Hotel Boutique Raco de Buenos Aires
Ranked #157 of 440 Hotels in Buenos Aires
Reviewed 28 November 2013

Based on excellent TripAdvisor reviews, my wife and I recently spent nearly two weeks at this hotel. On a protracted campaign to spend our kid’s inheritance, we have stayed in many dozens of hotels and B&B’s (especially in Europe). In comparison with all of these accommodations, the staff of the Hotel Boutique Raco de Buenos Aires clearly deserves our rating as the best (#1). We are particularly appreciative of the warm, friendly and most helpful advice of Natalie and Virginia. This is a very ‘cool’ hotel with great (comfortable) rooms, a beautiful courtyard (where you can have breakfast) and a classic building from the early 1900’s. A short walk from the hotel is the metro (subway) stop ‘Castro Barros’ providing trains that whisk you to city center. If you are looking for a small quaint boutique hotel at a great price with a superb staff and outstanding ambience, then do yourself a favor and book a room here. If this type of accommodation suits your preference, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Top floor room highly recommended.

This is a lovely hotel in a residential area outside the main city of Buenos Aires. They had a very nice driver pick me up at the airport who gave me good info on the city, which cabs to take, not to take, and he also took me back to the airport.
The breakfast was adequate, coffee good. The woman who ran the front desk were very helpful, friendly and always willing to help find anything you wanted.
The rooms were lovely, and very quant.

Room Tip: I had the room at the top with stairs to the bed room. If you don't want to go up and down to t...

Julian and his staff were very helpful and friendly. We started off with advice to use the subway and graduated to the buses within a couple of days. Beware of El Boca where we got ripped off for breakfast. We should have stuck with Las Violetta as recommended by this hotel - it was always good value. Similarly the parillado round the corner was much better value than the tourist haunts downtown. Great location, great people!

Room Tip: Even though our room was downstairs near the front, it was still very quiet.

We stayed at Raco for five days and five nights. We were very pleased with the choice. Everyone spoke English, most VERY well. The whole family agreed the score should be Excellent. The reason is the details and the service mindness. There was nothing that the staff could not help with, they even borrowed us their bus card. World class. They are the reason our five day Buenos Aires adventure was a success.

well managed and friendly staff - they make the place. Rooms are old but clean although bathrooms have been modernised. Breakfast selection is poor - a variety of breads mainly. Location is in the suburbs - a 2 block walk to metro so if you want to get straight into the town it takes some time. The TV had no English speaking programmes just endless football and "gooooooooooaaals". Its better than average but not very good - 3.5 stars

Dear guest,
Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We really appreciate it and are glad to know you enjoyed your stay.

As concerns breakfast, a typical one in Buenos Aires, would consist of only coffee and croissants. Nevertheless, our general breakfast includes coffee, tea, chocolate and milk, orange juice, croissants, fruit salad, yogurth, cereals, toast, sandwiches, and scrambled eggs, if requested. If a guest requires any additional product, for instance, according to a special meal plan, it will be included at no extra cost. Keep in mind that breakfast is only included when booking directly with us.

Moreover, even though it is only a detail, we would like to clarify that Argentinean TV has several English speaking programmes, although it might be possible that you were here while there was a major power cut in the city, which damaged many broadcasting networks for quite a few days.

Last but not least, the importance of staying in a particular neighborhood has to do with your own interests. Many people come to Buenos Aires and think Palermo or Recoleta are the main spots, but actually the city has many other highlights and we happen to be in the middle of all of them. This is an absolutely safe area for tourists; we have never had any kind of issues in that respect. We are located in a calm and residential area.
It is a fact that you do need to take a bus or the subway to get to certain areas around the city, but, on the other hand, our guests get to enjoy different advantages of our neighborhood, such as tranquility and safety, which you won’t find in several other districts.

We have just spent 5 nights at this hotel in November 2013. It has been an excellent base from which to see the city, close to the metro(Subte) yet it was quiet at night so we slept very well. The hotel is in a beautiful old building that has been renovated tastefully with small but modern bathrooms. Julian and his staff were extremely helpful, spoke perfect English and gave lots of advice about what to do, where to go and also what to avoid. The area has a lovely old fashioned cafe called Las Violettas and an excellent traditional restaurant Lo de Rosendo.

We would like to let our guests know that the Hotel is strategically located in the geographical center of the city as a great starting point to all neighborhoods and main sights. An antique house, built in 1904, Racó de Buenos Aires is nestled in a calm and safe residential area, situated only 3 blocks from the metro and a 15 min taxi ride to any of the interesting spots.
You may find restaurants, bars, and a large commercial area in the surroundings, the Basilica of San Carlos Borromeo, as well as parks, fairs, and access to several bus lines.
