This is no way a typical hotel with an grand entrance or even signage giving you any indication its a hotel. When we first got there we thought we had the wrong address to be honest. Once inside though its a different story. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The owner himself speaks English being a former citizen of the USA but the others struggle with English but have some ability and they do go out of their way to help you. The rooms themselves are different to your usual hotel, concrete floors and the keys to the room and the entrance to the hotel were very unique. The area of Palermo this hotel is located in is quiet at night and there are fantastic restaurants and bars nearby as well. The owner went out of his way to provide a map they have prepared which shows all the local amenities and areas to see and went through with us in detail all the best areas to see. Its about a 15 minute walk from the nearest subway station though but taxis are also very cheap here we found. There is a steak restaurant just around the corner which I think is rated in the top 5 in the city and its a must to have dinner there but you need to book in advance due to its popularity. Plenty of elegant wine bars and restaurants, cafes and boutique shopping more for the ladies as well. Wifi was good in my room but average in my friends room but its free as well. Showers were a bit of a let down as the pressure and hot water were both inconsistent but the split system heater/cooler in the room was great and the rooms are kept very hygienic by the staff. Breakfast was nice as well and it was nice to be in a place where the staff always smile and greet you in a more natural sense than it being part of their job, they do seem to enjoy working there.
