We are currently staying at this villa, on day 8 of a 14 day holiday. Firstly, this villa is fabulous. Clean, spacious, well appointed and equipped. Any problems we have had relate to management of it. We booked through Way2holiday and communication prior to arrival was good. They arranged our transfer from Bodrum airport and we were pleased see the taxi driver waiting for us as we left the airport. He did not, however, know the way to the villa and, at our insistence, eventually made some calls to get directions. It was late, dark, and we were tired. The children were especially alarmed when he seemed unable to operate the hand break and we rolled down several hills towards the sea before one of our party spotted the villa and we gladly disembarked. The villa was a welcome sight, as lovely as the photos if not more so. Keen to refresh in the pool we grappled with various keys (marked only in Turkish) to find a way out of the back of the house. There were absolutely no I instructions for anything, either relating to the villa or surrounding area. When we went to go to bed, we discovered that two of the double beds had only a single sheet covering the mattress on them and only 5 towels had been left out for our party of 7. More scrambling around unearthed just about enough bed linen and towels after a considerable search. Other issues were; a cable for Sky was routed through the main living room window meaning that the villa could not be left secure, there was no tea towel, no instructions for the oven (we couldn't switch it on), the last occupants rubbish was left in the kitchen bin, we woke to a cloudy pool one morning, the electricity on the main floor inexplicably failed one afternoon leaving us without aircon or lighting. Most worryingly we awoke to find we had absolutely no water supply this morning. Way2holiday have responded with varying degrees of success to these issues. The pool was eventually fixed after over 24 hours delay during which we were assured pool maintenance had attended and even seen members of our group - this was simply not true. The bed linen, towels and tea towels issue was not responded to. We eventually received an information booklet, on day 3 at my insistence (persistence?) so we finally had some info and contact numbers, albeit very generic and Bodrum centric, nothing about our villa or immediate area.
To counter this, Yalikavak has been a wonderful choice, small and friendly, mainly Turkish yet big enough to have all we need. I can't recommend it enough. A small note, the villa is quite a walk, along the sea front, to shops and bars. It is set in a residential area next to a working boat yard. The garden has clearly been lovingly cultivated over the years and it is only let down by lack of grass cutting/weeding near the pool area and a set of garden furniture (in a lovely shaded setting at the end of the garden, designed as a dining area) that has not been maintained and is so wobbly it is not safe to sit on (reported to Way2holiday, awaiting response). There are five sun loungers and a superb swinging seat/bench which have been adequate for our group of 7 but 10 may struggle.
