“Karbel Hotel”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

We returned yesterday having stayed at the Karbel hotel for 14 nights. We stayed on a B & B basis the breakfasts were Turkish but you had the option to purchase an english breakfast if required. We found the hotel to be very clean and of a good standard with very friendly staff. The rooms were of a good standard a little small but comfortable with good A/C.
We travelled with Thomson and although we did not book any trips with the rep Susan we found her to be very knowledgeable, helpful, approachable and friendly at all times.
The hotel is located at the end of the strip with store just around the corner.
Our only concern during our stay was Wednesday night 25th June the Bar man Eric at approx 00:30 left the bar with the young boys whist he chatted up one off the young female guests. The problem came when at 01:18 when we attempted to order another drink we were told that the bar was closed. When a number of guests challenged Eric the barman we were told that we could have one quick drink and the bar was immediatelly closed. We do not appreciate a residents bar closing early when we are on holiday just so the bar man can pursue his love life.

We stayed here as a couple in June 2013, thought I'd reviewed it but turns out I hadn't. It was a lovely hotel and the pool was clean and very cooling on a very hot day in Turkey. We were half board, breakfast wasn't great for me but my partner found it fine I just ate fruit, evening meal fine and plenty of choice, the salad bits were lovely. Rooms very small but fine for what you use it for and balcony tiny - we never sat out in it too squashed. Hotel is located on the top of the strip and it's a nice walk down to the beach front, you get the usual locals trying to sell you t-shirts, sunglasses, perfumes etc but just say no thank you which is what we did and towards the end of our 10 day holiday they didn't even bother anymore. Got the white minibus into Hisaronu and to Fethiye for the market, very cheap and had aircon on them. Only complaint is we got woken up every morning early by the recording that played at the near by places of worship at prayer time which we did get used to but the first time I heard it, it scared me to death! Overall great hotel. Had photos done by Omar (I think, over a year ago..!) on site very good and were that pleased with them ended up buying loads :)

Firstly let me say our holiday was fantastic and the Karbel was lovely with a view from the pool which made you say wow every day, food was nice and location perfect.
When we arrived it was dark and we were very tired, we decided to go get some food and needed water for the next day so went to explore, I was a bit shocked at first to see the main strip with so many Brits dancing and singing (Brits abroad i was thinking), don't let it put you off because it really was lovely and you can get away from it all so easy.

First tip is get your money changed here, much better exchange rate than England, you don't really need to change anything up in England, just tip a few pounds when you need to and exchange everything else when your here, very very easy, cash points are here also if needed.

We came away with Thompson and one thing I would personally recommend is do the trips like Daylan and Ephesus & Pamukkale, the second one is a two day trip and is very long but amazing, we booked these trips through Seahorse travel when is one the side road where the Dolbus drives past, Alex the guy who we booked it from is great and it's so much cheaper than Thompson who just make so much profit, your coming to Turkey so let the Turkish people earn some money from you not a greedy company.

Quick recommendation for food, if you want glamour then go to the beach front and sit on the roof terrace, if you want a lovely meal with truly amazing food and service find the secret garden, it's on a little street off the Main Street near the soap lady (honestly try it).

Travel, use the Dolbus, easy as that. Fetiye is 5 Lira pp, Hisaronou 3 Lira I think but a lovely little place. Bagadag means mountain and you can have a trip to the mountain and there is a little cafe there.

Biggest tip I can say is only use the supermarkets with the price on the goods, if not the price gets made up, we played a little game with one market opposite where you get the Dolbus from on the beach, bottle of lemonade was 2.50 Lira near our hotel, we went to this market on 3 separate days
Day 1 - 4 lira
Day 2 - 5 lira
Day 3 - 3.5 lira
Always ask a price before you buy and anywhere other than supermarkets haggle, it's fun.
Azda was a good place to stock up on little bits and ice creams are cheap, try the black currant magnum.

