Would like to give people a little heads up on the blue lagoon and the resort of oludeniz. Wasn't sure about Turkey before this my first visit. My wife assured me I would love it and she was spot on. Wanted a holiday for the family during half term at a good price and all considered that's what we had. What I would say is if your considering going on what is their last week before they shut down for the winter don't go here. We were supposed to be half board and the food was awful. Didn't even get offered food on last three nights. Airtours shouldn't offer anything other than bed and breakfast for this week. The hotel itself is clean and tidy but basic. Staff are really friendly and nice. My daughters had wonderful time. Looking forward to going back next year already as we loved the resort and people.

For what we paid for the accommodation for the week you would struggle to get a city centre hotel for the night in the UK
Bearing this in mind , its a great location at the end of the strip, close to everything but just out of the way of the bar noise - the only interruption we did have was the early morning call to prayers.
Rooms are small , basic , but spotlessly clean , with plenty of plug sockets.
We stayed on the 2nd floor room 154 , nice balcony overlooking the pool and mountains , and a recently renovated bathroom which was nice - walk in rain shower and newly tiled floor to ceiling.
Food - we only had breakfast , very basic offerings , with scrambled egg offered once during the week.
All edible , clean and tidy , but dont expect much , you can get a full english cooked for you @ 13 TL.
The pool is nice , spotless , well maintained which leads onto a nice sunbathing area, when we stayed 7 nights from the 16th October there was no issue with sunbeds - plenty , but i believe this is not the case during the main season .
The hotel was far from capacity whilst we was there , which was nice.
Staff - George is really the only person we had main contact with , nice enough to get along with, we had no complaints so cant comment any further.
There is 2 young waiting staff , a bit miserable , but i suppose there paid peanuts and are at that age - there little faces light when there any attractive ladies around i noticed , so beware ladies !
The chamber maids keep the rooms spotless.
All in all for what we paid it was spot on.
Olu deniz is a lovely resort, we are coming back , so we may pay a bit more for a bit more luxury , but do not be put of staying the Blue Lagoon, there is nothing wrong with it

Great Hotel, ideal location, (could have been worse you could have been staying in the hotels up the top of the hill side & that would cost you in taxi fairs or bus fairs each day! so book somewhere close to stay, or it would be a long walk to the beach!) however this Hotel is really close to the main strip which is a bonus when all you want to do is relax and not feel your spending your entire day travelling around the resort.

Hotel Room.
the rooms were clean and very tidy! the cleaning staff were really friendly. Tv in your room with English TV channels. Cleaners left the beds made up with flowers and towels laid out in a heart shape, very creative and beautiful and it was a nice surprise when we came back to the hotel. it costs £20 for a safe located in reception and thats for a week. £20 for airconditioning in your room if you want it (we didnt need it tbh just open the door) and to hire a fridge is also £20 per week. the only thing i would say is hire the safe. if your going as a couple and both want to swim in the sea or stunning blue lagoon, leave all your valubles in the safe. that way you aint chancing anything going a miss on the beach & you can still enjoy your holiday.

Food.
We had breakfast included in our package which to be fair the food was nice. you had a choice of Turkish breakfast or some english breakfast.. (a friend in the Liberty Hotel said she didnt have much choice at all not even cereal and the food was ****). we on the other hand had a range of fruit, bread, toast, cereal, fresh juice, coffee, tea etc and it was nice food (remember people this aint england so dont have such high expectations as these places aint a greasy spoon near your local). overall i give the breakfast 8/10 (never had a meal in the hotel so can't comment).

we booked B&B and for the price we cant complain at all. (lets face it you don't go on holiday to spend it in your hotel so what more do you want?? other than a bed to get your head down for the night and a bathroom to freshen up in?? on the plus side.. the mrs was happy the bathroom had a hairdryer at no extra cost to use.. might have been the highlight of her holiday that..haha ill have to ask her :-)

I would recommend the hotel, the staff are friendly, helpful, and it does cater for children with a play area as well as pool table and bar for the adults. i would give the hotel a 8/10 rating. and were already looking at booking to go back there next year!

Room Tip: B&B rooms are good, we had a view over the pool and paid the minimum. so anything above B&B...

Spent all of Sept 2013 4 weeks at this hotel never again, we have been to olu deniz for the last 9 years & this was by far the worst hotel of all we have stayed in, the room & cleaning staff could not be faulted, but the evening meal was disgusting unless you were prepared to pay a further 25TL for better food each night per person, we did we ate out I was not prepared to spend anymore in this hotel.Any complaints to the Manager George went unanswered, unless you where part of the drinking culture the staff didn't want to know you, if you don't get your towel on a subbed before 7 in the morning you didn't get pool side, never call the Germans to me over this the Brita are far worse.

