Would highly recommend this hostel for anyone wanting somewhere unique and quiet to stay. Ideal for couples or groups of friends travelling together. The location is very handy for seeing all of the city whilst being a little away from the bustle and touristy areas (although the area has some great local restaurants and milongas) We stayed in the double room with private bathroom and found this to be very reasonable priced compared to all other hostels we had researched in Buenos Aires. The decor is lovely and the building very homely and Diego provided us with lots of useful information and an airport pick-up.

Wonderful place, friendly poeple.
Excelent location very close to the underground "E" and "H", twnety blocks from San Telmo!
Very good and big breakfast!
As a suggestion: reserve the loft. Is the best room.
And the Sanchez's are really good guys...

I've travelled a lot and stayed at a great deal of hostels but none where I've felt as much at home as at the Elefante rosa. The house is a beautiful old building, very well kept by the owners, always clean and tidy. It only has five rooms and is decorated with lots of personal items, all with their own story, giving the hostel a homely feeling. It is situated in an area with few tourist attractions, making it a well needed getaway from the frenzy of San Telmo and Plaza de Mayo.

But the real charm of this place is its owners! Diego and Mauro are really some of the friendliest and funniest people you could ever wish to meet. They are wonderful hosts who make sure to give you your own space but if you ever need help they will go out of their way to help you. I was only going to stay at the elefante for one week but ended up staying five! Much thanks to the hospitality of Diego and Mauro.

When I go back to Buenos Aires there is no other place I would stay than at the Elefante rosa!

I stayed there for a week; they picked me up from the airport, which was a great help. I had the 6-bed room to myself; the bad was too short me, but that happens all the time. It was very hot, in the room it was hotter than outside most of the time. The portable fan didnt help a lot. The floor in the room didnt leave white socks white for very long. The room faces a big intersection of Av. San Juan, so dont forget your earplugs! I had trouble sleeping the first few nights.
Breakfast sits in the main room till very late, the breakfast is a normal hostel breakfast.
The owners are calm, nice and helpful.
The hostel is nice and calm, but I was looking to meet some other people in BsAs, for which it isnt very helpful. There were a few other people, but all couples a bit older, so nobody to have a pint with.
The location is okay, but if you dont know the bus system you will need more taxis than when living more in the center.

Room Tip: Need earplugs!

This hostal is located in a very charming building that has a lot of character to it -high ceilings, large windows, and what appeared to be stained glass windows. This is a great place for someone who prefers to stay in a place with more a neighborhood feel, rather than right in the middle of the bustling tourist areas. We stayed in the room with the loft, which was a lot of fun, but the loft was essentially metal grating, which wasn't the most comfortable on feet without shoes. There is a TV in the room and they have wireless internet which worked great. Breakfast is included and consisted of oranges, croissants, cereal, and tea. In the future, there may also be a roof top deck. Outside on the door, there is only a picture of a pink elephant to indicate the location of the hostel. Ring the doorbell and they will fetch you. Once you check in, you will be given a key to your room and the key to the front door, along with a explanation on how to work the locks.

The brothers running this place were very helpful and spoke English. If they are available, they may even offer to take you to the airport for the same price as a taxi.

It was our first time in Argentina. Our first hostel: Elefante Rosa and we loved it. The rooms were goog, the breakfast was fine, the shared bathroom clean. But what Elefante Rosa makes special is the personal touch. Diego tells you where to go (and where not to go), takes his time and let you feel welcome.

Only disadvantage: the hostel is next to a crowdy street. Bring earplugs and you will have the best stay.

We had a 3 night stay after arriving super early from Lima on 26 Dec. Diego was at the airport at 4.30am ready and waiting with a sign. Because of the 2 hr time difference it was 2.30am for us and we really needed a bed. Upon arriving at the hostel, the room was ready, major relief. I didn't have many pesos so Diego changed some for me to get me by which is really cool of him, and hooked us up with maps, restaurant recommendations and general knowledge of BsAs. Whilst we are not returning to this hostel when back in BsAs in Jan, there was no issue in us leaving our bags - Diego even gave us the tags to label them up. There is a totally different feel of hospitality here, its unique and homely. We loved this place. The area is great, lots of small supermarkets, and excellent restaurants nearby at Boedo. The subte connects well to the area with 2 stations served by 2 different lines. We walked to San Telmo, about 20 mins and took in BsAs as we strolled. Back to the hostel.......private double wih shared bath was perfect for us. Huge room with high ceilings. The temperatures are soaring at 35C but you dont feel it inside with the high ceilings and fans. This place is immaculate, very well looked after. Bathrooms are clean, very powerful showers and no hot water issues. The hostel is in a restored building, and has been restored very well. It is a safe and secure place, and nothing made us feel uneasy. San Juan Ave has amazing ice cream parlours and its nice to see everyday Paternos hanging out at the pizzeria wih some beers after football training. We did all of the touristic areas in BsAs during the 3 days, but always returned to Boedo for dinner. Cafe Margot was amazing, both times. It was awesome dining with all of the locals during the festive season. The mix of location, service, quality, flexibility and uniqueness clearly warrant the highest rating possible. This truly is like you have hit jackpot with accomodation in Argentina. Enjoy your stay.
