Arrived in the early hours to a warm welcome and a nice ice cool beer. settled in straight away. slept well and welcomed by our rep who ran us through various trips to go for on our stay. The apartments are clean and tidy and cleaned every day, clean towels are provided daily. sit down, relax and let the barstaff and waiters do everything for you, they are always on hand to make your holiday relaxing and pleasureable. we have no complaints about stay here and will be returning next year around the same time. room 19 is club tropicana..lol.

Room Tip: any room will suit as you can see the med from room 19 at the bottom left corner and they all look o...

Being the honest bod that I am - it would be remiss of me not to mention the few things that MAY cause a few folks some slight issues

1) The call to prayer in the early hours ......
2) The amount of "stray" dogs that want to be your friend and follow you everywhere--and have a habit of joining the call to prayer by howling !!
3) A few wasps around the pool area

However ref the above :
1) You're in another country so their tradition / religion obviously has to be observed
2) The dogs are well behaved , well fed , clean , vaccinated and wont be aggressive UNLESS you give them cause to be
3) The wasps seem to happilly fly away with a gentle wave of your hand / book AND on the upside there were NO MOZZIES !!!

Now to the good stuff !!

Very spacious , very clean apartment. Fridge , kettle , cutlery and plates / cups etc
Only 1 hotplate ring worked in our room tho ( 22)and there was no can opener BUT with the calibre of the food at the pool bar we didnt bother " doing lunch in the room" bar the first day anyway so had no call to " complain" !!!

2 bed setees in the living area and a large bedroom - double bed , chest of draws , dressing table , wardrobe & coathangers - so plenty of space

Linens and towels replaced regularly ( seemed like every other day )

Large balcony & room 22 over looked the pool -with a view also overlooking the sea & small jetty opposite .. it was just wonderful !!

Word of warning in the bathroom though-- very powerful shower ( in a proper cubical and sliding door shower "curtain" ) and VERY VERY VERY hot water all the time - so adjust the temperature to your loking BEFORE you get under !!

( oh and they only provide the 1st toilet roll-- so if u have room chuck a couple in the case ! )

Aircon was a must at £3 a day & was a reasonable price -- less so at £2 a day was the safety deposit box -- so we didnt bother with that --but am sure you would be able to barter the reception manager Suleman down if you tried !!

The pool bars snacks are very reasonable --and all freshly cooked . All of us seemed to get addicted to the chicken sandwich -- half a loaf with lovely slices of succulent chicken , tomatoes , lettuce all for the princely sum of 9 TL ( exchange 2.75 TL to £1 at time of our stay)
Can also recommend the omlettes and the local dish Menemen - unbelievebly delicious !

If you DO want to do the full self catering thing there are 3 small mini marts ( one very close to the appts ) that will suit for the basics on the road into Yalikavak --and a bigger supermarket on the Marina with a bigger selection if you prefer

The walk into Yalikavak is a good 20-30mins and you go past a handful of the fish restaurants who always tried to get you through their doors-- however they weren't too bothersome & if you said you had other plans they were fine ( cant comment of the food there-as we always prefered the main town)

The dolmus stops outside the appartments about every 30mins and is 2 TL per person-- so very reasonable --also if you start walking and its too hot just flag it down as it comes up behind you -- has no set " stops"

The Marina is worth walking through - has a few nice boats and yachts to drool over--also a few shops & restaurants too ( again cant comment as never used them)

The main village is just after the Marina -- again restaurants all round the sea that seem to melt into one another--again all do try to encourage you to eat there --but not too pushy.

The cobbled "main village" is about 3 interconnecting streets where the few souviner shops nestle amoungst the cafes where the locals drink their tea and play a variety of tile and card games . There are a handful of small bars ( some with Sky Sports) but not too intrusive at all. We had some of our favourite meals in the " snack" bars -- all well cooked delicious food -- the bread is to die for ( and isnt something I usually eat)

As far as restaurants go I can recommend Dedes , Indigos and Sofias - all along the same stretch as you come out of the main cobbled area -- Augergines looked very good but we never got there !! ( al the others as I said before seemed to run into each other so couldnt tell you the names to save my life !! )

Beer was 5 TL a bottle of Efes , local shorts about 6 TL with mixer -- imported 10-15 TL ( same for cocktails)

The main grumble I have about Turkey was at least half of the meals we had when we were eating the mezes always had an extra dish materialise --and be charged for as it wasnt worth the hassle moaning ( and we usually ate it anyway !! ) also despite insisting on local shorts - we also seemed to get imported ones brought and didnt notice til the bill came -- ( but this seems to be the norm with Turkey as has always happened when we have travelled even years ago)

The downside of thist for the restaurants is once its happened we never went back again - so whether it was genuine erroe or a way of getting a few more TL out of us they lost out in the long run !!

I can honestly say that after being a diehard Greece fan of the small tiny islands for the last 10 yrs or so - I had forgotton how beautiful Turkey was , how friendly the people were , and how cheap it was to boot !!

