Owner description: Galeria Mar Dulce is a small, family run gallery specializing in contemporary and classic Argentine and Uruguayan art. Our gallery is based in the living room and patio of a former townhouse in the Palermo Soho area of the city. We show works by a wide variety of artists ranging from the internationally-known Daniel Santoro and Tulio de Sagastizabal through well established artists in the local field such as Ral Veroni, Lola Goldstein, Cristian Turdera and Isol and including 'emergent' artists like Maria Elina Mendez or Sofia Winazki. We also have works by classic artists such as Raoul Veroni, Federico Ayma and Victor Rebuffo. Classic and contemporary works live together happily in our little gallery as they do in our homes. We present two exhibitions simultaneously: a solo show accompanied by our +COLLECTIVE, which is a group show by about a dozen artists, the intention being to have on show a panorama of the best local artistic production at all moments. We specialise in small and medium format artworks but also have some larger works in stock. Prices range from U$D5 for books and U$D100 for artworks. We speak English and Spanish.

“Don't miss this gallery!”

A tiny space tucked away in Palermo with many jewels to be discovered. Mostly small works by terrific artists, local and otherwise, are a joy to behold. This is 'real' art, and a welcome respite from images made for tourists. I always enjoy a visit to the space, and a chat with the delightful and knowledgeable owners, Linda and Ral, and am now the proud owner of several very affordable pieces of Argentine art.

“Fantastic little gallery well worth a visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2012

This little gallery was right under the apartment we were staying in, in Palermo Soho. It's packed full of small and affordable art by local artists (thankfully not the usual 'tourist art', no tired tango dancers or grim gauchos!) We loved the variety: beautiful etchings from the 1940s, colourful abstract paintings, little sculptures in silver, cute ceramic objects, pen and ink drawings and intricate botanical watercolours, to name a few. It sounds like a hotpotch but somehow everything blends together so well. Chatting to the owner we discovered that some of the artists are really important names in Argentine contemporary art and although the names didn't mean anything to us we loved the fact that they were on the wall along with other artists who were recent graduates. We bought some little books with drawings on Argentine banknotes as presents and for us a couple of amazing little framed drawings from the special exhibition of art for children. Definitely worth checking out for an idea of what's going on in the local art world as well as for presents.

“a great little gallery - Galeria Mar Dulce”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2011

Just a few blocks from the hub of galleries around Humboldt street, Mar Dulce Gallery is definitely a case of ‘small is beautiful’. This little gallery is full of small sized art by artists, ranging from big names on the local contemporary art scene like Sagastizábal, Daniel García, James Peck or Santiago Porter to lesser known gems like Raoul Veroni. There’s a bit of something for all budgets with prices from just a few dollars for a book (they have a really interesting selection) and $75 for original works. The space itself is just gorgeous, bright and airy with a lovely little patio out back, full of flowers when we visited. What we liked about the gallery was the idea of having each solo exhibition presented alongside a small group exhibition of works of several invited local artists. There was lots to see, and plenty of temptations for present-buying, or in our case self-gifting.
