“Nice Hotel in Palermo - noise can be a problem”
Reviewed 18 July 2013

Very nice boutique hotel in Palermo. We were upgraded to a room with balcony that faced the back of the hotel on the "quieter" side - but even here the noise at night was quite loud - especially over a weekend.
The rooms were spacious, well decorated and very comfortable. The bathrooms large and very well appointed, although the hot water in the shower was temperamental!
The front desk staff were all very helpful.
Breakfasts that are included in the rate were ok, but nothing special.
Would definitely recommend the hotel for anyone wanting to enjoy the vibe of the neighbourhood.

Having spent two weeks here in two parts, five and then nine days (before and after a cruise), we could not have found a better choice. The hotel is located in the heart of Palermo, easily accessible by metro (subte) just 8 blocks away and by several buses. There are a number of restaurants and shops nearby including the famous Cabrera. For tango lovers: La Viruta and Villa Malcolm are both within walking distance. The hotel staff could not have been more helpful, they all speak fluent English, are polite and always try their best. Celina, Matias, Pablo and Luciano went out of their way to help us with our misery - both of our suitcases reached us 56 hours after we landed. We will definitely return to Hotel Palermitano!

Room Tip: rooms in the back - not the ones with street view

Deciding to spend three days in BA in January, 2013, prior to saling on a cruise to Antarctica, my wife and I booked this hotel over the internet based on what we read on Tripadvisor. Hotel was in a great location, a lovely bohemian/residental area just down from embassey row and near a terrific street market and a plethora of great restaurants. It was delightful just to walk around soaking up the atmosphere, Despite the BA summer heat both the hotel room and the surrounding neighborhood seemed quite comfortable. The accommodations themselves were fine, but far from deluxe. The rooftop 'pool' was more the size of a hot tub on steroids, which my lap-swimming wife found disappointing, but the roof itself was fine for catching a few rays on the loungers and had a nice view overlooking the area, The Japanese-themed restaurant adjacient to the lobby served a fine, hot (non-Japanese) breakfast, but we didn't dine there in the evening, since we like to get out of whatever hotel we are staying in and sample the local cuisine, but it did seem to attract a lively local crowd. I'd like to make a special note of Pablo, the desk clerk and seeming manager, who we utilized as our BA conceige and his recommendations and the arrangements he made for us were always spot on. If you stay at the Palermitano, make Pablo your "go-to guy" and you'll be a happy camper.
All in all, a nice, convenient place to stay in a great, and I mean great, location.

Room Tip: Many rooms face into the center courtyard, overlooking the outdoor dining area of the restaurant. Do...

We prefer staying in small boutique hotels where there is a laid back atmosphere but you need to get it right. The staff, when you could find them, were friendly but everything was sloppy and there seemed to be a kind of indifference. An example was breakfast where you had to go and search for staff to ask for coffee, then ask to replenish the buffet etc. this was same experience on both days we were there. the Palermitano needs to get its act together!

Room Tip: Standard rooms are very small.

If I come back to buenos aires, I definitely stay at this hotel again. Junction where this hotel is located is the best place in Palermo soho in buenos aires. It is a must-stay hotel. Especially compared to other places we stayed at the same street, great value, hotel personnel are very helpfull.

We stayed at Palermitano for our last two nights in Argentina. The hotel is very central and close to everything in Palermo Soho. The décor is very nice, clean, and modern. We got a standard room which was on the 2nd floor and overlooked the restaurant. I had requested a quiet room and was a bit concerned as I read reviews about the noise. Our first night was on a Wed and we did not hear a peep from the restaurant and we assumed maybe it just wasn’t busy. But then our second night was Valentine’s day and when we left for dinner we saw the restaurant was jam packed but didn’t hear anything. We assumed it would be really noisy when we got back but when we returned around midnight we didn’t hear anything. I don’t know if they have added soundproofing to the restaurant but noise was not the issue that I feared it would be. Though because our room looked into the restaurant and across to other rooms we always had to have the curtains covered. But we didn’t really find this to be a problem.

Our room was very nicely decorated and had a premium feeling to everything. The bed was very comfortable, and there is lots of room for clothing storage. The bathroom was another story though. It looks very nice and has organic toiletries but the shower did not have a door so once someone showered there was water all over the whole bathroom floor. So that wasn’t very practical. Also the shower only got to a certain temperature which wasn't very hot. I enjoy super hot showers and I’ve never stayed at a hotel that controlled my shower temperature preference. Kind of annoying. As well the bathroom door is a super heavy frosted sliding door which doesn’t provide a lot of privacy, and there is no fan in the bathroom. So ventilation was a problem.

Breakfast is served in your room and you need to call down for room service which is complimentary. All food served was very nice and of good quality and the coffee was excellent. The restaurant downstairs looks really nice and the staff were always super friendly when we walked by but we didn’t get a chance to go. Just south of the hotel on Thames is Sarkis restaurant which has excellent Middle Eastern food. One of the highlight meals of our trip.

The pool upstairs is a nice idea but we never got a chance to use it. The rooftop they have has so much potential for a luxurious getaway but missed the mark. The pool chairs were tattered and there were no pool towels or umbrellas. As well I went up one afternoon and there were old drinks around the pool that no one cleared up. Anyways it’s a nice to have a pool up there but I think they just missed an opportunity to make the rooftop really stand out.

The staff were always very helpful. I wouldn’t say they were super friendly but was always at your service. When we first arrived we realized we didn’t have the right voltage adapter and they provided us with one right away free of charge. As well when we checked out we didn't need to leave for our flight till mid afternoon, which was well after check out time, and they allowed us to stay in our room till then which was much appreciated. If you ask them to call you a car to the airport ask for the price of a remis vs. taxi. I asked for a taxi, and the reception told me they weren’t sure the exact cost and it would be around $160 pesos. When the driver come he told me it was $220 pesos to EZE. I wasn’t in the mood to negotiate price but I was surprised it was so much because when we arrived into BA we stayed at a different hotel and they ordered a remis for us which was $230 pesos and it was a much nicer car. Worth it for $10 pesos more.

I would definitely recommend the hotel for the location and atmosphere. I think it is a good price but if you are really on a budget I think you can get comparable hotels that are a little cheaper.

This hotel is situated in the heart of Palermo, close to the very animated Plazoleta Julio Cortaza and the unmissable restaurant Cabrera (which we missed for failing to book a table a month in advance...). However, beside the nice location and the nice roof top pool, this hotel doesnt really stands out.
