Spent 2 nights at the Fierro Hotel in the trendy Palermo Hollywood neighborhood in Buenos Aires. This is a lovely boutique hotel. The rooms are tastefully furnished, very clean, and comfortable. The service was excellent. A nice, basic breakfast included coffee, fresh squeezed fruit juices, fruit, breads, cereals, yogurt, and eggs. The restaurant, Hernan Gipponi was outstanding with multiple tasting options (5, 7, and 9 courses) with or without wine parings. We will definitely return.

Fierro Hotel is in Palermo Hollywood - one of the "hip" neighborhoods in Buenos Aires (although many of the shops are in Palermo Soho). What is great is the hotel is a short walk to the subway which will take you to Palermo Soho (although you could walk), towards the Recoleta, or to Plaza de Mayo (where you can walk to San Telmo).

The hotel is a boutique hotel which I love. The rooms are spacious (mine had a king bed, couch, small patio which I didn't use but did open up the sliding glass door for fresh air). Bathrooms have a wonderful rainfall shower. Wifi works beautifully. And brilliant storage components so you can really unpack and settle in and not live out of a suitcase. And the rooms are very clean and have a nice touch like a complementary bottle of water.

My only minor complaint is the doors close heavily which means if you're lazy like me and sleeping in, you'll hear the doors opening and closing. But that's it. I didn't hear a peep from the rooms next door and occasionally heard some noise from the street. But for being in the heart of a city, very peaceful.

They also have a lovely garden which is a nice respite from the cement. And breakfast is reasonably priced and tasty.

Aside from a lovely hotel, the service here is impeccable. The staff is knowledgable and helpful in providing recommendations, directions to the subway, calling taxis, even adding pesos to my bill so I have enough cash to pay for my taxi. Truly impeccable which is helpful when visiting a foreign city.

If you stay here, make reservations for The Argentinean Experience which is just a few blocks away for dinner one night. You won't regret it - the highlight of my trip. And in my opinion, skip Osaka (across the street from The Argentinean Experience) as it was overpriced and average in my opinion.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back will be more quiet.

We found this chic boutique hotel after looking for a place to stay for vacation. It exceeded expectations. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, and it has a lovely rooftop pool, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of BA. It isn't located in the center of the city--it is in Palermo Hollywood, which is a beautiful, tree-lined neighborhood, but it is something to know if you want to be right in the center of BA. We walked or took taxis most places and it wasn't too expensive. The front desk was very helpful. They have a computer in the lobby from which we bought ferry tickets to Colonia, Uruguay (I highly recommend if you want a day away from BA--it is a sleepy town, but very cute). The front desk printed out our tickets for us, no problem. The whole hotel is also wired for wi-fi, free. The restaurant in the hotel is fantastic--modern Argentinian fare. Definitely the meal that we dream of the most when we think about our trip to BA. A couple of small notes--for such a nice hotel, the toiletries are kind of cheap, also the AC unit in the room worked well, but was quite noisy. It is a small hotel, and there are only 4 rooms per floor, and we could hear when the other hotel guests were returning to their rooms on the floor. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel if you're looking to have your own little oasis in BA.

This hotel is a straight forward, no frills, modern boutique hotel in Palermo. It's not located in the heart of it, but a 10 min. walk in a more quiet, residential section of it. The hotel has an excellent restaurant, Hernan Gipponi, the empenadas are heavenly. Breakfast is more like a tasting menu, A+! Rooms are large, spacious, and clean. It's fine for sleeping, as you'll be out and about most of the day. It's a good value, great area, and most importantly a good place to rest.

We stayed for 3 nights at the end of February, and having done the city tour, we were so pleased we stayed in Palermo. This district is mostly residential but the biggest point for us was being able to have endless fantastic restaurant choices within a few blocks walk (I've reviewed some on this site). This is not a touristy area at all which feels really great, but Recoletta, San Telmo and all the other main sights are a cab ride away. Having said that, on our first day, we walked all the way from the hotel, visited the zoo, then to the rose gardens and back.

The room was large and contemporary and well appointed - the only issue being the a/c unit which developed some sort of random ticking/banging. Upstairs there is a tiny roof top 'pool' - it's certainly not big enough to swim in but a pleasant space to spend the last hour of sunlight. There are only 6 loungers up there which was a little bit of an issue with some guests wanting to put their towels down to reserve them, and come back 90 mins later. I think they should have a sign up there discouraging this.

Breakfast was really good - the first time we've had a sort of tasting platter for breakfast - orange juice, a shot of some sort of veg/fruit juice, yoghurt/granola, fruit then eggs cooked to order and bakery basket. Really refreshing to not have a buffet.

The staff were super helpful and spoke great English - they recommended and booked restaurants, called taxis and gave advice on sightseeing.

Best of all, by London standards, a stay here is an absolute bargain - about GBP112 per night.
