“best hotel in buenos aires”
Reviewed 11 July 2012

My family and I were very positively impressed by this excellent hotel, No doubt it is the best one we have been in Buenos Aires, Great location in the downtown area, close to every touristic site and the downtown Florida street and Lavalle street, Personnel extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms modern clean and good size places. Pleasant buffet breakfast. Wi fi on site and two free computers in the first floor. All I can say is I will for sure return to this hotel if back in Buenos Aires, This statement is after having been several times to several hotels and this is the first one I am so sure we will go back too. Those judging down this hotel, surely have not been to others in this city. It is fully functional , if you are lookionk for luxury and you are willing to pay twicw its price, it is of course your choice, but for a functional hotel it is the best.

Room Tip: we chose the back rooms, perhaps the front rooms facing the street might be noisier, we do not know...

We rounded our one month South America trip in BA and can only say that given the rest of the properties we stayed at this was the least impressive. Not sure how this hotel could be considered as superior class accomodation like the rest of the properties we had stayed in during our honeymoon??? Room we were originally assigned was spacious but seemed to be still a work in progress as various fixtures were missing. The smaller room we were reassigned later was to a better standard and looked like it was ready for use at least. Breakfast was uneventful and night staff did not speak english so not much help there. At least the central location was handy.

Half a block from Calle Florida, I guess it's the most of it! Good breakfast, good service, big and clean rooms, very helpful staff, they where very helpful and gentle, every time, and we stayed for ten days. Sure Nicolas is the best, but everyone else was great. Our first room (402) had a problem with the shower, which is on the ceiling and leaked towards the ceiling and back in to your head, very uncomfortable, surprisingly dirty walls and some dirt in the Jacuzzi pipes that I could not get rid of. We asked to be changed and the second room (301) had a very bad smell of sewage on the toilet. I've got that same smell on other two hotel in previously trips to Buenos Aires. I'll stay there again but, will ask for a room without those problems.

Tucuman streeet and neigboroughing streets are crowded and noisy during the day but a bit dark and certainly dirty in late hours. Staff on the reception is very helpfull and polite. Breakfast is very basic. Rooms are very large and clean with rather simple furniture. No luxury at all. Some maintenance will help since handles on the door are falling of and shower is spraying everywhere. Some fresh paint will help too. Street is unfortunately noisy day and night so you have to choose between closed windows ( sound proof) and air con. or fresh air and ear plugs. Room on the back are noisy too becouse of airconditioners mounted on the facade. Top roof pool and gym should have some maintenace too. Investment in the hotel sould not be to high to bring in to upper category. Its not question of money rather care.

Room Tip: higher floors on the street are probably quieter

We recently stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. This was our first visit to Buenos Aires and if we return we will definitely stay at the Galerias.

We wish to acknowledge and thank the staff at the front desk, especially Nicolas, who went out of his way to assist us during our stay.

The room was very spacious with an excellent bathroom.

The breakfast was wonderful- a wide variety of food choices and the fresh bread, buns and pastries were greatly appreciated.

The location of the hotel is great, only 1/2 block from Calle Florida which is the large pedestrian shopping area. There were many cafes nearby the hotel and also good restaurants for dinner within walking distance.

My wife and I ended our trip around South America with a stay at this hotel and aside from the location it's fair to say we were pretty disappointed.

The disappointment started with the rude reception staff who, unlike most his counterparts in other properties throughout South America, didn't seem very keen to welcome us. Aside from his stand-offish attitude, he couldn't grasp my request to cancel a transfer we'd previously booked because we arrived earlier than expected.

Our room was modern, but everything about it was done on the cheap. It's the sort of place that for the first year after the refurb was probably quite nice, but everything has worn quickly because they purchased the cheap option. Some of the issues with the room included:

1. Light switches you almost need to punch to turn on/off
2. A bathroom door that doesn't close, creating a draft that blows the shower curtain on to you whenever you're in there
3. An uncomfortable bed with even more uncomfortable pillows (don't believe any agent/website that says they have a pillow menu. When we asked, they didn't know what we were talking about)

The location is fantastic if you're in Buenos Aires to do some shopping with the Florida mall just down the road, but there are other hotels in the vicinity and I'd probbably give them a try ahead of this one. It's also worth remembering that not much happens in that part of town at night, so a restaurant will be a bit of a hike on foot or by taxi.

We recently had 3 nights in Buenos Aires and were so pleased we were staying at the Hotel Galerias. It is really well positioned close to Florida for strolling. We walked to San Telmo to look around the antique shops, took a taxi then to the Evita Museum in Recoleta (which was a really interesting place to visit) and then walked back to the hotel via the cemetery and along Ave Alvear. The hotel staff were lovely and very helpful and rooms were spacious and modern. We were also grateful to be able to access an iron and ironing board in our room - not always the case in some hotels.
