“Nice hotel but noisy room”
Reviewed 11 November 2010

This is a five star hotel with excellent service from the concierge team and efficient courteous service from the restaurant, bar and pool team but looses some points for errors thhat shouldn't occur at this level.
Pros - The room was nicely apppointed but nothing special especially that this hotel commands higher prices than a lot of other Four Seasons hotels. Not pictures, flowers, etc on any of the room floors. After the lobby it could have been a Holiday Inn. We had a pickup from the aiport that was good. The restaurant was nice for dinner and was the same with breakfast - good quality food but ordering was a bit haphazard - obviously plain cold milk is not drunken with tea in BA - we had at times hot, frothed, tea pots full of milk. Tthe hotel is well situated between Retiro and Recoleta and their at some good restaurants 50yds aways at La Recorva - under the motorway, full of locals enjoying lunch and dinner.
Cons - when we checked in we were given our key and shown the lift, not escorted to the room as is usual for hotels of this quality. We were on our honeymoon and I know the hotel was not obligated to acknowledge this as anything special but was mentioned enough times in my communication that a box of chocolates or a cake would have been thoughtful. The room we were given was very noisy - could hear the TV and the occupant on the phone in the next room all the time. The internet charges were the most irksome - £20/day per device!!! Most of us have 2 or 3 devices these days, need I say more. The biggest con and rip off that is repeated at numerous hotels of this level.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights here and loved this hotel. The room was beautiful and well appointed. We were on the concierge floor which had it's own lounge with 24 hour coffee and two PCs. The people at reception were extremely helpful, even pointing us to a reasonable laundry when we didn't want to pay outrageous hotel prices. The only thing really lacking is a top-notch restaurant. The one they have is your typical hotel restaurant - nothing special. A lavish breakfast buffet was included with our room. The only annoying thing was that they had all these weird juices - carrot, cucumber, etc. but no orange juice unless you paid extra. For a hotel of this caliber, that's pretty lame.

There are many other restaurants within a short walk but it would still be nice to have a really good one in the hotel.

After a 20 hour flight the Four Seasons BA could not have been more welcoming. We used the airport pick-up which was a Mercedes sedan with a wonderfully friendly driver (Carlos) whom we thoroughly enjoyed. Our check-in was expedited. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms large and the usual huge bathrooms with l'Occitane products. We were on the top floor with a view of the city and high ceilings. The breakfast that was included with the rate was an excellent buffet that kept us going until at least 2pm. The hotel staff was extremely helpful especially the concierge and the business center staff. The area of Recoleta is very nice, peaceful and safe.

The Four Seasons is perfectly located on the border between the upscale Retiro and Recoleta neighborhoods, near The Jockey Club, great restaurants and fine window shopping. Service is correct and friendly. Rooms are large and comfortable, with the bathrooms being particularly luxurious. This is not the most over-the-top luxurious Four Seasons I have stayed in, but it is comfortable enough, and is one of the few Four Seasons with a room rate that won't cause the home office accountants heartburn. Recommendation to the hotel: please install coffee makers--not everyone looks forward to getting up in their underwear to greet some tuxedoed fellow first thing in the morning! (There is free, quality coffee and espresso downstairs).

I had the pleasure of staying at the Four Seasons for over a week in late June. I was also surprised and delighted to have found that the hotel upgraded me to a junior suite on the 8th floor (one of the two floors that has direct access to the Library).

Without a doubt, the architecture was the highlight of this hotel. The lobby is spectacular and spotless. Throughout the hotel, the finishes were gorgeous. And the room was truly a delight. The bed was lovely and welcoming after a full day tour of the city and the sitting area and enormous bathroom made me feel like royalty. I also have to point out that the housekeeping staff was amazing with incredible attention to detail. I used 3 Q-tips on my first day in the room and, after the very first turndown service, they were replenished.

The location of the hotel is very good (Recoleta is like the Upper East Side of Bs. As.), but I did regret a little bit not staying in Palermo (where all of the most fashionable and hip restaurants are located). Going back and forth via cabs wasn't that big of a deal (USD $5-6 cab rides), but next time, I'll probably try to stay in Palermo Hollywood.

I would offer a little constructive feedback to the hotel in two areas. On a couple of occasions, I found that the concierge gave me inaccurate or outdated information (specifically relating to the hours and locations of boutiques). I also thought that the breakfast service in the restaurant was very uneven (servers seemed to have difficulty recognizing items on their own menu and often guessed incorrectly as to what I ordered), and very sloppy on the busiest day (Sunday). That's the ONLY reason why this hotel would not rate 5 stars.

In less than one year I have stayed at the Four Seasons more than three times and it was always fantastic. Having stayed in other 5*GL hotels worldwide I have to say that the quality of its service was impressive. During the first stay I’ve rented La Mansión Royal Suite, and on the second stay I was upgraded to the Presidential Suite. This year I’ve rented a Deluxe Executive Suite on the 11th Floor (see pics). Suites are very spacious, very well maintained, mattress, sheets, pillows, towels, curtains and carpets are impressively clean, fresh flowers, complimentary water and fruits are placed in the room every day. Bilingual, courteous, and highly professional staff make the client’s stay remarkable. Breakfast served in Le Mistral by highly qualified staff was exquisite. One of the best locations in Buenos Aires, though in an upscale neighborhood a quiet one. Walking distance to many elegant restaurants, bars and shops (the Patio Bullrich Shopping Mall is just three blocks away).
AN IMPORTANT TIP: The hotel proposes the Airport VIP Welcome Service. This service costs US$100 and it works as follows: when the passenger steps out of the plane an airport’s employee is waiting for him, he takes him to a special counter to do the formalities, picks up the luggage and takes him directly to customs. If the passenger has requested a transfer to the hotel, the employee takes him to the meeting point where the driver from Four Seasons is waiting. At my arrival at the hotel there were always two employees waiting outside for me to take immediate care of everything and take me to the room.
At the time of departure, the same service is proposed at the same cost: help to do the check in, have tax free forms stamped, separate police and passport control, etc. Once the formalities done, the passenger can wait for the flight on a separate VIP lounge with private Free Shop. I think this service is worth its cost as the entire procedure takes about 30 minutes and endless queues to do the formalities, luggage, can be avoided.
For the above expressed, I think that this hotel provides an outstanding service. At the end of July I am going back to Buenos Aires and I have already booked a Suite at the Four Seasons!
