“A Joke Friends invited us to dinner and...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2010

A Joke
Friends invited us to dinner and left the venue up to us.
We were embarrassed by our choice.
We booked for a Tuesday night a week in advance asking for a prime table for 4. Neverthless, we were forced to sit in the back room eventhough tables were available up front. No windows, no light and no decor. Dull!
Although English native speakers we all spoke enough Spanish to conduct service in the local tongue. Our waitress insisted on speaking very poor English and thrust an English language menu at us. I wouldn't mind but the English menu was as unintelligible as the teenager forcing it upon us.
We ordered Kobe beef and the Molleja terrine. All very poor. The 4 main plates were served 20 minutes apart.
It was a shambles from start to finish.
I have nothing positive to say whatsoever.
A disgrace, especially for the top-end bill.
Beware!

“Terrible, worst experience in Buenos Aires. Go anywhere else.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 May 2010

They screwed up our order twice. We waited over an hour and a half for our entree. The beef was the worst cut we had ever seen. The duck was completely tasteless. To top it off in a place trying so hard to be pretentious they were playing depressing hits from the late years of Johnny Cash durring dinner. The place was almost empty and for good reason. Of all the great places to eat in Buenos Aires, this is the worst.

“Don;t bother”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2010

Waste of a night. So disappointed that we came here. Horrible, cold, echoey space. My sweetbread terrine was overcooked, my rabbit lasagne was dried out and looked as if it had sat underneath the heat lamp for too long. My hubby had beef tartare, which was ok, and quail which was not very flavorful. The skin was also not crispy enough. Sommelier (if he was one) didn't seem too knowledgeable. My chocolate cake was hard and dry. Two tables near us finished and left while we were in the middle of dinner - they did not clear these tables until we were done with dessert. Very bad. They did not bother to clear the crumbs off of our table, but they did this for someone else. Bathroom smelled like cheap air freshener - at a high end restaurant this should never be the case. Don't go!

“a mixed blessing...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2009

We recently came back to Thymus after having gone to this restaurant two years in a row. Yes, the environment is still very romantic and cozy, an old house converted into a quiet and charming place, but the food has not kept up with the price increases. The service is superb, however. We were looking forward to eating there, but after two consecutive dinners, we had to resign ourselves that the cuisine is not what it was earlier....
