“Good location and value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2013 via mobile

I struggled with booking this hotel because of some of the mixed reviews, but at the price, they seemed like the best value in the Palermo area, that had a pool (it was going to be HOT the weekend we were there). I was very satisfied with this hotel and glad we chose it. Keep in mind the pool is tiny, but a great temperature and very nice to cool off after a long day biking around BA. We didn't experience any noise issues as mentioned in some other reviews and the staff was very helpful, they had power converters at the desk for use and even printed our ferry tickets for us. Breakfast was good-good quality meats and cheeses, hot eggs and fresh fruit and granola and yogurt. The location though is the best feature of this hotel-very safe within walking distance to all kinds of shops and restaurants. If you are debating what area to stay while in BA, I highly recommend Palermo, and this soho location was great for exploring the city.

We stayed here for a few nights in January at the end of our honeymoon. It's in a good location in Palermo, a few blocks from the main square, so good for a night out , but also reasonably quiet. Took a corner suite and it was very nicely done out although not quite the luxury I was hoping for.
Breakfast was the usual croissant, cake, fruit juice affair. Not very impressive, especially if you prefer a savoury start to the day!
I don't know happened with the previous reviewer, but I found the staff helpful and friendly. I would stay here again, but know not to expect grand opulence!

It`s very unfortunate that such a new and promising hotel in lovely location has such AN INCOMPETENT and RUDE STAFF. I am not talking about everyone who works at reception, but for a particular person, who made a stay of us and our japanese friends EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I have been staying in various hotels in diverse countries and never meet anything similar.

We arrived to BA and were met by a young guy at reception (don`t recall his name), he was very helpful and our check in went super smoothly. Our room was brand new, spacious with a huge and comfy bed. The only issue were our neighbors (walls are quite thin), so we could hear them listening to TV late at night and slamming doors early in the morning. Breakfast in the hotel was good, yet a bit redundant (same food every single day), lacking fruits and wider choice of juices (they only had orange, apple and grapefruit). Positive experience ends here. From now on only a negative one.

We had a reservation at the restaurant and asked a lady from reception who works there from afternoon and until night to book us a taxi (supposedly a simple thing for someone who works at reception and whose duty is to make a stay of customer of the hotel comfortable and to provide a minimum of respect and attention). A lady said we could call her 10 min before leaving and she`d get us a cab. We have done as advised. Went downstairs, waited for 20-30-40 min, cab did not come. It was raining pretty heavily that night, so surely it was not an easy task to get a cab. Well, lady from reception didn`t seem much concerned about it. We asked her to call for another cab, she said line was busy. I wonder is there just one cab service in the whole Buenos Aires? Another guy from reception was a way more helpful, he went outside of the hotel at he street regardless of heavy rain and spent there almost an hour trying to get us a cab, in the end he managed to catch a car for us (there are some hardworking and service-oriented people at the BA Sohotel after all). One of following days we wanted to go shopping, and needed a help from reception once again, asked same lady to call to several shops to see if they are opened and what are their working hours. Lady from reception said everything was closed, period. A friend of mine from Japan with whom we were traveling started getting frustrated about her attitude, went to her and tried to insist on her calling to several shops and checking what we needed. A lady said she was not understanding his English. Maybe his English was not a perfect one, but with a minimum amount of patience and desire to understand it, she would have got what he wanted from her. Instead of paying attention to person who was standing in front of her and talking to her, she was looking somewhere else. He waived a hand in front of her trying to tell her something like: “Hey, I am talking to you. Can you please pay attention to me when I am talking to you” and she just snapped. No kidding! She started yelling at him and telling that she will not allow him to slap her?! Do you imagine the situation? Never heard anything so absurd in my life! This all happened in front of me and his wife. First of all, waiving a hand in front of someone who is not paying attention to you and slapping a person are two different things. Secondly, someone who works at reception should have a minimum of training to know how to behave under any circumstances. There is always a polite and educated way to resolve any issue. Yelling, being rude and disrespectful is a way to nowhere. After she calmed down a bit we left. Later on in the evening she came to us and apologized. She seemed to have a conversation with her manager and he explained her that her attitude was not right. Apologies were accepted, yet the rest of our stay was in a mixed feelings, after the accident we tried to resort to reception as less as we could. Will I ever feel like staying at BA Sohotel once again? Without a shadow of doubt I will not. And I definitely will not recommend it to any of my friends. Nice location and modern design is not enough. Decent, helpful and positive staff at reception this is what makes a stay in the hotel a truly nice experience. Or NOT THAT NICE as it happened to us.

