“Wonderful free museum with quality art”

Museum curators feel all art should be free to view. Hear, hear! Great stuff from baroque all the way to impressionist with a great helping of Argentinean artists who in addition to being technically accomplished, exhibit such raw emotion in their work.
Check out "no bread, no job" for a real kick in the gut.
Goya, Van Gogh, Manet, etc etc well represented.
Several groups of very well behaved and attentive elementary school kids and their teachers. Never happen in many parts of the states because of the (gasp!) nudes.
Great stuff

“Nothing special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2014

If you've been to the great art museums of the USA and Europe, then after reading the reviews billing this as the best art museum in S. America you will be somewhat disappointed. Its perfectly pleasant, but its certainly not in the premier league of art museums. Disappointingly, despite advertising it on their website, they did not have any audio tours. Also note currently only the ground floor is open. I found the small amount of Argentinian art very impressive, but this only made up a tiny fraction of the museum. Its also disappointing they don't have much english information - specially given the extremely detailed articles about some of the pictures on the website. Would be nice to be able to read this whilst in the museum (downloading it would be a rather expensive option on a european phone)

“Peaceful gallery”

Very lovely and peaceful gallery with some pretty famous pieces. A nice tag-on to a trip to Recoleta Cemetary as it´s just around the corner.

“Great Free Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

It is a great museum! You don't expect it to hold so many valuable pieces from argentine to very known famous artists (Van Gogh)! We joined a Free tour by the museum an english girl(Anna). She made the tour simply amazing, she explained everything in detail, easy to understand and pointed out things that we will never think of (argentine wars and crisis)! We where so happy that we tried to tip her, but we didn't had any cash with us at the moment! Sorry Anna! So if you can just drop her an extra pesos in our behalf!
Cheers,

“Perfect for student-travellers!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

I loved this museum, and not only for the fact that there's no entrance fee, but also because it includes so many different artists and so much information about the history of latin art. I'd highly recommend this museum for people who don't just want to look at art but learn about it as well.
