“A home away from home”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2010

We absolutely loved Posada Palermo. Right from the start of our 6 night stay, we felt at home, thanks primarily to the cozy atmosphere of the place and the fantastic staff who were warm, welcoming and helpful. We were also welcomed by a well-trained, gentle dog and three cats - no worries unless you're severely allergic though. The pets all stay in communal areas only and don't go near the bedrooms. Every morning we had an excellent breakfast with eggs cooked to order, toasted sandwiches, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee/cappucino, pastries, homemade bread and a variety of spreads. There is also free internet access and a large living room area and garden for relaxing.

We stayed in room 4 and even with three people, we had plenty of room. The room is located at the front of the house and next to the main entrance, but we never had any problems with noise and didn't hear any other guests coming and going. The bathroom was also quite roomy and had a steamy hot shower. There was even a bidet - very European! Viviana, the owner, also provides a helpful folder in each room that contains all the information you'll need while staying at Posada Palermo - we used it nearly everyday!

Posada Palermo is located near Bulnes subte station and is within 10-15 minute walking distance of central Palermo Viejo and all its restaurants and boutiques. The neighbourhood is safe and quiet with a supermarket and bank just around the corner. Entry to the B&B is controlled by a buzzer with a video camera, so we felt it was very secure.

We loved this place and would very enthusiastically recommend it to anyone travelling to Buenos Aires no matter how long your stay.

My husband and I stayed at Posada Palermo for four nights in mid-March, and we would definitely recommend it. One highlight was a fantastic breakfast every morning, which included eggs cooked to order, grilled sandwiches, pastries, cookies, and homemade yogurt and bread. It was fun to swap stories with other travelers at the big breakfast table. The other highlight was the staff--from the moment we arrived (to snacks and drinks), we felt very taken care of. Viviana, the owner, was friendly and gracious, and Alejandro (“guest relations”) went above and beyond to provide help and hospitality. A water cooler was always available for hot/cold water (which was a huge plus for us) and there was a bulletin board near the entrance with lots of restaurant and activity suggestions. Free wi-fi and a computer with Internet access was also a really nice plus, although there was often a wait to use the computer, and it was also very slow. The room we stayed in was small, but was pretty much what we expected—had a very comfortable bed, a small bathroom, and a TV, plus some nice amenities like a wardrobe, hair dryer, and phone for local calls. Though the room was on the main hallway to the kitchen, noise was not a problem at all. Security was also not much of a concern—there was a safe in the room, and in order to get into the B&B you needed to ring a bell and identify yourself via video camera. The B&B is about a 10-minute walk to the D subway line and then a few stops away from downtown. We enjoyed exploring the parks in the area, and found several restaurants that were within walking distance (try Las Remanseros and Las Glorias). All in all, a great place to stay if you want to be in Palermo.

Very friendly and attentive staff and the best breakfast we had in Argentina (including the breakfast at big expensive hotels).

We stayed here when we first arrived in the country and immediately felt at home. It was a great way to start the strip and to settle into to the bustle and hustle of Buenos Aires.

The only reason why I am not giving PP 5 starts is because I feel that at USD 125 a night it is not the best value for money in Palermo, although I would not hesitate to stay there again. We loved it.

We had a splendid five nights at Posada Palermo. Viviana and her staff are welcoming, fun and helpful. Varied and tasty breakfasts were most welcome after the paltry offerings at other B&B's we've experienced in the past. The dog and cats were fun to have around. We loved our comfy room (#5) and its spacious bath and walk in closet, with a small, plant filled terrace (some chairs out there would be even better). Wifi was spotty during our stay due to problems with local cable provider, but we admit, we're SUPPOSED TO BE ON VACATION and not messing about on the internet. Local restaurants are good (it would be great to have a list or map of them). Good value (we appreciated the discount for five or more nights. Thank you, for being a great part of our stay in BA!

I always book my stays through a travel agent. This time, while in Rio, I had to cancel a stay in Chile due to the earthquake and could not contact my agent to make a substitution. Another guest at the Rio hotel suggested Buenos Aires and Trip Advisor. I read the reviews and decided on this B&B. What a wonderful place! and what dedicated staff! the owner, the manager and the kitchen staff will stand on their heads to make sure that the guests have a totally positive stay. The accomodations are fantastic and the breakfast offers any thing that anybody could possibly want,

We just checked out after 6 nights. We had a great visit. Breakfast was great, the hosts were great, the other guests were fascinating. We enjoyed walking around the area and have only great things to way about our visit.

I think this B&B suffers from a new disease called 'trip advisor-ism'. Basically, they know they have had such good reviews on tripadvisor (when you use their computer it automatically opens up to their site on trip advisor), that they charge these high prices. Yes the B&B is in a nice old building, the rooms are individually designed, the staff helpful, cute dog and the breakfast delicious, however it is not in the nice area of palermo soho (20mins walk, not safe at night) and I don't believe that a windowless dark room with a tiny old bathroom is worth $125. I was surprised to read that other reviewers believed that this place was value for money, as compared to other hotels we have stayed in BA this certainly wasn't. Reading previous newspaper clippings I saw that the rates used to be under $100, this would be justified, but at this inflated price I would not stay here again next year or recommend it.

Dear Nulpi and Co. First, thanks for your review, because the best way to learn, grow and improve is to listen to our guests.
We strive for the total satisfaction of our guests and feel very bad that we failed to achieve it with you.
We also feel an obligation to respond to your criticisms of our place.
WINDOWS. Unfortunately, you didn’t specify the room that you occupied, but all our rooms have windows, two to the street, two to the garden, one with its own terrace, and the last two rooms have widows to the hallway with two ADDITIONAL high windows to the central patio.
BATHROOMS. This type of house was built with only one bathroom at the back, we have built a totally new bathroom for each of the seven rooms. Because we are exploring how we can be more environmentally responsible “the right thing to do” and we want to keep the decorum of the house, we recycled materials and were able to keep the 1912 type of decorum, while incorporating all the modern conveniences.
LOCATION. We are in the high ground of Palermo, the part that NEVER floods and in the middle of three zones within SEVEN minutes (walking) of all three, Palermo Soho, the Shopping Center with its theaters and the botanical gardens. The neighborhood is very safe and none of our guests has ever had any problem in the area.
PRICE. We have not changed our rates since the last expansion and remodeling in 2008 in spite of the fact that Argentina´s inflation has exceeded 30%, even when measured in US dollars.
Best regards,

Viviana Corte (owner)
