Owner description: Named by the DownBeat as one of the worlds top Jazz Venues. Intimate music and low lighting set the mood for this one-of-a-kind spot where live music is being impovised by the very best Jazz musicians. DownBeat International - 2014.

We went there last night (Friday) and were really very happy with the entertainment. The first band was a young band. Barbie Martinez was the singer with a great voice and a brilliant band. The woman on piano was so good. Barbie was very friendly and after she had finished she chatted with us about her music and told us about the act coming on after her. We bought the most expensive bottle of champagne (sparkling wine) on the menu and it was only $135 pesos - and it was good (from Mendoza). The pizza was really tasty. Good coffee. Very reasonable prices. A mixture of waiting staff. One guy was very attentive and professional and the other was, well not so!
The second band , not sure of their name, had a swiss lady playing violin, and a guy on violin, one on clarinet, another on acoustic guitar and one on electric guitar. Played Django Reinhardt / Stefan Grappelli style music. The crowd thinned out a bit for them but they were worth staying for if you like that style of music, which we do.
A small room so quite intimate with clear view of band and good sound system.

Music culture in B.A. is really top notch and this is one of the best clubs with a warm atmosphere and a very good agenda.
Prices are reasonable compared to European standard and the food menu is not very wide but the pizza we had was really good. Waiters are not the most skilled in town..
Also check out Notorius, Jazz&Pop, Cafe Vinilio, la oveja negra, and many many venues u find here. San Telmo neugh. by Sunday during the market offer nice live music shows!

The last time we visited here the band was average at best so I was not thrilled to go back but it was a Led Zep tribute band and my husband really wanted to go. So we made a reservation and off we went. Got there at 9:30 and show started at 10:00. It was packed. And rightly so, these musicians were excellent. We stayed for both sets, enjoyed some great wine and will definitely check their calendar again before we go back to BA again. Delightful evening. Their website will not work on an ipad -- use your laptop to see the calendar.

Wonderful live music venue, great coctails, great area. But the night we went the band was mediocre at best. And we were told to arrive before the show started at 930 if we wanted them to honour our reservation. We got there on time, but the band started at 11. There are better things to do in Buenos Aires on a Thursday night than wait around for a weak band to start.

If you're lucky enough to spend time in Buenos Aires and you love Jazz, don't leave without visiting this place. Book in advance and arrive before 9.30 pm...early for Buenos Aires, but worth it. This is a wonderful space. A 'real' jazz club with top class musicians, a chilled atmosphere where people really do go to listen. Get a taxi there, you could easily miss it. Wonderful.

By the way....ignore ridiculous advice on some internet sights telling UK citizens to keep a low profile, etc in Argentina. Everybody we met welcomed us and were so friendly and gracious. We could learn from that.
