooms were fairly basic and ours consisted of two beds (double and a single) shower, dressing and bedside tables, a fridge (stocked with a free bottle of cold water), mirrors, hair dryer, and wardrobes with hangers. Alike most hotels I’ve stopped in on previous visits to Olu deniz the balcony was quite small but it was sufficient enough for what we needed (this overlooked the road). Our rooms were cleaned and towels were changed every day which in my opinion was excellent service and the maids were very pleasant never failing to say hello on passing.
Whenever I have visited Turkey in the past I have always been all inclusive and quite often it has been the food has been the main let-down which would result in us eating out instead. However, the food at the Turquoise is the best I have had and there was a wide selection to choose from. There are set times for meals and there is a breakfast, late breakfast, dinner and tea time, in between this there is a snack bar which serves food such as toasties, burgers and chips etc. In addition there is a period in the afternoon where Ice Cream is served to the guests. On the topic of food, the night before the wedding we were all invited to eat in the al a carte and it was a great night and the food was top notch. The al a carte area was decorated to a wedding theme and the tables were rearranged so the bride and groom were at the top of the table, I thought it was a nice touch and good consideration from the employees at the hotel and it was the perfect touch for the main wedding. All the local alcohol and spirits, water, teas, coffee, pop (Fanta, sprite, Pepsi) are free at the pool bar during the day 10am-12pm.
During the day time at the hotel the hard working animation team never fail to keep you entertained and (sexy boys) Ronaldo and Speedy would host games such as crazy darts, surfing, water polo, table tennis, tennis, rifle shooting etc. which would help hotel guests to come together and have a laugh at the same time. The water polo was the best fun for me and I thought our team full of welsh superstars ;) continued to grow as the week progressed and after our opening day mauling we recovered well to finish the week undefeated, I think the lucrative signing of striker big tony made a difference (10 tuborgs and a chocolate ice cream turned out to be a good price). Met some good lads whilst wrestling for the ball in the pool, Kev the Red top sweeper and top bloke in general!! ;). There was another member of the animation team (not sure of her name) but she looked after the kids club and put on aqua aerobics in the pool. She did a good job too. Reading the reviews on this website it is clear that lots of guests take a shine to Ronaldo and Speedy and after visiting this hotel I can definitely see why! Both very good and very polite lads who work always do their best to put a smile on your face whether it’s during the day or in the evening. Whilst at the hotel we decided to have some pictures taken and the photographer is a very nice chap and made you feel at ease and all though he took lots of pictures we were never pressurised in to buying any of them. It was good fun and something that we had a good laugh doing. I would recommend! The pictures are real quality.
The hotel was starting to get very busy and the fight for sun beds was beginning to become ridiculous but I thought it was a nice touch that staff in the hotel did their best to control the hogs and informed all guests that if towels were left unattended for more than a couples of hours then their towels would be removed. In my opinion this was a fair policy and gave other guests who were sitting by the pool a chance to be seated. In my opinion, the hotel was very safe and suitable for children. I was happy to leave my belongings unattended whilst we pottered around the pool or took part in activities.
The hotel is situated at the top of the main strip in Olu Deniz and is about 10 minute walk to the beach front and about 20minutes from the blue lagoon (a must visit). The walk down is very pleasant as you are walking past all the main shops and bars and restaurants so there is plenty going on.
In general we love Turkey and I will definitely be going back and I would definitely go back to this hotel. We had a fantastic time at the wedding with some great people. Some noticeable bars and restaurants that I would recommend that you visit for both food and drinks would be Shadows Bar, The Hangout, Cloud 9 (awesome food) the buzz Bar and HELP Bar.
A real 10 out of 10 holiday with top company, dissaponited that we didnt stay longer :( please make sure you take plenty of sun cream peeps Turkey is boiling and it was getting hotter and hotter!
Thanks to everyone who made this such a great holiday!
