“Another Great Stay at the Karbel Sun”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2012

This is my second time at the Karbel Sun and have already booked again for next year. The staff are really helpful and Ali the Manager is a star. The rooms are very clean and the towels and bedding changed every 3 days. We paid extra and had a de-luxe room which is bigger than the standard room and has a nice bathroom. The gardens are extremely well kept and the pool area is very clean. Felt plastic glasses would be a good idea around the pool as some got broken while we were there and you cannot always guarantee picking it all up.
We went out in the evenings rather than stay at the Hotel bar as there was always football on and we did not want to watch this. It would be nice if the hotel provided some other form of entertainment, other than football and a night of belly dancing.
The food in the restaurant was good and we ate there twice., All in all the Hotel is well worth the money..

Room Tip: Ask for a de-luxe room they are much nicer,

Very friendly staff, beware of mehmet, offering cheap turkish bath ( you can get it cheaper). Room was clean, no kettle, hairdryer was temperamental, bed linen was like a throw, a sheet would have been nice, bed was rock hard and pillow was flat. Got an early morning mosque call every day from mosque nearby. Sun beds looked as if they had seen better days but were comfy enough.Breakfast was poor, no juice just orange or red coloured water, very hard boiled eggs, toast, cheese, spam type meat, olives, tomatoes & cucumber, (all of which i like but wasn't keen on olives for breakfast). Coffee was good though but check the milk it was off a couple of mornings. But did have a lovely holiday, well situated and clean hotel.

This was our first visit to Turkey and were very unsure of what to expect, but as soon as we arrived at The Karbel Sun we felt very relaxed and the pleasant and friendly receptionist Nida quickly made us feel welcome. We booked a deluxe room through Travelrepublic who also arranged our Easyjet flight. The walk through the gardens to Block 5 was delightful, with well-selected shrubs and trees. We had the top floor room and the view across rooftops to the sea was lovely. The room was designed around the roof and so some areas were very low, for example my husband could barely stand straight in the shower, not an ideal room if you are over 6ft! The room was very clean and felt new, with air conditioning, fridge, hairdryer etc. We had an open sky balcony (being at the top we could see all around easily) with 2 chairs, the balcony was approx 4ft x 9ft.

Our stay included breakfast, but we only partook for about 4 of the 10 days we were there, as we found it ok, but a little dull. There are many places to try nearby for some variety. We found Mehmet to be quite persistent at first, going on about buying trips etc through him, we booked one event through him, but when we didn't get another one with him he left us alone.

We enjoyed exploring Oludeniz, we were lucky with the weather as it rained on our first day but the sun shined every day after. Our last day, 19 October reached 35 degrees, fantastic.

We tried many restaurants in the area, our favourites were: Toscana (the Peter Sellers one), Dreams, BellaGusto, Help and Cloud 9 (for a great breakfast).

My husband tried paragliding for the first time with Sky Sports and had a fantastic experience. Michael at the shop explained everything very carefully. We bought the dvd and photos afterwards and it was of good quality.

He also tried the Microlight with FlySouth, again, a good experience.

Days out:We took the dolmus to Fetiye and then the water taxi to Calis Beach (now of James Bond fame). One day we took the dolumus to Koyakay ghost town and walked back to Oludeniz across the hills, this walk (part of the Lycian Way) took about two and a half hours, it was a well-marked trail mostly downhill and a bit rocky in places, so take sturdy shoes. From Fetiye we took a 12 island boat trip aboard the Kardesler, booked at the booth alongside the sailboat, a great day, with lunch on board for 35TL each and no pressure to purchase drinks on board, although the option was there. Also, one day we visited Nicholas Beach, took out a pedalo (22TL) and hired two sun loungers and a parasol (14TL), and spent an enjoyable few hours, relaxing at the shore.

Locally, we had turkish baths at The Belcesiz hotel spa and my husband also had a shave there which he said was excellent.

We took some lira with us but also took some GBPs, and exchanged it with Welsh Gladys at the bag/belt shop (opposite the Karbel supermarket), good rates and carefully counted out! She also recommended a restaurant to us called Phillips, which we found down the next side road, the food was pretty good and they had the best apple tea in town!

We didn't see any wasps, but got three mosquito bites between us, so not too bad in October.

Tip: Don't forget your kettle, you could brew up your own PG tips or apple tea!

Overall a great hotel, a great little town, the people are friendly, there is lots to see and do! We will be back!

Room Tip: The deluxe block is away from the main bar and pool and so is quiet, some slight road noise but not...

This hotel has a fabulous location with everything very close by without the late night noise. The staff are attentive, pool area clean and well looked after (was october though so nail bitingly cold in the water). Couldnt rate this hotel high enough. Didnt eat in the hotel as prefer to try the different restaurants in Olu Deniz however did speak to other guests who enjoyed their food.
The hotels spaniel is such a softy and made us smile even when having to leave for the airport!

Me, me dad and christine returned from an excellent holiday in october. This was our fourth visit to the hotel and keeps getting better every year. hotel has been modernised over the winter which has made a great improvement. The hotel staff, Mehmet, vehbi, george clooney look alike (murat) and manager ali were fantastic and very helpful as usual. I would recommend booking this hotel as the hotel, pool, gardens are in good nick and the food is tasty as owt due to vehbi the head chef exceptionally good cooking and makes a cracking sunday roast. Deffo be retuning soon! :)

The Karbel Sun Hotel is all in all a perfect example of where to stay on a budget holiday.
Myself and my other half were thoroughly impressed with the Service. We were due a reminder that our transport was due to arrive the following day, but heard nothing. That is the only downfall we had. Pool is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery and paragliders breezing above you. Location is very central, but noise pollution isn't an issue. The strip is small, and not over crowded in October. Lucky the dog is sensational. Lovely and Lazy. The Breakfast was fine. Too many punters rate it low expecting a fry up, but for its price, an inclusive breakfast of any kind is a bargain. All staff were friendly and helpful. The sensational blue lagoon was roughly a 10-15 minutes (scenic) walk up the beach.
Overall I'm extremely happy. We paraglided, kayak'd, and ventured on plenty of boat trips and snorkel trips. You are in control of how good it can be!