We stayed there for 2 days in Feb 2013 on the way back home. The hotel is very clean, our room (on the 5th floor) was spacious, has a small balcony, which was very nice in the evenings. The breakfast didn't have a lot of choices but was good. Staff is very helpful and efficient, everyone speaks English. In term of location: Palermo Soho is a nice neinourhood, seems safe. We use taxi to get to the center, though subway is in the walking distance. And price was reasonable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony and not on the last floor.

This hotel is in many important ways an excellent choice: the location is good (Palermo is the best district to stay in), there are many interesting small shops and good local restaurants within ambling distance in the area, and the building itself seems new and fresh. The staff are consistently superb, polite, cheerful and helpful (thank you!). We were upgraded to a premium room on the 7th (ie top) floor: it was very clean, freshly (if slightly generically) decorated and spacious. The bathroom was small but great. However, in the heat of BA summer, the room was extremely hot, and we could only manage to enjoy being in it by having the a/c on continuously - which is not ideal. The area around the lift on that floor was also baking hot. I would suggest making sure you get a room with a shady balcony, to mitigate this.
On the first floor there is a nice terrace with a small pool and a jacuzzi, which we relished every afternoon. Try a cold beer there - but don't order Mojitos - ours took ages to arrive, and when it did, it was the worst Mojito I've ever been served. I
The main problem with the hotel in my opinion is the restaurant, which is part of the open-plan lobby, and which opens its doors to the public. Nothing wrong with any of that - but while the breakfast buffet was of good, if standard, quality and variety, we were baffled to find cereal but no bowls. Our polite request for bowls and cold milk was met with bemusement - at first we were told to eat the cereal from coffee cups with hot milk. We prevailed, in the end, but we had to ask the same thing every day, and clearly we were a source of amusement to the staff. A small matter, perhaps, but it irked us, as did the slightly off-hand attitude of the service, exemplified by the less than genial gentleman who seemed to be in charge of the bar/restaurant area.
Reading back through, I see my criticisms may look fastidious or pernickety - just to reiterate, this is a good place, good value for money, and mostly a good experience. However, there were some small things which let it down in my view. I should also add we are a gay couple, and the hotel treated us with the same courtesy we found throughout Argentina.

Room Tip: Avoid the top floor in summer, and ask for a shady room.

Located in Palermo Soho, this hotel is the perfect base to explore the city. It's 5 minutes walking to bars and restaurants, close to Palermo Hollywood, we also walked to the Recoleta cemetery (25-30 minutes away).
Receptionists were very helpful and extremely nice and polite, a plus in BA.
Breakfast hadn't too many choices in terms of fruits, but was quite enough. I'd recommend this hotel

This new modern boutique hotel is located in a very good location, close to the subway (50 cents one way to Centro, Oblisque, Cathedral and safe), and buses and taxis at the front door and just a few blocks away from many trendy stores and restaurants.
The reception staff speak English and are very helpful and friendly. Staff are attentive and restaurant attached has some excellent tapas and sidewalk seating to enjoy alfresco dining. Breakfast was included with the room and was average. They need to get some cereal bowls.
Rooms are large, with a nice balcony to enjoy some late afternoon sun, which can also be done on the terrace pool and hot tub area.
The doors for the rooms are not overly sound proof. While the patio doors are very sound proof and solid to keep out any street noise.
This is high value for your money in a safe area. We will return here the next time we come.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors if you want a view and some late afternoon sun.
