We stayed in the hotel on our last night in Argentina. We checked in very late in the night (11:30PM) so we were never told what time check out was. The person who checked us in arranged for a cab to take us to the airport the following day at 4PM so he knew when we were to depart but neglected to tell us that we must check out at 10:30 AM. We got a NASTY call at 11:30 AM telling us we had to get out of the room immediately. We explained about check in the night before but to no avail. Seeing how we were being kicked out we asked to move our airport cab time up and the man at the desk was upset at this request. He stated "But then I have to cancel the 4 PM reservation!'. It was just an all around bad experience in this hotel. I would have gladly paid more to be treated in a nice way.

Great location for walking and right near subte stop, friendly staff, decent value for money, historic ambience, interesting courtyard, celing fan in our room. Our room was good size and on the street with lg. opening windows (fairly noisy during day, mostly acceptable at night). Our room, while charming, needed an update, the bed in particular. None of the inside/courtyard rooms on the first floor (all that we saw) have windows that we could tell, fyi, but have a/c. Pleasant continental breakfast (only). Pay by credit card during daytime hours only. Right next door to the Cafe Tortoni - an historic experience par excellence (try the chocolate w/churros!).

We loved BA! It does have a very European feel, like everone says. Although the 'aires' are anything but 'bueno' (oh the smog!), the food is great, excellent USD exchange rate (on local goods and services), very friendly people, we thought, trying very hard to please. Definitely see a tango show for some local flavor. Great clubs/nightlife with beautiful people. It's so big- barely made it to most of the neighborghoods in our 4 days there. Would definitely go back - also would like to see other parts of the country.

This was a nice, clean 2 star hotel in a great central location in Buenos Aires. We stayed at another 2 star and were comparitively very impressed by the Hispano. The courtyard, great staff, and patio were nice additions to the smallish rooms and great location. We would definitely stay there again.

Pros: Great location, nice staff, clean, nice ambiance, free wireless internet.

Cons: No windows...only french doors with shudders, central AC only sometimes works, lots of misquotes & hard to keep out if hot, small rooms, bathroom & shower...same thing, only accept cash.

At first we were appalled by how small the bathrooms were. Standing in the shower without any part of your body touching the shower curtain, was a difficult feat. But as we fell in love with Buenos Aires, we also fell in love with the charming hotel with the tiled courtyard, skylight, complimentary bottle of wine and the free Internet.

While using the computer one day, a middle aged man came up to me and in what I can only described as American English, asked me how much the fee was to use the internet. When I told him it was free, he broke into a big smile and exclaimed " Hey, that's great." The person who complained about the computer, had not been to other South American countries where the hotels charged us for using the Internet or asked us to buy Internet prepaid cards.

Part of its charm is being on Avenida de Mayo, close to bus routes and the " antique" subway. With the Cathedral and Casa Rosada on one end and the park and the Obelisk on the other, and the Tortoni Cafe next door, all within walking distance, it was the perfect place to call home in that city.

The helpful staff had also arranged city tours, a visit to the Estancia de Santa Susana and arranged for tickets to a Tango show, which is not to be missed.

When I return ( note that I said when and not if) to Buenos Aires, I certainly am going to stay at this hotel again, the small bathrooms, notwithstanding. Maybe by then, they would have removed the bidet and enlarged the shower stall.

By the way, we also visited 5 other cities in 3 other countries in South America but no other city there, touched my soul as did Buenos Aires.

Lovely little hotel in the middle of Buenos Aires. We stayed in a four star over the weekend and the only difference between them both is that you can get room service in the four star.

The rooms are clean, the staff are very friendly and I would definitely stay here again if I came back to Buenos Aires.

Were we in the same hotel as the one person who thought it was terrible? We just returned home and thought it was a real find. The room was spotlessly clean and very nice (we asked for a different room from the one assigned us and received a much larger, brighter one.) The service was efficient, the management and staff were very pleasant and friendly, and the location (only a few blocks from the Avenida 9 de Julio and its famous obelisk) was very convenient.
If we ever return to Bueños Aires, we'll go there again!