P.s if you have heard bad things about Turkey and the people, ignore it, they are unbelievably friendly and very kind. No hassle at all, if you don't want to go in just say no thank you and ask how they are, don't be rude and ignore them.

If you do the trips with Alex that I recommended and you get a tour guide called Arman the tell him Alec said hello Harry, he will understand, great guide 10/10.

Room Tip: Not really sure you can go wrong at this hotel, if you don't like something just ask.

The Karbel Hotel with all its new improvements is better than ever. Having been there several times, I thought that maybe with the loss of the White Hotel it may suffer, but I was wrong. The Hotel is just perfect, right down to the little man who does all the gardens. They were just so beautiful and well cared for.

All the staff were sociable, caring and nothing was too much trouble. The housekeeping ladies work very hard as do all the staff. Our party could find no fault with anyone at all.

This year the food was better that ever, no complaints at all. The chef is truly a wizard creating so many beautiful dishes and main courses. Restaurant staff and bar staff so accommodating giving excellent service.

Names to mention: Ramazan, Ersoy, Ferde, a pleasure to see you all again!

I thoroughly recommend the Karbel Hotel and will be going back again in 2015!

stayed for 11 days with family. my families room was basic yet clean and spacious. our room was awful , like being in a dungeon , I asked to be moved and was moved to a recently refurbished room the second day .
the beds are so hard and that was the worst part of the day 'getting into bed' luckily we were so tired we ddidn't notice to much !
the patios are tiny , if you stay higher up the view's are fanrastic.
the pool area is really good , well kept and clean . as you soaling up the sun or sitting in the shady area of the pool you will see paragliders all day long with fantastic views.
if you want to paraglide I most definitely recommend doing it with gravity as we did , they are regulated and very professional they are on the strip on the right hand side 3/4 of the way down.
amazing experience and we booked with nygel who was a lovely man , infact we booked all our trips with him. dalyan to mud baths is a good day out , dont forget to go on tge sulphur baths after you have showered as so many did .
youll will need beach shoes for beach at bottom of strip as its a bit rocky , otherwise walk to lagoon in twenty minutes or take free bus to billies beach which cost 9 lira pp when there amazing value which is around 4 pp . we saw turtles swimming alongside our pedalo which cost 20 lira to hire and can fit 5 in .
just ask reception staff to send transfer and the buses at billies run every 15 mins also free back to hotel.
we booked the bbq night at billies with nygel 15pp brilliant night meal entertainment , bonfire and free pedalos free transfers .
our guide on trip to dalyan was atti funny guy , great knowlegde easy to understand , worth asking nygel to get atti as guide , he got in the mud baths to , made the day even better .
eating out is easy , no stomach problems best breakfast was cloud 9 at bottom of strip watch all the paragliders land as you enjoy yourself , most have free wifi .
antique bar on left hand side half down strip has lovely staff eunice is great with kids doing tricks and also the magic man himself nlows kids away with his little interruptions performing tricks , nice food , fresh orange .
night time is lively overrated bar is the vip , people who cant sing getting up bellowing out what can be described as noise pollution , indtead try zombie bar for lively or buzz bar , but book table here very popular .
our rep sue I didnt rate highly I made a simple request for 2 chairs and small table for my parents and didnt get them until I asked reception 3 rd time , she was very picky who she spoke to and was clearly more friendly with people who booked trips with her , based on her attitude we didnt book one with her and found it easier and cheaper doing it with gravity .
reception staff were all miserable I dont know why !
the porter guys very friendly
omer the resident photographer was is a brilliant photographer we bought all the photos hes that good and no air brushing although he can do anything !! very professional , he could work for vogue !! nice man too .
hotel doctor was amazing he made a diagnosis and sent my dad to hospital urgently I have to say anyone worried sbkut turkish medical facilities , dont be ! the hospital care and efficient service was second to none , and better than any english hospital ! the doctors were great !
overall even with a few hiccups we had a great holiday and would return to karbel now I know which has best rooms ...ps have a night or two in hisaronu more lively and more shops
