My family have just returned (only yesterday) from the Pine Valley hotel, after staying half board for 2 weeks. I have never written on the trip advisor before, but I have seen a comment, that I thought was unfair, unjust and unkind...... so I want to give you the TRUTH about this hotel.
We are a family of 4, with two children aged (nearly 9, and nearly 5). The moment were arrived were welcomed by JJ the porter who immediately took our cases. We walked past the bar area to get to our rooms and we were welcomed by a couple of workers who shook our hands. The family rooms were modern, and clean. We had a good sized double bed, and the children had a separate room with bunk beds. The bathroom was a good size, bright and modern. The shower water was not cold, but luke warm especially at peak rate times. But if you had a shower during the day it was hot. Our room was near the bar, and because of the good double glazing we could not hear any noise, only if you opened your patio door.
Breakfast is served from 8am - 10am, with plenty of variety, and you help your self. Evening dinner is served from 8pm -10pm (which we did think was a little late, from 7pm - 9pm would have been better)
It was buffet style, helping your self. There was plenty of salad's, choice of soup, and the bread is freshly baked, as in a morning. You had a choice of 3 main meals, which varied from night to night. All very tasty, and often cooked fresh on the grill. You had a choice of 6 / 7 different sweets. There is a lovely BBQ night, which was very popular, and fantastic meat.
The only down side is, from approx. 8pm - 8.30pm (when is goes dusk) you are pestered with wasps when eating, because you are so close to the pine trees. If you sit away from the trees it is not so bad, but as soon as it goes dusk, they disappear. ( You can time your watch by them)
There was entertainment during the day, aqua aerobics, zumba, darts, waterpolo, air rifle. Evening entertainment, always started with the kids dancing (see below) and there was a fire show (very good), Kenyan dancing, break dancing, 3 waiter's doing the full monty (they don't take everything off!!!), bingo, with a chance to win a free holiday for a week for 2 people, free massages, cocktails etc . A foam party and also a film night......
There is a spa down stairs, which I never used, but I was told it was very good.
The best bit was the brilliant kids club, which is run by (british) Chris (the manager) and Lauren The first day we had a look round, the ladies were very friendly, it was very clean, nice and cool, and well run. It was open from 10.30 - 12.30 and again 1.30 - 4.30, also some nights they had a film night and a chocolate party night. The cost was £15.00 per child and half price for any siblings. Well worth the money..... My children usually went in the afternoon, where they played games, made pizza's did arts and crafts, played on the wii and watched films etc. It was professionally run, by signing in and out, and there was cctv camera's as well. My children absolutely loved this. Some nights at around 9.30 Chris would do party dancing at the bar, YMCA, Char Char etc .
We found the bar staff friendly, and we always tried to say hello, please, thankyou, good morning, good night etc they really did appreciate it. They work very hard from morning to night, some speak better English than others, but all are very helpful.
The maids come into the room every day to clean and change the towels. They did not speak good English, but if you try a little saying hello in Turkish they are very happy. They were always cleaning around the hotel in the afternoon, brushing/mopping etc.
There are 2 pools, one a medium sized, and the other on the lower terrace where the water sides are. The water slides are open from 11-12, then 2-4pm. Which is ample. There were plenty of sunbeds for everyone, but we liked the same spot so we went down at 8 o clock ish, with the towels. The pool area's are kept clean and you can only have drinks in plastic glasses, for the obvious reason.
Opposite the hotel is not a building site but an area of open ground, the pavements are a good drop (maybe a foot) from the road, but they are all like this, and this does not reflect on the hotel in anyway. (most places abroad are like this anyway).
We did have a walk into the town quite a bit at night, which is only a 5-10 minute walk. We did go into the Flares bar (almost on a daily basis) to have a lovely cocktail, or even a quick snack at lunch time, as they were cheaper than the hotel food. Veysi and his brothers own the bar, they are lovely people, speaking very good English.
Do the jeep safari, brill day out, and lots of fun. We also went to sugar beach for the day, and we did a boat trip. All very much recommended....
Overall we all loved it there, and would recommend anyone to stay here. WE MISS YOU XXXX