Room Tip: Try a different hotel

The hotel was in a good location and kept spotlessly clean. Bathroom was modern and the shower was superb with plenty of very hot water. Bedroom was a little on the basic side but bedding was changed almost on a daily basis.
We stayed on a B&B basis and ate off the a la carte menu at the hotel several times. Each time the food was plentiful and well prepared and better value for money than on the strip. Please note that the half board meals are not the same as on the a la carte choice. However we found the restaurant staff to be very sullen, there was never a good morning or good evening from them even though my husband can speak a small amount of Turkish. The young lads were very touchy feely where young women were concerned, especially Suleyman. I would not wish my daughter to be subjected to that kind of harassment. They also whipped your plates away before you had hardly finished eating. George on the other hand greeted us everyday and was very friendly and helpful, even though we never drank at his bar. Without George we think this place could well go under, he works so hard to keep everyone happy and makes an effort to walk around the pool to chat to his guests, especially at ice cream and cake time, without pushing for sales. We chose to pay our bill on a daily basis. There was the odd mistake where the barman had over charged for our dinner drinks, but it was very easily rectified by the very nice guy on reception. One morning it even went in reverse as we had to tell them we owed them money for our meal, so mistakes do happen but it's not a drama unless you want it to be.
We did enjoy our two weeks but as a resort Olu Deniz caters too much for Brits. There was no real Turkish charm, just English breakfast menus and sky sports channels blaring out. The blue lagoon was also a disappointment to us from how it looks in the brochures, we have been to far nicer lagoons with better beaches.......

Room Tip: Rooms by the bar and pool table are extremely noisy.

This was our 3rd visit to the blue lagoon hotel and there was two things missing; okay & Lefter. They always had a smile on their faces unlike the new 'breed' of young waiters who were so bloody miserable. Members of our party would say hello to them & they would totally ignore them.
I hope the management read my review because I am going to say it as it is. I have read many reports on here & few are a little over the top in descriptions of the blue lagoon hotel & olu deniz.
Firstly George. People either praise him or 'slag' him off. So to put in into perspective George is George. We have been to turkey 6 times now & staff at all hotels are obviously encouraged to get guests to eat there & join in on special nights such as the 'Turkish night'. George is just doing his job which seems to be the culture of the hotels in general. He can be off with you if you don't join in & be your best friend if you do join in. Hope that's explained George. So George if you read this your a good guy but try and change your attitude a little please. Some people like ourselves just use the hotel for bed and breakfast and like to go out and try different restaurants & meals every night. Please respect that in people.
My next point is to the management with regards to the hotel restaurant. The food is poor and needs to be looked at if you are to get people to want to eat there. As an ex chef I like to eat good food. I would advise you to study the trip advisor reviews on the restaurants, visit the best ones, check the menus and replicate them. Food is good for business & if you can build up a good reputation for good food then it's a start. A good start would be the fillet steaks at Bella & gusto. They are close to perfection. I really hope the management take all this on board. Nothing against the current 'chef' but you need additional 'expertise' chefs.
We love the hotel which is very clean and our room which is very basic was fine for us as we only used it for a shower & bed for the night. Our maid was lovely & kept our room clean & tidy on a daily basis. She was the only person we tipped because of her service and the lovely smile on her face. Young waiters please note. Another member of staff who was great was the pool & maintenance man. Always had a smile on his face and was always available to help if help was needed. My 3 stars or 'dots' are because improvement is required. I am being honest unlike most in the reviews. I can't understand boths sides of the reviews people put on here. People that really slag the hotel off are completely wrong because it is a good hotel. And people who give it 5 'spots' are right in one way because they let themselves go relax, and adhere to the blue lagoon hotels way of life, although a true reflection would be 3 because of improvements needed. If the management take all my comments on board the blue lagoon hotel could be in the top 5 in the area; it does have the potential. I would also like to point out a person 'slagging off' olu deniz saying it was great for Brits because it's full of English type restaurants & bars & there were fags in the sea; & the sunbeds were close together on the beach. To that review I would say olu deniz is beautiful. Just look at the wonderful scenery. Yes the beach could do with a clean by the local authorities on a daily basis to clear off 'fag dimps' but other than that what are you after??? If you don't want to eat English there are lots of nice restaurants that serve good Turkish food. Get on a dolmus & pop into fetiheye. If you don't like sunbeds on the beach go over to the left hand side as your looking out to sea. Great spot with no sunbeds & not crowded! Also sample the Turkish culture and go into the countryside. Beautiful. This review slagging olu off was totally uncalled for. I would like a response fro the management of the blue lagoon hotel & please make the hotel better by using some of my suggestions. Plus for your extension proposals look no further; I'm an architect with a good knowledge of sound insulation which is completely missing in your deluxe block which we stayed in last year. If you are a customer trying to decide whether to visit this hotel I would definitely recommend it, it just needs fine tuning. Mark b

Was really looking forward to this holiday but it was ruined by atrocious food. My wife and I have defended hotels in the past against people who have expected 5 star food at 2 star prices but this was truly awful. Food was put out in the evening at 8 o clock and left to go cold Why make a massive amount of chips at one go when it is obvious they will not be needed before going cold. I complained to George early in the first week of our stay and he reluctantly got the chef to make warm fish and chips but rather than take away the cold ones a fresh portion of hot chips were just thrown on top of the cold ones! Anyone coming along later would get the cold ones again.
The choice of food was pathetic and totally repetitive. We ended up having to dine out though we had paid for half board. Breakfast was the usual fare to which I have no objection but we were only offered pancakes twice and omelette once during our 14 day stay.
George was a bully to his staff and they carried familiarity beyond acceptable boundaries. One morning a senior waiter came and sat in my wife's chair whilst she was getting her coffee and proceeded to tell me how he hated working at the hotel as it was rubbish!
On a positive note room was fine and maid service excellent. Reception staff superb and bar staff o.k.
Flights on Freebird were both on time and comfortable with friendly cabin crew.
Olu Deniz is nice but find somewhere else to stay and only go B&B as there are lots of good cheap restaurants.
