This hotel has some good points but far more bad points!.. If your considering booking a holiday here i advise against it but if its too late i hope this review helps you to maybe enjoy yourself!!
On arrival it looked lovely but as soon as we got to the reception the staff were lazy and not very helpful, they didnt speak much english (well we later found out it was selective hearing). They tried to keep our tickets and when I asked for them back they ''couldnt understand'' yeah right I say. After arguing for a while I finally got them back but this was the begining of a horrible stay. We were both so tired that we went to bed straight away and decided against buying air-con but it was so hard to sleep in the heat that the next day we went to the reception and bought it. (I recomend the air-con). That day we put the air-con on so that it was cold enough for us going to bed.. wel.. we went out for our dinner and came back to a room that was WARMER that what it was during the day.. I went to reception to complain about this and the receptionist sent an engineer.. he ''tried'' to fix it which included taking thr fan out (as if that was going to help) and he left again. The air-con still wasnt fixed so we went back up to reception.. they told us it was broke and couldnt be fixed untill tomorrow!!!... Our room was probably 40degreeseC as it was really hot during the day hitting nearly 50 and there was no way we could sleep in that heat.. they werent even going to offer us a fan only that i had complained so much and when they said we could have one they were going to take it away again at 8am!!! I had had enough.. so we stood there refusing to move untill something was done.. finally after about 2 hours or persisting we got our room changed!! The manager was soo rude about this and we never got an apology.. he didnt even speak to us.. just sat ther speaking through his receptionist.
Another problem arose during the week during breakfast when they ran out of BUTTER (an essential) and ORANGE JUICE (another essential).. no alternative was provided for this and we had to complain for 30mins before we could have a replacement drink.. tea coffee and orange was all that was provided during breakfast so orange juice was needed for a nice cold drink. Yet again the management was rude during this and pretended to not understand full english (yet again selective hearing).. they asked for our room number while we complained and we later went back to our room to find that someone other than the maid had been in our room!!!!!!! The breakfast included omlette (plain) fried eggs, tomatoes, boiled egg, limited salad and i mean limited, co co pops sometimes and bread.. what a breakfast it was.. NOT!
Another problem was that although we were only bed and breakfast we were NOT allowed to bring any other food or drink into our room, they searched your bags and room for any stuff that was not thers and then took it!!! (the manager sat at the pool enterence every night to see what you were carrying)
Glasses were not cleaned properly.. they used ther hand!!!!! no towel jus water and ther hand..
Entertainement is in Turkish and never english!!!
There was a new problem that happened everyday, we only stayed for a week so our stay was pretty eventful!!

-If going to this hotel complain allot!! its the only way you will get what you want!!
- Use the free taxi that brings you up the hill to the hotel from the taxi rank (8am-8pm)
-use the metro buses they are cheap and good!!
- If you are young expect to be given a bad room but check it as soon as you go in so you can get it changed!
- dont eat the food its not nice
- dont buy drinks at the bar they are expensive bring it in from the supermarket 'azda' sneak it in in beach bags!! Then hide it in your suitcase!!

If you are looking for a nice place to eat I recomend Robin Hood and Olive Tree they are both really nice but especially Robin Hood as the staff are brill!!
The view from this hotel was brill and the town itself was lovely.. if i was to go back i would stay in the town but never will I go back to that hotel!!!!!!!!

I stayed here with my boyfriend in June 2010 when we visited Turkey for a friends wedding. I have mixed review of the hotel. On first arrival, I was very concerned by its location, up a steep hill in the middle of nowhere, but at the same time, very happy with the size of the room, huge with bed, bathroom and sofa area.
We only stayed a few days so it served its purpose well but I would be more frustrated if I had booked for a holiday.

I would not recommend this place, nor would I, personally, visit again.

Food was terrible & expensive
Location poor - however bus service from end of road to Fethiye / Olu Deniz was very good.
Pool area was average - clean but nothing impressive
Staff were helpful but many odd 'hotel' rules put me off. No water purchased outside hotel allowed in, despite the heat!!

A large group of friends stayed in the apartments also called Artemisia, across the road. These were lovely, nice size with private swimming pools.

I have read many of the reviews and agree with the objective, positive reviews. The location is excellent; yes there is a very steep hill to climb but (a) there is a free taxi service from the taxi rank on the main road (only up to about 8pm), (b) there is a free bus in the morning, returning in the evening, to and from a beach on the Blue Lagoon in Olu Deniz and (c) walking is good for your health! Staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Rooms are large and comfortable with fridge and satellite TV. They are cleaned every day and towels/bed linen replaced about 3 times a week. Yes, there is a rule about bringing in your own consumables, but we, like one other reviewer ignored it re-water, small quantities of beer, fruit and crisps/biscuits. It's not a big deal provided you don't abuse the system and buy some beer/water at the hotel bar. Breakfasts are good with a limited range of cereal, breads, cooked eggs and fruit. Dinners are 4-course: soup (excellent), mezes (excellent), main course (limited range) and desert (good - mostly fruit). It's Turkish food - for goodness sakes this is Turkey not Torquay - if you want English food, stay in England! The pool is excellent - 30 - 40 m length and not crowded in September. Evening entertainment was limited (very good Turkish dancer) but I am assured that mid-season there is an excellent range of entertainment.

