“Great Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2012

We stayed here in July 2009 for 2 weeks. Location was great, staff was really nice, breakfast was really good and my kids loved the pool, we were nearly the only ones using it. We had a family room, large room connected to a small one with 2 tvs and a bathroom. Its old style, and lovely at the same time. We had room service, had deliveries from other restaurants in the area, we had sandwiches from the surrounding grocery shops. Everything is really close and you are in Florida after a 2 minute walk. As other reviews mentioned, the street is microcentro, noise noise noise, but the rooms were really quiet. A nice stay only minus to it is that they blocked my credit card because they tried a huge amount on a checking funds operation of nearly the amount of our stay which in this country takes time to comeback to the account once is been cancelled and the operation still standing for when i was checking out, so they left me with no credit for a few days and had to pay them with other card, If they wanted a deposit or any payment they could ask as we not always pay with the security card we give at the check in. They could literally left me with no funds....and if they were worried I wasnt going to pay my bill, well a chance you take being a hotel. I found it absolutely insulting.

I stayed at this hotel after reading some good evaluation from the internet and viewing nice pictures of the inside. But it was disappointing for me and my roommate. Although the apartments were very good size and clean, the furniture and carpet in my unit looked very tired and asking for urgent refurbishing. Bed and linens were good and comfortable, but towels seemed tired as well. Bathroom was good size and clean, although the shower box barely fits you. If the guest is half a pound overweight won't get inside it; it is very uncomfortable and hard to close the door when you are inside (even being skinny); water spring comes from a little nozzle overhead. TV is plasma and cable; screen seems to be just about 20". A lot of noise comes from outside to the bedroom; I stayed at the 3rd floor. Restaurant and living areas are very dark; breakfast is poor: I even got a little bred that seemed to be from two days ago. Internet is free wifi, but worked well in the common areas, not inside the apartment. But the real bad thing was the staff's hostile way to go and talk to guests. Not all of them; some were very helpful and kind, but two men were rude as if they were making a favor of having us there. For example, when we asked one of them for a free two-hour-late check out, he denied at first and then agreed saying "two hours sharp; not even a second more". Won't go back there.

Room Tip: The new block of the building is quieter, but still noisy.

The Hotel is nice old style and most of all the breakfast is very good. The only drawback is that if you have a room facing the main street it might be very noisy during night. So when you book ask a room on the back. I have tried them both. ps it is not worth to go for the most expensive room, just take the standard and enjoy!

Great location in Buenos Aires close to a bunch of restaurants, shopping, bus lines, etc. Desk staff was super nice. Definitely does need to be remodeled, but it's fine if you're not staying in your room all day. Our A/C unit was pretty weak, and couldn't even keep up when it was only about 85 F outside. Also the bakery on the way to Cordoba is really yummy and has some of the best empanadas we had in South America.

After staying at the Waldorf as part of an organized tour, my travelmate and I checked in the Posta Carretas. This is quite a gem - it is very well located between two major streets. Everything interesting is within walking distance. Quite a lot of restaurants and small groceries around. Despite being so centrally located, the room was reasonably quiet, although small.. In fact, the majority of the noise came from neighboring room rather than from the outside. The lobby is like an oasis. The breakfast was very nice with a very attractive selection of pastries and fresh fruit. The front desk spoke very good English and were very friendly. This was a good bargain!

My friend and I stayed here from Dec 8 through Dec 11 and enjoyed it very much. As the other reviewers will say it is a bit outdated but still loaded with charm. We had a room on the street on the 6th floor and had no problem with the noise. The a/c works albiet it is old so not great but sufficient. The bedding is good, the beds could be better...they should put a foam topper on them and it would be great! It was roomy, the bathroom large and a great shower with a jacuzzi jetted tub!

The hotel is in the heart of it all...we considered the Recoleta district as well as Palermo district but visited them easily. We used the subway system which was great $1.10 pesos or free most of the time and cabs are very cheap as well. The restaurants in the Recoleta district (higher end) were more than double of the ones in the MetroCenter district and they were fabulous...for less than $100 pesos (25$) you could have a full wonderful mean and a whole bottle of wine, plus dessert!

I would stay at the hotel again...free breakfast every day until 10:30 but a couple of times we just called and ordered coffee and for $15 pesos they would bring coffee, orange juice & delicious homemade croissants!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 62, smoking 2 beds

Excellent location on Esmeralda. We had a junior suite which was spacious. Only problem the air conditioning - it did not work. in the end we slept in another room which was fine as we did not want the hassle of having to pack and uppack our cases again. Buffet breakfast with excellent cakes. Staff very helpful - made bookings and arranged cabs for us. Tango shows at Senor Tango and La Ventana are a must.
