“Boutique Gem in Palermo”
Reviewed 16 March 2013

This hotel is a straight forward, no frills, modern boutique hotel in Palermo. It's not located in the heart of it, but a 10 min. walk in a more quiet, residential section of it. The hotel has an excellent restaurant, Hernan Gipponi, the empenadas are heavenly. Breakfast is more like a tasting menu, A+! Rooms are large, spacious, and clean. It's fine for sleeping, as you'll be out and about most of the day. It's a good value, great area, and most importantly a good place to rest.

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of February, and having done the city tour, we were so pleased we stayed in Palermo. This district is mostly residential but the biggest point for us was being able to have endless fantastic restaurant choices within a few blocks walk (I've reviewed some on this site). This is not a touristy area at all which feels really great, but Recoletta, San Telmo and all the other main sights are a cab ride away. Having said that, on our first day, we walked all the way from the hotel, visited the zoo, then to the rose gardens and back.

The room was large and contemporary and well appointed - the only issue being the a/c unit which developed some sort of random ticking/banging. Upstairs there is a tiny roof top 'pool' - it's certainly not big enough to swim in but a pleasant space to spend the last hour of sunlight. There are only 6 loungers up there which was a little bit of an issue with some guests wanting to put their towels down to reserve them, and come back 90 mins later. I think they should have a sign up there discouraging this.

Breakfast was really good - the first time we've had a sort of tasting platter for breakfast - orange juice, a shot of some sort of veg/fruit juice, yoghurt/granola, fruit then eggs cooked to order and bakery basket. Really refreshing to not have a buffet.

The staff were super helpful and spoke great English - they recommended and booked restaurants, called taxis and gave advice on sightseeing.

Best of all, by London standards, a stay here is an absolute bargain - about GBP112 per night.

During the month of Febuary i had the oportunity to stay several nights at the Fierro Hotel , i was very pleasantly suprised on arrival to find the room exactly how it is described on the hotels website , certainly enough luxury for me !!! , all of the staff are very helpfull and service orientated , the included breakfast is well presented and the coffee very good , a MUST is the tasting dinner at the Hernan Gipponi restaurant within the hotel ...it is a truly wonderfull meal and they have a great wine selection also , the little pool on the seventh floor is a refreshing delight after pounding the city streets for several hours , truly .. the Fierro Hotel is a gem .

The restaurant at the hotel was the best in buenos aires. We enjoyed having breakfast there although it was a bit repetitive with no diversity but it was always very good. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and they always gave us very good recommendations and helped us in booking shows. They were very patient. The room is extremely clean and spacious. Overall it's a very clean modern small hotel with extremely helpful staff. Loved it

Great place to arrive after a long flight. Modern spacious room with Fluffy robes, flat screen TV and fantastic shower. Very helpful staff. Well located for SUBTE metro station which takes you into the heart of the city or a short walk to centre of Palmero. Dinner was an experience. We chose the 7 course tasting menu which was of a standard of several Michelin starred restaurants we have tried. A real find and highly recommended

My husband and I had the best time here. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. We also ate lunch and dinner there once as well. Very impressed with both. I ordered the crumble dessert twice in 4 days as it was that good. Enjoyed the roof top pool and honesty bar. Very clean modern hotel.

I've stayed here several times now on business trips and it's always an absolute pleasure. This is quite a small hotel, which helps with that personal touch. The rooms, on the other hand are not small - they're spacious and well-equipped and the cleaning staff keep them spotless.

Breakfasts and lunches at the Hernán Gipponi Restaurante are fantastic and the service staff are very attentive without being overbearing. Special requests are accommodated without quibble and the food is of a very high quality.

Over all, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.
