“Great value for its good location and great service!”
Reviewed 7 March 2010

Stayed there 3 nights in Mid-Feb. I agree with most of the comments posted here. There is a safe in our room and we found it to be very handy as we don't want to carry valuables when touring the city. Unlike some other posts, we found the room we had to be very quiet (not facing the street) and had no problem sleeping. The sheets are nice and clean. The bed seemed soft but I had no trouble sleeping, even though I have some back problem. I have to stress again how friendly and helpful the staff (Beatrice, Daniel and Ronnie are the ones we encountered) were. They helped us book tours, shows and answer our many queries with patience. For someone who doesn't speak Spanish, it is so nice to have such friendly help. When we were ready to leave and board our cruise ship with our huge luggages, we messed up the hotel's arrangement in getting taxi for our group (8 people) and tried to do our own. Problems ensued but Beatrice was still VERY VERY helpful in talking to the taxis we got ourselves to make sure they understood where to take us. That type of service deserves recognition!!!

We had 5 nights here, 3 nights in one room and another 2 nights in another room.

I agree with what most other reviewers have posted here. Whilst the hotel is a little antiquated and very plainly decorated, the rooms are clean and value for money. Those overlooking the Avenida de Mayo are fairly spacious. But the traffic noise can be a problem with these rooms. You have to choose between a small quiet room away from the Avenue or a big noisy room with a small balcony overlooking it. The bathrooms in both rooms were a good size. Be aware that the showers can be extremely slippery and don’t have any kind of mat to provide grip. In addition, there are no plugs for the sink.

Air conditioning is controlled centrally from reception. Whilst the first room we had was cool, the second got far too hot and we had to open the windows to keep the room in the mid 20s Celsius.

Breakfast was basic, but the service was fine. In fact, the front desk staff were also really helpful and friendly. The service, combined with the location and the price are the key selling points for the hotel.

Stayed for one night B&B at end of a tour. The building and rooms are a bit dingy but some work was being undertaken and this might improve. The single bedroom was a reasonable size but the bathroom was extremely small and you had to close the doort to get to the loo. That being said, it was clean and had everything I needed including room service. The food was good and reasonably priced but the main attraction was the location. It is extremely well placed for all you might want to do in BA and I think it unlikely you will get such good value elsewhere.

We've been there for 4 days. In the first day, they announced that the air-conditioned of our room was broken, and changed us twice. But they accommodated us in a four-bedded giant bedroom, with a balcony. In the second day, they gave us the right room. It was simple, but OK. The bath was small and clean.
The breakfast was modest ("medialunas" with butter, jam, "dulce de leche" and coffee and orange juice) but enough.
The location is great. Near the "Congreso" and metro station. Near there are some options to eat.
If you are traveling in a budget , the hotel Marbella is a good choice.

I was very happy with my stay in the Marbella Hotel. It was my first visit to Buenos Aires and the hotel is in a great location, 10 minutes walk from the Obelisk and the Congress and near a Metro station. The room was basic but clean, although there was some noise at night from the air conditioning units outside. The room also has a safe. The breakfast was included although was basic and repetitive after 5 days! The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful, offering tips on how to spend time and would book tours for you too.

Decent hotel in a great location for walking around downtown near the Obelisco. Subway stop very close to hotel also.
With email communication I easily booked a room via the hotel's website. (Website also available in English & other languages.)
The pictures on its website are accurate though the hallways and my room had a strong dingy/smokey feeling. (As if in the past people chain smoked throughout the entire building.)
The bathroom was clean and all parts to the bathroom worked very well. There was no window in the bathroom so the use of the shower will steam up your room.
There's a nice sized elevator to get your bags up to your room. However, once inside the front door you have to go up some stairs to get to the front desk.
The cafeteria was busy for each breakfast and the workers did their best to accomodate the great amount of customers. The slightly slow service wasn't bothersome given the circumstances. (And anyway, the free continental breakfast isn't more than a few tiny rolls & coffee/tea)
Staff was friendly and helped me get taxi service to the airport at 4am. (Reserved the night before with the hotel's private taxi driver at a reasonable 25 dollars.)
For the 35-ish USD I paid for a decent place to stay in Buenos Aires, it was worth it! I'll look this place up again when I go back unless I find another comparable place (location, price, etc.) with better reviews.

  • Liked — Walking distance to subway & Obelisco
  • Disliked — Dingy/smokey room w/ no ventilation

The hotel is cheap, so don´t expect too much. There is carpet everywhere and you have to ask the reception to turn the air conditioner on, but the rooms are clean and there is a charming cafe where breakfast is served.
The staff is friendly and helpful and the location is very good. If your looking for a cheap place to stay this is a very good option.
