After reading about Home in every publication under the sun over the last few years, my expectations were way high. But I must report that they were not only met, but surpassed with some style. The hotel looks better than the pictures in the web, the garden area is a treasure, and the pool divine with blazing sun all day long. In fact, I have nothing bad to say about this place. They know what they are doing in every detail, right down to the excellent music played in the public areas (where most hotels & restaurants fail dismally). I also had possibly the best massage of my life at the spa (small & cute). To top it all it is a super cool hotel without the attitude of such places. All members of staff were nothing short of amazing. My only complain is that they did not have availability for my entire stay, so I had to book another hotel for the second part of my trip (that paled in comparison).

Cecelia and the staff at Home Hotel made the trip better than I could have ever imagined. They were always ready with a suggestion, made reservations for dinner, listened to our experiences and offered ideas that would complement that which we had already enjoyed, and recommended and booked an outstanding guide. The hotel was quiet, the rooms clean and comfortable. The daily breakfast was always a surprise. The infused juices and butter, the homemade marmalades and yogurt, and great coffee. Although the highlight was the "submarino", a hot chocolate drink served as hot milk with a chocolate bar that dissolves in the milk. The cocktails were creative and the music piped into the restaurant/bar was hip. This hotel is on the far end of Palermo relative to most of the other boutique hotels in the neighborhood and well worth the walk. I would not stay anywhere else.

Our trip to Buenos Aires came about not so much as needing to see the city but rather as a way to enjoy our anniversary without breaking the piggy bank. We had frequent flier miles to burn but didn't think we could afford Paris etc... so we opted for Buenos Aires. We read of all the side trips possible from Buenos Aires and realized that if we really wanted to relax and slow down with each other as best friends, we should simply find a great hotel and stay for the entire week. So the search began with Tripadvisor as our primary reference source but also using multiple others. We immediately noticed the disparity between popularity rankings and expense. Some of the most popular, such as Home were not going to cost a fortune whereas the five star biggies promised glitz galore but rooms began in the over five hundred dollar range and went much higher. Home began to intrigue us. The website set the tone with gentle music and soft humor. The pool and garden and outdoor dining area plus bar seemed just so inviting and disproportionately gracious given the small size of the hotel itself with less than twenty rooms. We also noticed that the hotel had been built as a hotel and not been converted from a private dwelling as had some of the competition. The reviews seemed too good to be true with everyone focusing on the caring qualities of the staff and management. A few negative reports however criticized the neighborhood as slightly seedy and unkempt. Well here is the deal: By and large the entire city of Buenos Aires needs some housekeeping so the neigborhood was just fine by those standards and beyond that Palermo is wonderfully quiet with large Plane trees arching over the cobbled streets, aroma of grilled beef, laughter, flowers, and a general mixture that constitutes a true neighborhood not just a strip for the grand hotels.
Upon our arrival from the airport in a car arranged by the hotel we were greeted by Cecelia. Smiling, she came out from behind the desk and sat with us in the comfy lobby sharing her gentle thoughts about her hotel, her city, Palermo and our stay. We became friends in an instant. Then we walked past the bar and pool to our room, which was the garden suite. Sliding doors to a private pool with vines on the outer walls flowing in the afternoon breeze. Skylite high above the large shower also with greenery. Living room with sofa and desk and a stairway up to the open roof garden, safe from prying eyes yet overlooking the neighborhood, Table, umbrella and chaise lounges all for our private use.
Since this review may go on far too long I'll try to wrap up the week by saying we did do a little sightseeing in town: Recoleta cemetery, the Modern Art museum and we did catch a wonderful tango show at El Viejo Almacen, thanks to Cecelia. But the rest of our week was spent blissfully pretty much poolside, gardenside, barside and outside with easy walks to the rest of Palermo Soho and Hollywood including some wonderful small restaurants. Our reservation only allowed five nites in our suite and then we moved to a superior room and felt no loss whatsoever. That was the amazing part. By then we felt quite at home at the Home Hotel. All the staff knew us and knew all the other guests as well and quite a mix it was representing Poland, Ireland,Holland, England,Italy, France, a few from the USA and others from latin countries. Even more surprising was that each of the staff; both Natalias, Daniel, Miguel, Imena, Gilda and others whose names have escaped me were all as warm and welcoming as Cecelia had been that first day. I also noted that the owners were on holiday and not on the premises but they would have been so proud to have observed how well all of the staff represented the establishment with each and every one exuding some pride of ownership on their own. We've been fortunate over the years in having stayed in some pretty fancy and wonderful places but never has there been such a feeling of warmth and friendliness coupled with professionalism as we experienced at Home. We came back to our own home in a refreshed state of mind and the glow hasn't faded yet. Thanks to all of you at Home.

Where to start we loved every minute of our stay!! We were spending five nights at Home as part of our honeymoon and we couldn’t have picked a better hotel.

