Good location in a safe area. Hotel appears well maintained and beds were very comfortable. Hotel staff was helpful and stay was pleasant. My only issues were:

1. Hotel is not really handicap accessible, and it is also an issue if you have a lot of lugguage since you either have to go up a flight of stairs or down a flight to get the elevators. Staff will assist but plan accordingly.

2. Breakfast is good, but overpriced. It is 180 pesos or ~30 USD for breakfast unless included in your rate. The breakfast was included in our rate, but for 30 USD I would expect much more.

3. Executive Lounge AC is turned on too high. We were freezing, yet in my room the AC barely works and I am too warm. My best suggestion is bring layers.

4. My co-worker's room did not have all working electrical outlets, apparently a prior guest broke the outlets. The hotel staff was accomodating, but they did not fix them, just gave her an adapter to use other outlets.

5. If you are being picked up by a car/taxi, there isn't anywhere really for them to line up other then in front of hotel, so its an issue in the morning trying to find your car.

Marriott has sold the Buenos Aires Plaza Hotel to the owners of the Alvear Palace Hotel so there are probably changes coming and only time will tell what those changes bring. Looking at the Alvear they'll probably be positive.

The Plaza is an older hotel, built in 1909 and is a classic building, located in close to an ideal spot in Retiro, across the street from San Martín Plaza at the top of Florida. It is heavily staffed with no lack of front desk personnel, baggage handlers, housekeeping staff, concierge staff, doormen, etc. And all are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable and will do everything possible to cater to your every desire.

I've stayed here twice for a total of about a week. Each of my rooms was comfortably spacious and well appointed. There were minor issues with a few things broken but those got fixed when reported. You can tell the carpeting has been in place a long time because it is abour 4 or 5 shades lighter in traffic areas than near the walls where there's no traffic.

In a day when internet access is pretty much ubiquitous and free, even in establishments far more humble, the Plaza charges for access. In spite of being located in a busy, central area, rooms are quiet.

I spent 10 nights here in a room with two other women and we hated to leave. We had a king bed plus a rollaway, and there was enough room for all of us. We fell in love with the wait staff downstairs--Carlos, Leonardo, and "El Maestro". Such gentlemen!! The concierge desk was always helpful, & we had no problems with wifi speed. If you go, you must get a caipirinha from Tony & listen to the piano man play everything from U2 to Sinatra. Location was great, too. If I could change anything, I would want to have an exchange desk. I thought we could get pesos at the front desk but we were told we couldn't. Not sure we were told the right thing, but we just used the ATM across the street.

We were part of a large group and one person at the front desk seemed a little bothered at times, but the other staff more than made up for him with their friendliness. We will definitely stay here again!

This hotel is a little small compared to regular Marriott hotels. My room was small, but had a nice view of the water separating Argentina from Uruguay. The location was goos as it was close to many nice restaurants.

Fantastic, older hotel. This location goes back decades and has maintained its charm.
Well maintained. Attentive staff who helped with orientation, and recommendations.
Great location.
The work out room is better than the average Marriott.
Park views are amazing - worth requesting.

The Plaza Hotel is centrally located on San Martin Plaza, very close to shopping, afternoon free tours of Buenos Aires and historic sites. It is easy to walk around Bs As from this starting point. The hotel is really historic and has a gorgeous drive-up entrance. The reception staff and lounge club staff were excellent and very attentive. The lounge on the 8th floor has bottled water (still and sparkling) and coffee 24 hours. Breakfast was on the smaller end of breakfasts we have had in Bs As and Argentina - 3 types of cereal, a few juices, some pastries, meat/cheese and some eggs. When we arrived for breakfast, it felt pretty picked over.

We arrived on our international flight and they had our room ready at 9:30 AM, which was excellent. Our room was on the 9th floor and when we arrived, they said that we had been moved to the top floor with a terrace. Our room was small, but did have a lovely terrace. Unfortunately, the terraces are closed for "guest safety", ours did seem a bit crumbly. It was a disappointment to not be able to open the window or crack the door for some air. The curtains were held up by velcro and when we tried to close them they came crashing down (with the lovely ripping velcro sound!) revealing some cracked paint and what looked like mold on the walls and ceiling. We were leaving the next morning and it was late, so we didn't request a new room. The bed was very comfortable and we had an excellent nights sleep. The tub is worn, but the rest of the bathroom was lovely. The business center is small but convenient and the printers were broken, but there was no sign letting us know.

We had difficulty getting in touch with the hotel in advance of our arrival to arrange a few services that we required, they don't publish an email address, so phoning them to make initial contact was the easiest. We had arranged transportation from the airport to the hotel and upon arrival asked about getting a ride the next day to the local airport. We were assured that with 10 minutes notice, that they would get us a radio taxi or car. The next morning, the person in charge of arranging cars said that there was no way for him to get us a taxi or a car and that we should just go (with all our luggage) and find a cab. They weren't willing to help us get a cab or to help us with our luggage to the street to find a cab. We dragged all of our things past the doormen and walked onto the street to hail our own cab. Ruined the high quality service we had received from the reception desk and the lounge.

Overall a good night sleep in a small room that is really close to where we wanted to be in Bs. As. Rather than coming back during our other stop overs in Bs. As., we elected to try the Park Tower (SPG next to Sheraton a few blocks away). Ended up staying there the remaining times we were in Bs. As. You still get Marriott points for the remainder of this year at the Plaza Hotel, which made that a hard decision.

This hotel is over a hundred years old, bur very well kept. The service is exceptional! Breakfast was very good, large selection. Plenty of hot water and the room we had on the 8th floor was very quiet every night.

Room Tip: Facing the park is a great view.
