We stayed at the Mio Buenos Aires for the last leg of our trip in Argentina in May 2014. The hotel is beautiful. It has high end finishes in a very nice part of the city. However, they hotel had some serious customer service flaws.
Here are some of the highlights:
-The breakfast was great and the waitresses were amazing. They greeted us every morning, made fresh cappuccino and eggs if we requested it.
-The pool/spa area was the main reason we stayed at the hotel since we wanted to have a day to relax over a 10 day trip. This area did not disappoint. We were the only ones there that day which was great. It was clean, the water was heated and the showers had jets which were AMAZING.
-Our room had two double beds put together. It wasn't a Queen or King size bed as advertised.
-The wifi was terrible. We think there was one router for the entire floor so it was very slow and the connection constantly dropped. It was very frustrating. There is a computer lab on the 2nd floor so there was a way for us to check-in for our flight and print our boarding passes but it was less than ideal.
-The concierge was not very helpful. He was either new or didn't know the area. For example, his recommendation for a local bank to exchange money was closed. We also told him that we wanted something casual for lunch and he directed us to a steakhouse. My husband and I speak Spanish so that helped us communicate with him because his English was spotty at best.
-The worst part of our entire stay was the check-out process. We had asked for a late check out since we had a late flight back to the US and wanted to shower before a 10 hour flight. Well, when we arrived to our room at 12:30 pm they told us that we had to leave and there was actually someone in our room looking to gather our things! We were extremely disappointed that we had to rush and be penalized because of someone else's mistake. To make matters worse, the front desk never apologized for their mistake. They said that we could shower in the spa but at that point we had such a sour experience that we just wanted to leave.
The hotel has potential but needs better management given the price and other competitors.
