We stayed at Carlosvia for seven nights over the course of two weeks. We got to know the staff and their friends, who all went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could be.
Each morning, Sol would make sure we had a plan for the day and that we knew how we were going to get around in BA. She also offered great advice about what to prioritise, given our small amount of time in BA. When we came back in the evenings, Sergio would welcome us with a smile and insist on hearing about what we did over the course of the day. He spoke no English and I spoke almost no Spanish but with his patience and perseverence we ended up having long conversations using broken Spanish and hand gestures.
The location of Carlosvia was really good for us because we were not in the really touristy areas. All the locals we spoke to told us that we're seeing "the real Buenos Aires" because we were staying in the Abasto region. Still, the location was not too out of the way. Close to Recoleta and right at a subway, we were able to get anywhere in the city very quickly.
This was really a hotel with personality.
