This was a jewel in the middle of B.A? Eva Peron stayed there. The staff were friendly. The only negative feature was the wireless access. The street outside is busy, bit gives access to activities in B.A?

My fiancé and I stayed at the Savoy Hotel one night in between our trips to El Calafate and Mendoza. We arrived late at night and the staff was delightful in helping us get settled in. We were so impressed with the room…it was much larger than we expected…especially the bathroom, which had lots of counter space and a huge shower. The room itself is beautifully decorated and almost feels Old-Hollywood style. Our view looked out at the side of a building, but that didn't bother us, as we were only there for one night.

However, it's in the middle of the theater district, which, in many cities, is an area that can be a bit seedier at night, and also more directed toward tourists. We were starving and the only restaurants open around midnight were American-themed pizzerias and Burger King. Delirious, we ate at one of the pizzerias, and it was fine. I would highly recommend staying in Palermo or Barrio Norte if you are staying in BA for several days, as the food options and nightlife options are much better. However, I bet if you are visiting BA for the theater or other touristy attractions, you would love the Savoy!

The decor in this hotel is spectacular. The room we stayed in, the mid grade one with kingsize bed, was a bit small, however, and it would be nice to have wifi in the room for free instead of going downstairs. Great shower. Great Mattress.

Right down the street from the Congress building and easy walking access to lots of historical sites. Safe area to walk. The rooms are really big and well appointed. The hotel is a nostalgic leap back to a time when Argentine aristocrats stayed here - including the Perons.

Conveniently located near two subway lines and within walking distance of downtown, this is a real gem at the price. Interesting architecture and very welcoming lobby bar. Great place for people transiting through Buenos Aires.

This is a beautiful old historic property that just oozes class, from the incredible frescoed ceiling in the twenty foot tall bar to the gilded frames around the flat screen TVs in the lobby. It is close enough to Recoleta to walk.

The rooms themselves are spacious and luxurious, with lots of elegant touches and designer decor. Sumptuos.

What's wrong? The biggest problem is that the staff is, well...understaffed. It is not uncommon for the line in front of the desk to be 3 or 4 deep. It doesn't help any that there is no concierge, which is perhaps asking too much in this price range, but is two clerks too much to ask during peak periods. This disappointment carries through to the breakfast, which, while quite good, is also understaffed, so you find that items run out (even coffee) while people wait for them.

I am not sure this is a staff issue, but when I asked to be taken to the water taxi ticket area for a trip to Montevideo, the cab driver, who had been instructed by the front doorman, dropped me off at the wrong place at the pier...twice.

Last, it is inexcusable to charge for Internet. The Motel 6 doesn't. Neither should this purportedly high end establishment.

My mother and I just completed a week long stay in the Savoy and were left with nothing but positive things to say. The concierge desk was attentive, knowledgeable and patient as we posed our many questions while exploring the city by foot. Compliments to the chef for a hearty breakfast as well!
