“handy location, nice hotel.”
Reviewed 17 February 2013

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in early Feb 2013. The location is great. There is a cool market out the front each Sunday & 5 mins walk up the st from the main square with Presidents office, Cathedral, etc. 5 mins walk the other way & you have some cool bars & cafes in the St.Telmo area. The area felt relatively safe day & night although we did try to maintain an awareness of our surroundings at all times.
The hotel is very new with large, comfortable rooms. Service was friendly & efficient. We had a large desk in our room which was handy for charging gadgets, etc. Free wifi was a bonus too.
Breakfast was ok. nothing special but more than enough. Pastries, toasts, cereals, ham & cheese.
The price we paid was great value for this hotel. The only negative was that the small pool was not open all day & that there was an aprox $15 charge pp per day to use it. I think if a small hotel is gonna have a pool it should be free for guests to use.

Quick summary:

1. Very helpful and professional staff
2. High quality rooms - not so obvious when seeing the modest front of the hotel
3. For booking so late (Dec 18, traveled Dec 27), the rate was excellent
4. Location to Plaza De Mayo very close; Calle Florida and shopping not that far away either.
-----------
My wife and I booked this trip very late (Dec 18) and stayed here Dec 28-31 (coming from San Jose, California). The main reasons to select Kenton Palace was location (near to Plaza De Mayo and subway, etc.). I used Google Maps to search for hotels in the Plaza De Mayo area and Kenton Palace was on the short list due to its location. The bonus for us was the Sunday fair which is cool for 1st time visitors like us.

I selected the 3 bed suite because I needed at least 2 beds guaranteed. Our room was absolutely fantastic - I rate it a 9/10 compared to some of my business travel rooms (stayed in various Shangri La hotels in Singapore, Dubai; Ritz Carlton in Pennsylvania). The front of the hotel is actually quite modest and unassuming - a large contrast to the room. We didn't use the pool or restaurant, so I can't vouch for those.

The service is really top notch - Andre and Pablo were VERY helpful and went above and beyond the norm; helping us book the Tango New Year's eve show, and Pablo (jeez - I hope I got the name correct; not much sleep during this time) helped us get the rare New Year's Eve taxi to EZE airport at 2AM. Their professionalism is of the highest I've ever seen and considered it a privilege to have their services during our vacation.

The downsides are minor: the surrounding neighborhood is close to all the key sights and transportation, but the amount of graffiti in the area can be disconcerting to those not familiar with such things. We walked at night and felt secure, despite some warnings about safety at night. As with any large city, stay in well-lit areas, with other people near by. Be aware of your surroundings, and you will be OK.

Coming from the US, we are used to late-night convenience stores, but very few here - I had to find a Cross 4 Express (about 4 blocks away) to get some drinking water bottles one morning. The store directly next door was not open on the Sunday I tried to find water. The closest ATM is a 'walk 200 feet up Defensa street, turn left, walk 300 feet' and you're there. Very convenient.

The in-room security box is a standard type of item, but curiously, it is NOT bolted down. You could conceivably walk off with it by lifting it up, but it is heavy.

Our New Year's Tango party was only 1 block away and was a BLAST! The place was El Querandi' Tangueria. HIghly recommended and Andre and staff helped us with the myriad of choices for New Year's Eve party.

I highly recommend this place for the Service and the quality of rooms. We also got a very attractive rate at the last minute, so it only added to the high rating. Check out the pictures too.

Room Tip: We stayed in 506 with 2 queen beds and a huge desk/chair/office set up. The bathroom was freakin...

Lovely welcome and fantastic room (we were upgraded to a suite on arrival which was a lovely touch). All staff were extremely friendly and more than happy to chat away in our respective attempts at eachother's language. The pool and sauna are lovely, if opening hours are slightly odd (closed in the mornings, so no swim to kick off the day).

Breakfast was simple but did the job, and plenty of choice.

Location is perfect for exploring BA, and whilst some may not like the fact that the mkt runs past the hotel on a Sunday, we loved it and enjoyed taking in the charm of this Sunday tradition.

This hotel isn't a one-stop shop, more of a perfect base to go out and make the most of a stay in BA.

Room Tip: If you can get a decent price, their suites are really lovely.

I stayed at this hotel for my wedding night. Location is great, except on Sundays because the Defensa street fair takes place on the street where the hotel is located. The staff goes out of their way to be nice and help you as much as they can. Rooms are huge. However, the true pity of this hotel is its food service. Breakfast is just poor, with just bread, and the basics. And the food served for room service is just poor as well. I ordered a bife de chorizo which happened to be the greasiest one I have ever tried. The stuffed potato it came with was just sad. Still the rate was very good so it is a good choice.

We stayed three nights at this new hotel in the San Telmo district. The location is excellent, with the surrounding district interesting to walk around, and easy walking distance to some of the major attractions in BA. The hotel is comfortable, clean and well-run. We had three in a room which was of an adequate size. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was good, though I wouldn't recommend the restaurant for other meals. Free wifi in the room worked well.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked an airconditioning unit on the next building, which was a bit noisy.

The Hotel is brand new and the rooms are great, spacious. Staff is very professional. Location is great.

Unfortunatey there are few things I didn't like. The beds are just not comfortable. Very soft and with tiny pillows. Major problem are key cards used to access elevator and rooms. I happened about 2 times a day they got demagnetized and I could not even go down to the lobby to get new one. The system really sucks.
Breakfast is well presented in very nice restaurant but the selection is not that great. I think this hotel needs to improve on food selection.
For accesing spa area you got to pay 60 pessos, incl. sauna, pool, two treadmills and one bike. Poll is nice and warm but in basement. It's not relaxing when someone next to you excercising very laudly. I can't call this gym.

We stayed at the Kenton Palace in hopes of using their indoor pool and spa service. Alas, this was not ready yet. They are hoping for a July opening on this. Once we were past the initial shock and disappointment of our children we were comforted by very professional staff and brand new rooms.
The location is excellent. Right on Avenida Defensa within easy walking distance to Plaza Mayo and San Telmo. This should work with the tourist and business crowd. The area is quiet at night and felt quite safe.
Wifi and breakfast (typical continental fare) are included. The rooms are spacious, modern and pretty well appointed. More pillows and real comforters and our stay would have been perfect.
Oh, and the pool being open as ADVERTISED would have been nice.
