“Great place to stay in trendy Palermo area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2014

This is a small boutique hotel, with a very similar sister hotel in Salta where we also stayed.

Like Salta this is a very private place with good security. The library area on the ground floor is simply beautiful.

Our room on the first floor was large and very comfortable. There is WIFI available.

We enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine in the evening and the breakfast was more than enough without being excessive.

The staff were attentive and helpful.

The hotel is located just 100m or so from the trendy Palermo restaurant and bar area so there is plenty to look at when you walk around.

We were only there one night, but thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms - Primera Dama - and would advise anyone to spend that little bit extra and do the same.

The second floor room overlooked the rear courtyard and was spacious, tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean, comfortable and quiet (other than for other guests making an early start!).

Located in the lively area of Palermo Soho we were close to good restaurants and exclusive shops and were able to sample the lively nightlife without any loss of sleep.

The hotel itself is very secure with the front door kept locked at all times. Reception was discreetly manned by very helpful and courteous staff who all spoke excellent English. It seemed as if nothing was too much trouble.

Adjacent to the pleasant breakfast area there is a spacious and well stocked library which includes a large selection of guide books to Argentina in general as well as Buenos Aires in particular, plus a wide choice of reading and coffee table books.

The only slight criticism concerns the quality of the breakfast. The fresh orange juice, yoghurt, set berry fruit, cheesecake and bread were all good. But the eggs, coffee, pastries and bread rolls were not.

All in all a gem of a small hotel. Recommended.

Our second stay at Legado Mitico, the first time two years ago, and I was so pleased to find that nothing had changed apart from improved lighting in the rooms and the provision of body lotion with the toiletries, the lack of which were my only criticisms during our last stay. The lemon drink was still there for breakfast! I can't understand criticism of breakfast, there's a variety of cheese, meats, bread, pastries, fresh fruit, poached fruit, fruit salad, empanadas ... We stayed in the Liberator room in honour of General San Martin, greatly revered in Argentina. The staff at this hotel are kind and helpful and unpretentious. They arranged for us to have a really late checkout which we appreciated very much. The lounge area is fabulously decorated with books and memorabilia including many travel books which were very useful. The lounge is quiet and a very comfortable area to sit and read or have a pre-dinner drink. Palermo is a way from the main centre of Buenos Aires but the Plaza Italia Subte train is a short walk from the hotel and taxis are cheap. This hotel has been unforgettable for us on both occasions we've stayed.

My husband and I spent our 30th anniversary in Buenos Aires at Legado Metico. The vibe was everything I had hoped for and more. The historic, yet chic, Argentinian essence of the hotel radiates throughout. The tranquility of the dining area and library/lounge were perfectly designed to be both inviting & calming; exuding a wonderfully Latin flavor, which was further enhanced by the splendidly soothing tango music lingering in the air. Our room, El Tanguero was romantic, quiet and had a super comfortable bed. The location is perfectly Soho, with a plethora of hip shops and delectable restaurants at your doorstep. Last but not least, was the superb hospitality!! Legado Mitico's consistently professional, helpful and friendly service are a huge plus. And, in our 30 years together we have traveled the our world and in our experience it ranks way in the top.

My daughters and I arrived at Legado Mitico near the end of our Argentinean vacation on December 30. After two days in Iguazu to see the falls, and nearly three in Mendoza, I needed a respite. The hotel staff arranged a tour of the city for the three of us, and pointed my daughters to places nearby to do some shopping (allowing me to stay at the hotel, enjoy a glass or two of wine, and finish two books), Legado Mitico is a beautiful hotel, with impeccable service (one of the owners personally saw to it that an electrical issue was repaired on New Years Eve) and I would return without hesitation.

Lovely boutique hotel, with friendly and efficient staff. We arrived early, well before our room was due to be ready and it was pouring with rain, so they supplied us with complimentary coffee and invited us to make ourselves comfortable in the library, then they asked housekeeping to prioritise our room once it had been vacated and were able to give us early access about 90 minutes later.

Our room was excellent, 'El Heroe', which was a superior room, it was very spacious and extremely comfortable.

They kindly organised for breakfast to be ready a few minutes early to accommodate those of us leaving early. There wasn't a massive choice each day but it was good, fruit and yoghurts, freshly squeezed orange and a selection of good bread and pastries. The cooked option didn't seem so good, it was sitting around for a while.

We loved the locality, it was lively and buzzy with lots of cafés and bars and small shops. We didn't feel any concerns about walking around Palermo Soho, but felt less comfortable in others, Palermo Hollywood for example. The area isn't as polished as Recoleta but it more than compensates with atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Legado Mitico to friends.

Legado Mitico, a small family-owned, boutique hotel in Palermo Soho, was one of the redeeming features in our five pre-cruise days in Buenos Aires. The staff was hospitable and helpful, our room El Tanguero, dedicated to singer, songwriter, composer, and actor Carlos Gardel, was quite comfortable [although dark and entered through one of the notorious [a previous review], and noisy metal doors, the common spaces were delightfully warm, and the typical Argentinian [basic] breakfast, was adequate. {It was similar in content and presentation to that served in every other small, boutique hotel in which we stayed during our visit to el Norte, but quite abbreviated in comparison to the feast we experienced at BsArs Sofitel on our way home].
We were disappointed with Palermo Soho - the neighborhood, in general, not the immediate vicinity of Legado Mitico. There were some decent restaurants [and Legado Mitico directed us to them], but the shoping was not exceptional - the stores were sadly empty - and there were none of the galleries that Ricoletta offers in abundance. As compared to that latter neighborhood, the sidewalks were littered and a bit more intimidating. In fairness to Palermo Soho -to which we walked warily from all the way from MALBA- our first impression of BsArs was dealt a devastating blow by the theft of my wife's watch from her wrist near Plaza de Mayo very soon after our arrival. Between pilfer and dog poop, Palermo didn't stand a chance! Whether one stays in the Center, Ricoletta, Palermo, or elsewhere, all points of entry into the city should have explicit warnings about the potential for criminal activity and the appropriate precautions to prevent it.
