“Touristy? Yes, but great fun”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

There is no question that La Cabrera Norte, like La Cabrera right up the street, is touristy. But, it is also great fun. The décor is unique and the wait staff attentive. The menu is extensive and the portions are enormous - was too large to finish even when you are sharing with others. The entrees come with a variety of small side dishes. Our beef was cooked perfectly and we enjoyed it immensely, along with the wine. However, the highlight of the meal was the provoleta - the grilled provolone appetizer. Don't miss it - it's absolutely delicious!!

“Great food and wine”
Reviewed 10 June 2014 via mobile

First dinner with my girlfriend in BA and this was a great introduction to the superior steaks you get in BA. Good service and nice atmosphere in this small restaurant.

Make sure to make a reservation as it's a popular place and only a few tables. Above average price but not expensive.

Thank Straffe

“Don't miss happy hour! ”
Reviewed 7 June 2014 via mobile

We enjoyed a great meal here. Excellent steak, salad and wine. We did go during happy hour though, when they offer 40% off food and drinks. It would have been quite expensive otherwise, we saved more than 200 pesos. Probably not worth it at full price given how many places in Buenos Aires offer great steak!

Thank Mikael C

“Expected Better”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

La Cabrera was good, but didn't live up to the hype for us. We waited for a long time for a table (our fault for not making a reservation and glad we got in!), but the servers put out salami and cheese and champagne for everyone waiting, which was really nice. When we got in, they were out of my beloved skirt steak, unfortunately. We got an ojo de bife and bife de chorizo, and both were a little overcooked for us, and just a bit underwhelming, flavor-wise. They let you pick a bunch of little side items to go with the steak, which is fun, but a lot of them just weren't anything special. All in all, it was a fun place with a good atmosphere and good service, but the meal was just a bit off. Could've just been the night we were there and I'd give it another chance in the future.

“Good not amazing ”
Reviewed 21 May 2014 via mobile

Okay so the steak wasn't as tender or flavoursome as other places we've been too but eating here was still a good experience.  The place is huge and the decor is awesome.  It was packed with locals when we went on a Thursday evening with people queuing out side.  Make a reservation in advance if you don't want to wait.

The wine list is alright, again not as good as other places.  We chose badly but that was our own fault I guess.

Your steak comes with an array of hot and cold little side dishes.  In hindsight maybe we were supposed to eat the cold ones with our bread? Who knows.  They were all fairly tasty although the cold ones all tasted quite pickled.  It was a different experience althought I think I still missed my fries and a good chimchurri sauce.

Service was excellent.  Everyone we met who worked there was very friendly and attentive.

I think this place has been on master chef in Argentina recently too. The decor is amazing.

Still think there are a better steak restos out there tho.