We had suite which overlooks the pool and has its own small balcony. The room was large and decorated in a modern design with vintage wallpaper and polished concrete. The suite also had a Jacuzzi tub.

The service at the front desk was outstanding, they were able to answer every question we asked, they booked trips and reserved tables in restaurants and they also assisted us in booking buquebus to Uruguay.

My big concern was the location, I knew Palermo had great shops and restaurants but I was told it’s not safe to walk around at night and that you shouldn’t cross the railway tracks etc but the location was one of the best things about the hotel. We felt very safe wandering the streets of Palermo soho and Hollywood even late at night we felt safe enough to walk back to the hotel after eating and drinking in the many bars in the area. It was also nice not to be in the big built up part of the city, you could easily wander around and pass a day in the many local cafes and boutiques. We also used the subte (metro/underground) to get around and there were two stations within easy walking distance of the hotel. Would highly recommend using it as it’s cheap, clean, safe and much faster than getting a taxi during rush hour.

Apart from the delicious breakfast we never had a meal at the hotel only tapas which we can highly recommend. The cocktails were very tasty and the happy hour an added bonus.

We would recommend this are of BA to everyone and we would especially recommend home, we hope to return in the future.

My partner and I just completed a six night stay at Hotel Home. Half of it in a standard room on the second floor, the second half in suite #17 on the fourth floor.

ROOMS: Both rooms were nice, but for $100 more, you get something truly spectacular with the suite (see picture for a taste). If I could do it over again, I'd have booked the suite for the whole stay. Most will be very happy with the standard rooms, though - they're a good size for two, provided you're accustomed to urban-sized living quarters. Note: literally the only negative I had at this place was the shower in the standard room leaked a bunch out onto the bathroom floor (it's great design - a small pivoting glass panel, no curtain - just not very functional). Although there is a drain on the concrete floor, it was a small nuisance. No such problem with the design of the shower in the suite - that was fantastic...

STAFF: Some of the best service I've ever experienced in a lifetime of hotel-going. Totally responsive, charming, knowledgeable and warm. No matter how many questions you ask, I got a graciously accomodating response each time. We seriously considered renting an apartment in Palermo instead of staying at a hotel, but the quality/warmth of service at HOME made us more than happy that we didn't, especially on a first trip to BsAs. Miguel, Herval and Gilda were particularly outstanding. Take their recommendations - they know what they're talking about.

CLIENTELE: Mixed, but definitely skews younger and European/Europhile. Definitely not the place to bring kids or parents...unless your parents read Wallpaper* magazine and love The Strokes. Also saw quite a few solo men there on business, glued to their N-95s.

LOCATION: Although we found the location pretty wonderful, it's not going to be right for everyone. Palermo is very large and the hotel is not really in its "heart" - HOME is definitely in more of an "up and coming" part of Palermo. I would liken it to the SOWA district of Boston's South End or certain parts of Condesa in Mexico City (read: not dangerous to walk around, but definitely out of the way and still a tad rough in spots - for instance, if you're walking back to HOME down Honduras from Palermo Soho, you'll have to walk over some sketchy train tracks and past a gas station...that part won't look like the Buenos Aires most picture). If you look at a map of Palermo highlights, HOME is usually the highlight on the farthest corner of the map. That said, it's only 2-3 blocks away from a dozen fantastic restaurants. The Soho-like shopping is further away, but you'll be there in 15 minutes on foot (or you can just take a cab - they're everywhere). In summary, it's not close to the sights, but it's only a 15 minute (usually $3-5) cab ride to Recoleta/20 minutes to El Centro, so if you're comfortable with taking cabs, I recommend using them heavily and staying here - it's a peaceful little oasis of tasteful design and exceptional service/value in a very hip, up and coming barrio. If you have to be in the European-looking center of the city to feel happy with your stay, this isn't the place for you.

This is a terrific place to stay for the adventurous traveler who wants to have a peaceful place to hang out when not seeing sights/shopping/dining. The hotel is small, but in the summer, you really can while whole days away at the hotel - the garden/pool/bar has a great, peaceful vibe. For us, it was the perfect antidote to days spent in the classic (but hectic & smoggy) big city streets of downtown.

After writing this, I must admit - I'm HOMEsick.

We stayed at Home Hotel in Nov 08 for 3 nights. Right from the start the experience was great. All of the staff from security, to front of house, to restaurant were superb and that's what makes a good hotel...the staff.
Home is a really cool hotel and i don't mean a pretentious 'staff are cooler than the guests' sort of way but a 'the staff are very at ease with themselves and others' sort of way! We felt very comfortable there. Nothing was a problem. The staff were full of suggestions of where to go for dinner, tango, shoes(wife very happy)!
The decor and rooms are great. Well chosen furniture and colour scheme, and really comfortable. It's very much a hotel you can hang out in rather than just a room you sleep in.
The location is superb it's right in the heart of palermo (which is a great area), near lots of restaurants, shops(wife very happy).
Highly recommended!!
