Description: A little basket full of trully homemade bread rolls awaits on every table for diners, so they can choose from some of the many delights on the menu. As an appetizer, diners can choose a classic Polenta a la Bolognese; Olives Ascolanas (Olives stuffed with batter-fried veal) or the Eggplant Parmigiana (eggplant au gratin with parmesan cheese, tomato and basil). Sottovoce offers a really interesting variety of pasta, all made with hard semolina of candeal wheat and egg. Stuffed Pasta is actually homemade, whereas dried textured pasta, such as Tagliatelle or Maltagliati, is provided by a pasta factory. Dishes like Maltagliati alla Bolognese or Pappardelle with Mushrooms (cream, dried mushrooms, chanterelles, mushrooms and portobellos) are plentiful, delicious and trully Italian. But although pasta is the Queen of the Menu, a tasty Sirloin with sweet-pepper sauce (with potato fries and grilled onions) and Curried Chicken Spezzatino and Almonds with rice is also offered. Desserts are plainly wonderful: Profiteroles with Strawberry and Vanilla ice-cream, Creamed Crepes (flambéed with vanilla ice-cream), Tiramisú (1oo% Mascarpone cheese) and the exuberant Chocolate Vulcano, are some of the many recommended desserts. Homemade ice-cream is also exquisite. Some flavours are really outstanding, such as Tangerine or Maracuya.

This is one of the best Buenos Aires Italians, but does not measure up to the best in the Cote d'Azur, expect in style which is spot on the nice dockside places in, say, Menton or Antibes. The have a daily special rabbit, usually a stew of some sort, which is always quite good. I'll return happily.

Had dinner with a larger business group at the Sottovoce. It's a good choice; there wasn't much to criticize. Prices are high for Argentinean standards, but not necessarily for foreigners (depending on which exchange rate you use). Everyone was happy with their food; veggie choice is naturally good as this is an Italian restaurant. The only thing I'd criticize was that the presentation of desserts on the plate wasn't as nice as the main dishes; i.e. they could have been prepared with a bit more affection especially given the waiting time. But anyway, I'd go back to Sottovoce.

This is a family run restaurant with an excellent river view and a fresh, bright interior.

We were welcomed, for lunch with a complimentary Kir Royale, lots of bread and various side dishes.

We had the green seafood tagliatelle which they split as the said it's too much for one person. It was excellent. Friends ordered the pizza, again way too much food.

The bill came. It was less than a down market Italian chain eatery, only we received first class service, excellent food and can thoroughly recommend the experience.

Older crowd, but completely packed on a Friday night at 9pm. We went on our last night in Buenos Aires and it was certainly one of the best meals we've had in BA or anywhere. I ordered the cannelloni and my husband ordered the squid pasta with shrimp. Both of us practically licked our plates clean. The pasta is made in house and the sauces were delicate and really allowed the flavors of the dish to shine through. I can't wait to get back to BA for my next visit to this place. The interior is a bit outdated, but this didn't matter by the end of the meal. Good values for wine as well.

Soto Voce, Libertador location, is one of our old standbys in Buenos Aires. We have eaten there 4 times over the past two years and are headed back again in November 13.

The location in Recoleta is a safe, convenient walk from both the Park Hyatt and nearby Alvear Palace. The ambience is typical of an Italian bistro/eatery. Their pastas are excellent with the Rotolo alla Bolognese being a favorite. The full service bar offers an excellent assortment of mixed drinks and the wine list contains a good selection of Argentine producers.
