“Great hotel”
Reviewed 16 May 2011

Great hotel, great staff great location, clean lovely place.

Stayed in October with my boyfriend, they were so friendly and nice. The hotel has a great location, 2 mins from the main street but quiet. Pool is great and gets lots of sunshine. Great value for money. Having stayed in 10 hotels in olu deniz in the past year this is in my top 3!!

Would recommend it to everyone!!!!

We stayed in this hotel for 7 nights in September 2009. All I can say is that we were both amazed with how clean the place was, how helpful was the staff and how happy and always smiling the wonderful mades were. We had our room cleaned every day, as well as the towels changed. Rooms are very basic, with a lovely balcony over the pool. There was a lady organizing trips coming twice a week. Paragliding is a very popular sort of activity and you can always see loads of people flying in the sky. Fethiye is the closest town you can visit- there is a great market place, which unfortunatelly we didnt have a chance to see, but the buss can take you there every 10-15 minutes if I remember well.
The location of the hotel is also very good- it's 3 minutes walking to the beach, the hotel is beautifully surrounded by mountains. The beach in OluDeniz is gorgeous, and the water crystal-clear. The only thing that bothered us was that the beach was pebbled. You are deffninitely going to need some sea-shoes, because the pebbles could really hurt you.
Turkish food is also fantastic- we coudn't get enough of delicious kebabs made in various styles!
Overall- we deffinitely recommend this wonderful place and we are planning going back there again!!

Best thing is Location, as pretty quiet and so close to the beach etc, Good pool and some good service. Rooms and all very basic. Most staff pretty helpful and friendly, and guests, you must have the air con and fridge, payable locally extra. We has established that in the room no cups, glasses, kettle etc, so took! Basic services. Not really a restaurant. Breakfast ok, finishes early and very basic. Nice bar at the front and back, in day time can get some good lunch/snacks. Some good sports coverage and live music some nights. All balconies are small, some are postage stamps, bear this in mind and try and get a high floor, away from the front bar area etc, plus noisier there as the street side.

Booked with Thomsons and read some good reports on this site but our own experience was quite different from some of the others on here. This was our 3rd time staying in Olu Deniz in 12 months but our 1st time at the Mavi Belce. Arriving at 3.30am we were taken to room 210 and immediately slept, on waking we found the room to be very shabby and in need of re-furbishment. The bathroom door had soap scum, mildew and fungus growing on it and the shower floor had an uncovered 4inch hole for waste water (just one missed step could have resulted in serious injury) but then again with no hot water for 3 days it was just as well!! The room had very little drawer space and what there was, was dirty so most of our clothes stayed in the suitcases. One of the main problems was the lack of staff, seeing only 2 for the whole hotel and one of these guys was leaving for university on our second day. We actually saw guests collecting and washing dishes from breakfast as there was no-one else to do it. Breakfast consisted of Orange Juice, Bread(with our without hairs),jam and boiled eggs. For some reason all the external lights were turned off early in the evening making navigation of the corridors and round the pool dangerous. After 4 days we had had enough and checked into a hotel we had stopped at before and enjoyed the remainder of our holiday.
The management seemed indifferent to our complaints and had to speak to someone at the end of a phone. It seemed that it was the end of the season and nobody was overly bothered with any problems but isnt money at the end of the season the same as in the high season?
I felt sorry for the 2 guys running round like headless chickens trying to appease everyone but the problems are higher up.
Sorry to be so negative but this is how we found the Mavi Belce without exageration. We have notified Thomsons who are looking into it but I know there was another couple who were in the same frame of mind as us .We are seasoned travellers and stayed in less than adequate accomadation before but this one was well below basic standards.

had a lovely relaxed holiday at the mavi belce, clean bedding and towels every day, rooms are basic but clean found the staff helpful and pleasant, breakfast typical of a turkish hotel of this type. lovely pool and plenty of sunbeds all clean not a mosquito in sight. did hire a safe but left money out on bed table and it was never touched, in a good spot for the beach, shops and bars can hear the bar music if you go to bed early but olu deniz not a huge resort so you would probably be able to hear it in many hotels. will be going back next year for a bargain break in the sun

Hotel is in a good location for the beach but noisy at night. The facilities are very basic and the breakfast room and games areas aren't cleaned at all. We had money stolen from our room on the first day and my parents had money stolen from their room, 170 TL in total. Definately worth getting a safety box but you have to pay for it, we asked the hotel manager what was going to be done and she basically didn't care, it had to be one of the staff as both rooms were locked. The staff can't really be bothered about serving you. I had been bitten by mosquitos every night in the room. It was cheap but I would probably pay a bit more and stay somewhere else.

Not to do with Mavi Belci but if you change sterling into Lira at the currency exchange on the main strip check the amount there in front of them as me and my parents were both short by 40TL , we went back to complain and the guy tried to get out of it before giving us the proper amount.

martin and mo, swinton, manchester. Great hotel really friendly staff especially ozzzie and the cleaners who went out of their way for us even put fresh flowers in room lovely gesture.the only small fault was the limited choice of breakfast all it needed was toaster and more choice of cereal. oul deniz was a lovely place we loved the blue lagoon and we would go back again. just be aware of prices at dalaman airport on return we were charged nearly fifteen pounds for one pint of lager and one coffee in the sports bar so stay clear from there.
