Had real trouble finding this place, as even the locals didn't seem to know where abouts it was. Lack of signage could be the main problem here!
When we did finially find it, it was huge. Rambling everywhere but again no entrance sign etc. We needed two double rooms and they initially showed us two rooms in the courtyard of the hotel. They were like cells!Been there since the year dot I think. Bunk like beds and very dark. When we said no they then offered us a cottage down the other end of the property. This had to be a new addition as there were about six cottages around a courtyard that looked very new.
We were running out of time so decided to take the cottage offered.$220 p for 4 of us to stay.
Very basic. Clean but we did have problems with using the bathroom. Door wouldn't close and it was extra small! Didn't matter for one night but i wouldn't like it for longer. At 2.0am gardeners came around the cottage weeding and watering. never struck that before! Scared the living day lights out of us to wake up to a man wedding alongside the bedroom window!
Tried the swimming pool which looked great, but it was so jolly cold none of us could manage to get in. Believe me, we tried as it was a hot day. Just too cold.
Cottage comes with a stove and fridge, all very basic.
We decided to have dinner there at night and we were pleased we had. One of the best meals we had in our travels in the back country. We didn't get a choice, just got a dinner.
No english spoken but with our limited spanish we managed. I think the place is used mainly in winter for skiing, I could be wrong, but it looked like it.We were the only people staying there.A couple of locals came in for drinks at the bar when we were having dinner, but that is all we saw.Beds were hard and not that comfortable but were O.K. for a night. if you get to the town, go to the end of the main street, turn left and go up the hill until you come across the hotel on your right. You should see the swimming pool to give you a clue as to where it is, otherwise it is hard to find. It is the biggest building in the town!Really old and dark.
They also leave two or three alsations roaming the property at night. They seemed to be friendly but don't know if i would risk walking outside late at night.
