We stayed at Carlton september 2011 and enjoyed it very much. The hotel is old but very well kept.Keep in mind that the hotels in B.A. usually get more stars than deserve, so if you see 4 stars it means it is a three star hotel at top.In this special case the distinction lays on the staff's professionalism and the hotel location.I'm a boutique hotel enjoyer but I think it is very dangerous to assume that a little hotel can be named as a boutique based only in its size. We've tryed a smaller(boutique) hotel before and we're very disappointed but this time it was more than good.

Room Tip: Some rooms have a lcd tv ,try to choose them.

Nice hotel that ticks all the boxes required of a 4-star in that price category. Reasonably sized rooms with all the usal bits and pieces and very centrally loated just a few yards away from the shopping area of Santa Fe Avenue in the Libertad District. A very short stroll from most of the major tourist areas of interest and convenient for the metro for those that are further away. Breakfast was okay but nothing to write home about and rooms to the front of the hotel certainly do suffer from excessive street noise.

Overall a nice hotel in a very convenient part of town. Recommended.

Good hotels can be pricey in BA. This one is a god value. Very clean, good English spoken and very friendly. Really good location. Breakfast buffet is only decent, at best, but you should be going out for great coffee and medialunas anyway...

2 years ago; I wrote a review rating the hotel as 3 stars and not 4 stars. Now, after this second stay I am rating the hotel as 4 stars. The reception staff is very friendly and make you feel at home. The (included) breakfast buffet is quite good with nice croisants (medias lunas), nice breads, butter, jams, cheese, hard eggs, fruits and fruit salad. The waitresses in the breakfast room are very friendly too. We had a very nice suite with 2 rooms (a double and a single) and a bath with all the amenities. The best thing of this hotel is its great location in Calle Libertad between Avenida Santa Fe and Calle Arenales. Great shopping is just a block away at Avenida Santa Fe or at the Recoleta neigfhbourhood between Calle Quintana and Calle Posadas. You also have great shopping in Buenos Aires at calle Florida (Galerias Pacifico).
Now, I would lile to recommend you nice places to eat:
La Brigada, Calle Peña, Recoleta. Great meats dont miss the entraña or Bife de Chorizo.
La Caballeriza, Puerto Madero. Great meats.
Moliere, Calle Juncal, Recoleta. A nice bistro with a daily prix fixe menu.
Itamae Sushi, Puerto Madero. Geat sushi. Dont miss the Buenos Aires roll.

Although Buenos Aires is more expensive than 2 years ago, still eating and shopping there is cheap by international standards.
Leather goods are of extraordinary quality with great designs.
