“Good location but pricey basic hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2012

The hotel is located in residential area away from downtown, near a major street with lots of shops of all kinds (including restaurants) and with busy bus routes, but there are no underground stations nearby. The hotel itself looks like it was built in the 1960s, it has a reasonably sized reception area and a small dining area. The room I stayed in was small and cramped, with a very smelly (and therefore unusable wardrobe), narrow single bed (but clean linen), broken panels by the radiator, and a large chunk of tile in the shower box missing, and very old telly that had to be switched on and off manually. The breakfast was basic too (orange juice, coffee, croissants, bread) but sufficient. Would recommend only for the area itself, which although not central, was pleasant enough and the fact that are shops (including a very cheap service launderette opposite the hotel) and restaurants around.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms with carpets, the carpets are filthy and smelly.

The Hotel is based in a quite busy aerea of Bs.As, but in a backstreet so the ambient was good for sleeping. The view from our room was non-existing, since we saw directly in to another building. The elevators were old, as the building itself, and we therefore choose to use the stairs. The staff was very helpfull and kind, and offered free internet. We could not have asked for better treatment. The breakfast at the hotel was poor, though traditional for an argentinian household. It was not difficult to see that the rooms were from an other decade, but this still kind of was the charm of it. We have no problems recomending this hotel for couples and friends who travel on a budget, but families should maybe look around for something else. All in all, the hotel helped us to a wonderfull time in Buenos Aires - the best city in the world!

The website and the brochures from this hotel make it look much more luxurious than it actually is. However, it is a clean, comfortable place to stay and in a good neighborhood. Check out their website at (---)

The rooms have air-conditioning, but you must call the front desk to have it turned on and off -- there's no thermostat. There is also a ceiling fan and cable TV in Spanish. The bathroom is small and lacks a shower curtain, so everything gets wet when you shower.

The windows have Italian-style roll-down wooden shutters that block nearly all light from entering the room, so it's possible to sleep very late in the day if there's no noise. The hotel tends to be noisy in the morning because of the thin doors and narrow hallways. If you get up early anyway, this would be a nice place to stay, but I'm a night person who went out to nightclubs often and the noise became too bothersome.

The hotel is on a very quiet street with absolutely no traffic. Nothing was ever missing from my room and they have a safe at the reception desk for valuables. The employees at the front desk all spoke basic English and were very helpful. The hotel serves free breakfast from 7am to 11am. There were two elevators. The checkout time is 10am.
