This was a find. Yes, we had to wait, but that was no hardship as it was worth it. They do a split pizza for you - that is they'll do a large base and 50/50 the topping. It went down well with a very drinkable bottle of red wine. The waiters are friendly and it seems if you don't have tattoo you might not be hired. And as the DJ was having an 80s hour (before moving on to more recent music), it was heaven. Great atmosphere and music.

Piola had been recommended by our locals friends because we were trying to find a real italian pizza because we ate so much beef. Thanks to them we found it. The rucula with parmesan was our selection and it worth the wait!!

The ambiance, including the people-watching, and the above average service are certainly notable, but the pizza didn't seem that much better than any other pizza joint in Buenos Aires. I like Napolitano, New York and Chicago-style pizzas, though, and the thin crust here went limp pretty fast. Some unusual toppings and combinations but the cheese wasn't bubbly -- it never is in this city -- so I never went back. Good salad, though.

Most pizza places in Buenos Aires seem to go in for maximum crust, maximum (fairly tasteless) cheese and minimum tomato sauce. Pizza Piola offers thin, stone baked pizzas that are much closer to the sort of thing you get in Italy (if that's what you're after). They do a good range of toppings and the prices are pretty reasonable. Much better than we've had elsewhere in the city.

This fun pizza restaurant is packed with locals for lunch. Salads are great too. We Loved it after eating too much steak. Friendly staff. No complaints. Great location near recoleta.
