My husband and I stayed at the Alvear and used it as a base for our side trips from Buenos Aires during our vacations. It was everything we expected. It is a beautiful, ornate, historical hotel that is extremely well kept. Unlike many other historical-icons, this one impressed us because it is very well kept and the service is excellent. From concierge to bulter to front desk, everyone was polite and helpful. The room was comfortable but the bed a little too soft to our taste. Breakfast is included and it is of very high quality. Our favorite time of day was the cocktail hour at the lobby bar, a great experience! The area around the hotel, recolleta, is clean and very parisian like.

Room Tip: The view from the rooms (we stayed in 3 different rooms) was nothing special so no special recommend...

My friend and I stayed here and attended a wedding reception here and it was first class all the way. The hotel is stunning and the service is absolutely 5 star. Its in a great location just blocks from Recoleta cemetery. It is very expensive so our stay was short but if you want a splurge of luxury this is it.

Lovely hotel with old world attention to service. The fresh flowers in the room and Hermes soaps a fabulous. Charming and helpful staff. Especially loved the hotel bar for an evening drink before or after the evening out. Would also suggest taking advantage of the spa and realted services. Travelling alone, I especially appreciated the hotel's location but more importantly it's attention to detail in securing my comfort.

Stayed 2 nights in a junior suite, service was amazing and flawless, the concierge was on the fone for 2hrs helping me with flight changes! Our personal butler was super friendly and prompt, the food was incredible! Not to mention the PALACE atmosphere of gold trimmings, chandeliers and fresh flowers with ornate high ceilings highly reccommend it, the only thing was I had to follow up regarding cancelling the pre authorisation block on my CC which was a pain!

Alvear Palace Hotel

There is no doubt that this hotel is the leading hotel in the city of Buenos Aires, I dare say Argentina. A very charming old world hotel with lots of marble ,some real and some not so real, and all that glittery gold . The rooms are well appointed, functional and well maintained.
Each floor has a designated butler who is stationed just outside the elevators ,as you arrive at your guest floor,in this case, a very well spoken and groomed gentleman who was not only courteous but competent and helpful in providing a professional introducing to the services the butler team offers, without getting into a lengthy room introduction, this was well done.

The  public areas , in particular the bar just off the lobby are quite stunning. The hotel charges prices that come with a luxury hotel and have the clientele to go with it. In the afternoons you can watch the high society of Buenos Aires meet in the bar for drinks or lunch. A pisco sour will set you back a cool US$ 26 , even by international standards, this is a hefty price ,even in such a nice environment.

This is most definitely a classy international luxury hotel, if they were to go the extra mile a little more, they would be word class. Check out was very early in the morning , it would have been great ,if at least one of the guys standing around in the lobby had helped with the luggage and if a coffee to go and a sandwich had been offered. This is very common in luxury five star properties in Asia. Overall, the staff in the hotel were courteous and competent, I feel the Argentinian mentality and air of arrogance they carry around may simply prevent them for going the extra mile. This was , however still the least arrogant experience of any I had in Argentina.

One great thing, wifi works perfectly in the guest rooms and if you need to exchange cash into pesos,do it at the hotel, the rates were better than anywhere else, including the bank at the airport.

Truly earns it's ranking as a top hotel in the world. I had a 10 day pleasure stay with my adult daughter. Butler and entire staff extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We were there for eating and shopping mostly. With AmEX we were upgraded free to a gorgous suite decorated with taste and comfort; was very large with fresh flowers and fruit daily. Everyone spoke English and all of their recommendations were accurate. In a safe and cautiously walkable neighborhood even in the evening for 2 women. Cannot wait to go back.

If you got a reasonable fare - you have to try, because the standard rate is expensive and you have to add 25 % taxes on your bill - this hotel is really the best one you can find in South America: confort, location, services and this huge glamourous old renovated building.
We did not understand why children are discriminated and not allowed to enter the jacuzzi of the spa. We have learn there are plans to built a real pool; the present one is small, dull and really not a swimming pool. Cell phones could be forbidden in the gymn!
