Melia Recoleta Plaza
Ranked #52 of 443 Hotels in Buenos Aires
Reviewed 3 April 2014

The best feature of this hotel is its location. Within walking distance are simple cafes, more upscale restaurants, weekend crafts fair, pricey hotel boutiques (in the nearby grand dame hotels) and stores located street side and within the Bullfinch mall. Right in the midst of Recoleta, it is wonderful to stroll the streets and wind up back at the hotel. The building is actually a converted apartment house (Eva Peron once lived here) and the building facade blends into the streetscape.. That being said, this is a boutique property--the roof pool is small, our room was cozy, but quirky in shape, the bathroom a bit too compact. But the lobby/public area is elegant and lovely giving off a charming old world European vibe., Within 2 minutes of sitting down, somebody always came by to ask if we needed assistance or wanted to order from the bar or light menu. Our room was a deluxe king, with a small sitting area and a terrace/jacuzzi facing the indoor inner courtyard. Breakfast was a fine buffet, which after 5 mornings we wished was a little more inspired. We also felt the prices fair, given the ambiance and tone of the area and its location near so many of the super deluxe and super expensive name hotels. This would be a rave review if we had not had a mixed experience with the gentlemen at the front desk. There were two staff shifts, and one of the front desk men was fabulous-helpful, attentive to our requests, friendly and full of information and advice. The other fellow was noticably indifferent. One morning the hairdryer in our room was broken and we called down to the desk in a panic. Guess which of the two front desk people did not know if or where another hotel hairdryer might be, and guess which front desk person helped and found another appliance immediately? To the hotel's credit, the room/wall hair dryer was replaced in a day.
This illustrates how just one employee can influence a traveler's perception of a hotel. We do,
however, recommend The Recoleta Plaza to all and would definitely stay here again.

Just enjoyed a stay at the Melia. It was in a lovely, safe location in walking distance to cemetery and cafes. It's located on a quiet street with a Buquebus office right down the street should you wish to purchase tickets for ferry, ride to Colonia. The desk staff was SO accommodating with all our questions. Thank you one and all!! Breakfast was served everyday with access from 7:00 to 11:00. Perfect start to our day. There is an artisanal fair two blocks away on the weekend which was the perfect spot to purchase unique and affordable gifts to bring home. I highly recommend

The Melia was beautiful upon entering but the room was a little tired and dingy. The feel of the hotel did not follow to the room. This was an okay hotel but way overpriced. We did love how accessible it was to the area.

This was a hotel for a quick stopover between flights. I was pretty tired, but glad I took a quick nap and went out exploring the area. Buenos Aires is such a lovely city and this hotel is a great example of the charm this city has. The rooms were a bit old (reminded me of an Omni hotel), but classy nonetheless. Elevator was out of order for a bit, but all told the facility was nice. You are right in the heart of the Plaza Recoleta area so get out and see the sights!

We stayed in the Melia Recoleta Plaza in Jan 2014. The location is fantastic - Recoleta is very classy! We were fortunate enough to get a spacious room with a large bathroom which was very comfortable.

Our room rate included breakfast - the breakfast was excellent in my opinion - lots of choice of hot and cold food. We were full leaving the hotel every day! The staff was extremely helpful with information, booking taxis, changing currency - nothing was too much trouble.

The roof terrace and garden area for eating were both closed at that time of year but I am sure they are a nice addition in the peak season. Loved the character and history of the hotel, the convenient location, and the great service of the staff. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed at Melia RP for four nights on our way to Antarctic. It was a great place to stay. Very close to the Recoleta Cemetery and lots of cafes and shops. The breakfast buffet was very nice. While our room was on the small side, the bathroom was just great.

The location and staff are excellent. Liked the fine furnishing on the main floor. Food from the menu and breakfast buffet was good. The room we were in had a bad odor and the carpets in the room and hall needed cleaning. Baseboards and carpet next to baseboards had not been properly cleaned in some time.
