I NEVER write internet reviews but I was very happy with this hotel during my 8 night stay for a convention. I was skeptical based on other reviews, but it was overall an excellent experience. Yes, an updating of the rooms wouldn't hurt, and paying for wifi on top of the hotel prices I thought was a bit much. But the entire staff was exceptional-helpful and courteous. I was upgraded to the executive floor just because they had space available. Very convenient location to shopping and restaurants. I would stay again!

To be in this hotel was a dream for me and I did it.
The building has many years and you can see it everywhere. In some way, it is nice but in the other hand you can see that they need to invest a little bit more on the maintenance and some other things.
We had the opportunity to be in the Presidential room which is beautiful and comfortable, but there where some details that could be better.
First of all, When I went to the SPA they said if I could take my bathrobe because they didn´t receive it yet. After, I need to call to ask for my bathrobe on the room because it wasn´t there yet also. They took like 30 minutes to do it.
I wanted to have wifi in the room (paying for it) and the system they have wasn´t working, so I needed to call to a Call Center (????!!!!! 5 stars hotel!), which give the service from Brasil or sth, so I had to wait for more than 20 minutes to ask for the connection.
To be honest the arquitecture of the hotel is beautiful, the location where it is settled is fantastic and comfortable (if you need to do business), but it seems they are not investing so much, specially when you see the targeting of the hotel.

The Buenos Aries Marriott has a fantastic location for exploring the city by foot and is also conveniently located near a subway entrance. The exterior of the building is beautiful and the lobby and common areas are exquisitely done in marble. Once inside the room, however, the age of the building is readily apparent.. Simply put, the rooms are in desperate need of renovation. Soundproofing is especially needed when near the elevator area.
Then there is the bar and lounge. Forbes lists it as one of the top ten bars in the world, so I have to ask myself, what was Forbes drinking? We stopped in the bar at least eight different times over a week long stay to see how crowded it was and the record crowd was four people one night. Plus, we found numerous other bars in Buenos Aries that were much nicer, cozier and friendly. I think Forbes needs to reassess their list!
So, if this review sounds a bit pessimistic, I refer you back the location comment.

Room Tip: Do not stay near the noisy and incessantly operating service elevator.

it appears the Marriott Group has finally pulled the plug on this property. I have stayed many times over the last 12 years at this hotel and nothing has changed. This hotel needs more than a paint job, it needs a complete overhaul. The only two things that speak for this hotel is the location and the staff that does its best with the rundown hotel they have. This was definitely my last stay there.

Good location in a safe area. Hotel appears well maintained and beds were very comfortable. Hotel staff was helpful and stay was pleasant. My only issues were:

1. Hotel is not really handicap accessible, and it is also an issue if you have a lot of lugguage since you either have to go up a flight of stairs or down a flight to get the elevators. Staff will assist but plan accordingly.

2. Breakfast is good, but overpriced. It is 180 pesos or ~30 USD for breakfast unless included in your rate. The breakfast was included in our rate, but for 30 USD I would expect much more.

3. Executive Lounge AC is turned on too high. We were freezing, yet in my room the AC barely works and I am too warm. My best suggestion is bring layers.

4. My co-worker's room did not have all working electrical outlets, apparently a prior guest broke the outlets. The hotel staff was accomodating, but they did not fix them, just gave her an adapter to use other outlets.

5. If you are being picked up by a car/taxi, there isn't anywhere really for them to line up other then in front of hotel, so its an issue in the morning trying to find your car.

Marriott has sold the Buenos Aires Plaza Hotel to the owners of the Alvear Palace Hotel so there are probably changes coming and only time will tell what those changes bring. Looking at the Alvear they'll probably be positive.

The Plaza is an older hotel, built in 1909 and is a classic building, located in close to an ideal spot in Retiro, across the street from San Martín Plaza at the top of Florida. It is heavily staffed with no lack of front desk personnel, baggage handlers, housekeeping staff, concierge staff, doormen, etc. And all are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable and will do everything possible to cater to your every desire.

I've stayed here twice for a total of about a week. Each of my rooms was comfortably spacious and well appointed. There were minor issues with a few things broken but those got fixed when reported. You can tell the carpeting has been in place a long time because it is abour 4 or 5 shades lighter in traffic areas than near the walls where there's no traffic.

In a day when internet access is pretty much ubiquitous and free, even in establishments far more humble, the Plaza charges for access. In spite of being located in a busy, central area, rooms are quiet.