There is virtually nothing in Ovacik, but the location is midway between Olu Deniz and Fethiye, and transport is regular and cheap (2-3 YTL ppp journey). It also adds to the peace and tranquillity away from the hurly burly of Hisaronu.

BUT, don't go in the last week of the season (ie. last week in September). Service fell to a low level and all provisions, even beer, were run down and not replaced. This is not good for hotel guests but can be remedied by assertive, polite, insistence. You shouldn't need to do this and it is a black mark against the hotel, but, nevertheless, it did not spoil our excellent holiday.

I'll start with the good; Wonderful Views, biggest Pool in the area, Very clean rooms, staff friendly.
Now the bad; Its at the top of a very very big hill, 50% of the people at the hotel got ear infections from the pool, the manager will remove any food and drink you bring into the hotel (if he sees you), they have a cashless system, which can lead to running up large bills if not paid daily, the prices for food and drink are far far more expensive than anywhere else, at the hotel 5lire for beer, where bottom of hill 3lire, but ur trapped with the big climb, so be prepeared to pay alot more for your hotel lunch food and evening drinks, not enough sunbeds everyday we either got up at 5am or sat on concrete, they had space they just needed to buy 10-15 more beds problem was the villas shared the pool so their were never enough beds, as cashless we could not tip the good staff, the weeks we were their the entertainer got sacked and tbh that was the right thing to do, he abused the guests, was rude and the evening events missed the mark totally and was down right inapprorate on some nights, however it was very boring after they sacked him. The breakfast was the good mix but the same foods for 2 weeks got to me in the end and I gave up going, evening meals being great value also got boring after eating at the hotel three times. main bed was very hard indeed and even though the bedroom was big, it was too small for 4 people to sleep in, our wardrope and bathroom mirror was broken, no hot water after 1900.

This a great resort but the hotel missed the mark if we go back it will be at a hotel not up the hill and with better reviews, only checked this hotel review here on the day we were going, oh well, we still had a great wonderful holiday, met some great ,saw some great sites and ate very well in other places.

Arrived early hours of a Saturday morning for 1 weeks stay, first impressions good. Shown to our rooms which where very basic but served our needs. Good daily maid service. One of the downfalls was the price of the soft drinks, which if you have children can become expensive. One of the first days we ordered 3 x 1 ltr bottles of pop and where charged 30 TL (approx 12 pounds!) for the priviledge. Beer cheapest thing to drink, soft drinks very over priced. I had a group of 11 people and we could have spent a lot of money there if the price was right. A good tip is to pay your bar/food bills daily if you are bed and breakfast. The billing system in the hotel is very basic and some of us got charged for things we did not have. Keep hold of your receipts!! The hotel staff did rectify the errors.

The hotel is situated on top of a hill with a spectacular view, in the heat reaching 40 degrees every day, we used the efficient taxi service down into the town and back, which did not break the bank at all. Dolmus service to Olu Deniz and Fethiye is excellent, at the bottom of the hill is the bus stop which will take you to either place for around 3 TL. (approx 1 pound 20p) each way.

Hisaronu town is a must. Very colourful centre with a variey of food and 'genuine fake' goods as the Turkish like to say. I would recommend a visit to the 'Whiteman' Restaurant where Kemal (the owner) and his lovely wife will treat you like family. We had 2 lovely meals there and will definately visit again. Reasonably priced and well worth it.

We first stayed at the Artemesia in 2008, and wanted to return; we weren't disappointed!
The rooms are spacious and airy, with big wardrobes (with an adequate supply of hangers - how many clothes do some people take on holiday??!!), and kept clean and tidy. The cleaners don't speak much English; to those reviewers who say that the cleaners are "unfriendly", I would simply say - how much Turkish do you speak? I learned a few simple phrases and was rewarded with huge smiles and great delight. The food is lovely; it's more genuinely Turkish than many places in nearby Hisaronu or in Ovacik itself, where English breakfasts and Sunday roasts sadly seem to be the order of the day. The evening entertainment isn't great, but there are plenty of places nearby to go out to. The hotel is up a steep hill, but runs a free service to the beach, and reception will call taxis for you. We hired a car, which I admit helped when the weather was up in the high 40s. The location DOES mean, however, that the hotel is relatively peaceful and the views are wonderful. I agree with comments about the music by the pool - I could do without it - but we had quite a variety, and it certainly wasn't all loud and banging. The issue about not taking your own food and drink to your room, or by the pool, is to do with tax - hotel owners are, I understand, subject to spot checks and can be fined heavily if guests are found to be eating or drinking stuff that has been bought elsewhere. However, I brought in water, a few beers, biscuits, crisps and nuts - and there was never a problem. I also took a kettle, and again, although the cleaners obviously saw it, there was never an issue. The air conditioning isn't the best; a fellow guest took off the front panel of the unit in his room and cleared out the filter, which apparently helped a great deal, so maybe the hotel owners need to put better maintenance in place - but our room was cool enough to be comfortable at night. I've read some of the other reviews with interest. Yes, prices at the bar are higher than in the supermarkets - but that is the same the world over. yes, there were some flies around the food - but the temperature was in the high 40s, so harldy surprising. Any body who was ill during our stay had eaten elsewhere - we ate most of our lunches and dinners at the hotel and were never ill. I like the cash-free system - and you can pay every day if you want to.
I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel, and will undoubtedly be returning in a couple of years or so,
