We stayed one day on CasaCalma, a nice place to rest in Buenos Aires downtown. The hotel is perfect: quiet place, big room, confortable bed, bathroom with jacuzzi and sauna , nice amenities, Nespresso machine, welcome cookies/sweets, good breakfast and a really kind staff.

From arrival, to departure, and even two weeks later as we passed back through Buenos Aires, the staff at Casa Calma was outstanding. We were visiting Argentina for our honeymoon and Buenos Aires was our first destination. We arrived early and were able to check in by noon at the hotel. Later that evening, as a welcome gift for our honeymoon, the staff left a bottle of wine and a very thoughtful note in our room. The rooms at Casa Calma were bright, well designed with very modern style, quiet, and a truly peaceful place to rest our heads each night. The staff (especially Dolores) were extremely friendly, helpful in suggesting and arranging activities (renting bikes, tango shows, museums, restaurant reservations, etc.), and had excellent English language skills. Casa Calma is located in a safe, upscale area of Buenos Aires (Retiro), near the beautiful Plaza San Martin. It is perfectly located for walking tours of the city and near the Subte for easy access to areas such as Palermo. The hotel did lose power briefly for an hour one night during our stay, but it was a quickly resolved neighborhood-wide problem. The staff led us by flashlight to our room on the top floor (9th)...we just considered it some early training for our hikes in Patagonia!

Two weeks after out initial stay, we passed back through B.A. on our way home and had an extended layover. The Casa Calma staff allowed us to store our luggage at the hotel while we had an early dinner at one of the nearby traditional cafes. Even better, they had arranged a taxi to take us on to the international airport that evenning.

Overall we would highly recommend this hotel as an ideal place to stay in Buenos Aires. We will certainly stay there again when we return to Buenos Aires.

This was a really good place to stay with really lovely rooms and fantastic service. Nice touches with flavoured water and little nibbles when you arrive. The beds were totally comfy. Breakfast was a bit average and I had the worst cup of tea I had in Argentina. I would go there now, it's all white and might start to look a bit scruffy in the near future. I think this was really good value for the money - go if you can afford the splash!

From the momnet we arrived we knew we were onto a winner. The hotel was slightly tricky to find as is well secluded on a narrow side street. But after a couple of laps round the block in the cab we spotted it. The welcome was supurb - a glass of infussed water, a comfy seat and a very smiley hostess. And then the room.....goodness, I have to say it was the most stunning room I have ever seen. Decorated in a very modern way but in no way cold - softened with warm and calming green accents. An extreemly spacious room leading onto a semi open plan bathroom. The bathroom area had twin basins, a beautiful jacuzi, seperate walk in shower and then cubicale toilet. The main bedroom had great aditional features such as a relaxing wicker chair and coffee table. The bed was marshmallow soft with delightfully new crisp white sheets.

TWhoever runs this hotel has the most amazing eye for detail and service that really make Casacalma stand out from the rest. For example the mini bar was well stocked with local products at a very resonable price, but there was also a spa 'mini bar' with items that you can use in the room to pamper yourself with. Additonal touches such as a re-usable shopping bag, slippers, robes and ipod dock.
However the key element that made out stay so special were the little service 'treats'. Every evening while doing 'turn down' we were left a carafe of freshly infused water and home made cakes and biscuits - every day. Downstairs there was also a great addion of an honesty bar packed full of drinks and freshly made snacks left out throughout the day for you just to help yourselfs and write up on your rooms 'white board'.

Breakfast was fantastic. Served in the honesty bar on the ground floor of the hotel a wide choice of fresh cakes and pastries, meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, cereals and yoghurts - all to help your selves to. There is also the option of room service for no aditional fee which we took advantage of severla times. Three great set menus are availble to choose from to enjoy in your room with fantasic 'hot' options that did not seem to be on offer in the restaurant.

Staff were very freindly and welcomed us by name by the end of our stay. Nothing was too much trouble and all spoke excellent English. They even made my boyfriend a cake on his brithday as a surprise!

The hotel is in a very central location for visiting all of the main sites although we did feel we were missing out a bit on the night life not being in Palermo. There were though plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance and cabs are so cheap you can travel any where in the city very easliy.

So in short(!) you really must stay here. It is very, very reasonably priced. They even offered us an upgrade on booking without asking. We stayed at 6 hotels throughout Argentina and Brazil over the festive period - some of which were 3 times the price of Casacalma but I would have to say in terms of service and 'little touches' Casacalma topped them all.

From de reception to the check out the staff was perfect, very attencious e dedicated to do a perfect job. The room is quite large and very beautiful, with a very good jacuzzi, althoug in the last day we saw some dirt in the foam, I think from the filter, but nothing that could disturb the stay. In the rest, everything was perfect, every day we receive some amenities like tea and candies, a litlle thing that makes all the difference!

I had selected the CasaCalma Hotel based on the reviews here on TripAdvisor and, once again, was not disappointed. Even better, I was surprised at how luxurious the hotel was for the price we paid. The rooms are large, with an elegant modern design. Our room had a large jacuzzi, a multi-head shower, and a sauna. After a day of walking through the neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires, that jacuzzi was heavenly. Every day, a jug of infused water and some sweets were placed in our room, a wonderful touch. The included breakfast was excellent in terms of quality and selection. The service was likewise top notch. We were there over Christmas and the staff were extremely helpful in finding restaurants (many are closed) and in recommending places to visit. The location is within walking distance to La Florida shopping, Plaza San Martin (and the corresponding subway stop), and Recoleta. The only issue we had was that the wireless internet connection was unreliable, but that is a small issue, as they have a computer in the lobby for guest use. I highly, highly recommend staying here!!!
