“Old world charm at a great rate”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2010

Just a quick moment to say how much I enjoyed staying here. Great hospitality and close
to the core of B.A. It felt like living in an old world house in Europe. I loved the high ceilings
hardwood floors and open skylight in the foyer. I will be back!

This hotel was lovely. Don't be fooled by the outside, once you come out of the lift the entrance hall is vast, with gorgeous high cellings and huge rooms. The hoteliers are also lovely, friendly and very helpful. They have free internet and hot showers and the hotel is located close to most attractions in BA.

If you are looking for a great cordial and personal stay in Buenos Aires, if you don't mind not staying in a superfancy luxury hotel, but prefer the charm of old Buenos Aires in the heart of the city, this hotel is excellent. However, don't come if your idea of a hotel includes spa facilities, in room jacuzzi and a rooftop swimming pools. This hotel is simple, mostly shared bathrooms, basically no-frills.
It is its location and the beautiy of the building as well as, first and foremost, the charm of Brenda and Graham that makes this place so special. They are among the most cordial and attentive hosts I have ever met. They'll do anything to make your stay as pleasurable as possible, and you feel it comes right from the heart! The rooms are great - tastefully decorated, huge with high ceilings, yet simple (no AC, no TV, simple closet).

Some things to consider:

- the area seems to be safe, however, it might seem a bit dodgy at first sight.
- Location near the intersection of the two main traffic arteries of (Downtown) Buenos Aires (Microcentro) Avenida 9 de Julio and Avenida de Mayo in a quiet street. Lots of sights, dining and shopping options around, easy Subte (metro) access. Rooms are super quiet!

Last, but not least, why not a 5 star rating?

Just some really minor issues, that are probably fixed by now:
- Getting inside the hotel. Please Brenda and Graham (I hope you read this), the front door intercom is not the best idea, get a code door opener or provide front door keys for your guests.
- though the sanitary facilities are faultlessly clean and functional (good pressure, hot water) a little bit of a nip/tuck job wouldn't hurt.

All in all, it was a great stay! I would recommend this place to anybody who can do without luxury facilities, anyday!

We stayed in a twin room in Los Patios de Montserrat over new year 2009/2010. I can thoroughly recommend it. It is in a beautifully restored mansion house (don´t be fooled by the very modern enterance off the street), with huge rooms, beautiful high ceilings and a lovely airy and atmospheric feel to it. Brenda and Graham are very welcoming hosts, the beds are superbly comfortable, and the location, right in Monterrat is great for wandering the city on foot.

I was really lucky to discover this place. Its a hidden gem in the center with everything spacious (rooms, lounge, outdoor patios). Don´t let the modern entrance fool you - their elevator takes you to this mansion from yester-year. The owners were super friendly and I slept very well. I found it to be a great price for value.

Very nice and very original hotel, managed by very lovely people. We stayed at the Los Patios de Montserrat for almost a month and we totally fell in love with this place. Actually it felt like living in an Argentine palace: large rooms, even larger doors, wide open spaces and ceilings so high that it will nearly make you dizzy by gazing upwards. Every room is individually styled. We were lucky to find it over the Internet. But the best is, this place is both, very central to all important sights and very quiet which is hard to find in bustling Buenos Aires.