Yalikavak was a bit bigger a resort than I am used to - but was by no means massive ! - but with no Macdonalds , no nightclub and no loud nightlife added to the friendliness of the locals , the delicious food the place grew on me as each day passed and I can honestly say if you are happy spending your evenings eating well cooked delicious reasonably priced food and spending time with like minded , down to earth folk the holiday at Yalikavak and the Cimentepe may well be exactly for you too

Room Tip: ask for 20 / 21 / 22 if you can - best views across the pool and bay !

What a lovely place. Its that good that we are going back this year. The rooms are spacious and clean, its just out of the way of the main town, there is a small beach bang across from the apartments. The family run place makes you feel really welcome and they are great with the kids. The food they serve is beautifull and the pool is so inviting. The have a childrens pool which is vital for those with little ones and the views from the apartments is amazing. Can't fault it and that why were going back. You normally avoid all the "scrubbers" as well as its just that bit too expensive for them to stay there so the clientele is good.

Room Tip: Rooms in the 20's are good

From what i have heard, a holiday in Turkey is still a hit and miss affair. The apartments in Cimentepe are very much a hit. The apartments are basic but larger than average, all have balconies and are set in a well maintained garden. During the day its hot hot hot, and the pool is a perfect for dipping in to cool down. In the evenings it gets refereshingly cool, and we never had to use the air con. There are also hardly any mosquitos, although beware the houseflies bite your ankles! The staff are friendly and speak quite good English. The Turkish people are very friendly, and its not unusual for them to offer lifts if they see you waiting. The animals that roam round the grounds are a bonus. Please do feed the cats, some are more tame than others. This is a very adult orientated place and it is all the better for it. There is English tv if you look for it. There are always gripes, but thete are minor ones. It can get noisy in the early hours due to the dogs barking and the mosque starts up around 5 am. I would recommend you bring your own bath towels, as the ones provided are like sandpaper if you have had too much sun. The local restaurants are all good. Try Orsa, Art and Kebap CI. the only exeption was the restaurant owned by the apartments! too expensive and unhelpful. But the snack bar in the complex was good. The safety deposit box was expensive. I suggest you haggle the price.

Room Tip: dont expect to get what you ask for!!!!!! Haggle over everything.

If you want a relaxing holiday, away from the hustle and bustle, then The Cimentepe is for you. If discos and non-stop entertainment are your thing then forget it.. The Cimentepe is situated about a 25 min walk from Yalikavak. But for those who don't fancy that there's a dolmus which stops right outside on the hour and costs 1.50TL.. The appartments are spotlessly clean and though quite basic have most things you need. Lots of hot water, but beware it REALLY is hot so take care in the shower. The staff are the friendliest of people but not intrusive so if you want to be left alone that's fine. It's a real family business, right down to the grandparents dropping by each day for a cup of Turkish tea. The Cimentepe Restaurant is quite pricey but there are plenty of alternatives along the road into yalikavak ( mainly fish restaurants). The snack bar has a limited menu but all is cooked to order and great for lunch or if you want a quiet night in. The balconies are fairly spacious and if you're lucky enough to get a top one the view is fantastic. You can sit and watch the luxury yachts sailing towards Yali marina or the local fishing boats landing their catch at the fish restaurants..
So if you want a relaxing holiday, full of local flavour, then The Cimentepe is for you. We can't wait to book again next year.

p.s. If you don't like it too hot, avoid holidaying in August. Temps reached 46 this year and didn't dip below about 30 at night.. God bless air con !!!!

Great location & views
Excellent large self catering apartments.
First floor has great view of the bay.
Staff all friendly, welcoming & helpful -good hosts
Some local mini markets but plenty of shops in the small town which is picturesque
Regular dolmus service (inexpensive) to town centre as it is a bit of walk (30 mins.) once the novelty wears off
Lovely pool area with sun loungers/parasols, the snack bar was very good and made good use of fruits etc. from the very nice gardens, don't rely on the small beach area in front ot the apartments but the pool is great or you can visit the town and use a bar/restaurant's beach area.

Have just returned fron these apartments. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 2 children ages 6 and 9 years. Spotlessly cleans apartments, grounds and pool. Wonderful Staff especially illmas and suliman ( apologies for spelling!!). Had fantastic Sea and pool view from our balcony. Other people on holiday at the same time were great and it was like been on holiday with friends you had known for years. good mixture of nationalities- british turkish and german families. The children all just played together. All the kids just shared all there pool toys. the staff were especially helpful when our son became ill on the last 3 days of the holiday. They phoned the doctor to check he was in and told him we were on our way, put us in a taxi and told the driver were to take us, sorted out the medication as ot needed reconstitutind ang the instructions were far beyond my basic turkish!! provided sick bowls and even took meals up to the room for whoever was babysitting my son when he was ill and made him toast when he could tolerate it! yalikavak itself is fab. didn't have a bad meal the whole time and especially liked Mustis, Mogul antik, Dedes and kosedes. Will definately return
