This hostel is the worst hostel I´ve ever stayed in..
I booked a twin room on line for two nights for me and my partner,we had arrived after a 15hr bus journey.
-We specified what time we would be arriving and the room wasn't ready.
-We got a room with 2 sets of bunks, not what we had booked.
-The beds look very old(i was scared i might catch something from them) and they had no linen on them(wouldn't be ready for another 4hrs)
-There was no key for our private twin room, also no key lock(meant to be provided)for locker in room-lucky we had our own.
-4hrs later still no linen but then they suddenly "found" some for us when we went down to ask,we slept on our towels over the sheets.
-Still no key for private room that night,no lock on the inside of door and they had no other private rooms for us to move to,that night someone came into the private room and stole money as we slept.
-We complained the next morning and were assured that the key would arrive that morning and the staff member said he'd personally take care of it and look after our backpacks in the room while we were out on a tour that day,we believed him.
-Later that day we arrived back to fine our private room door wide open, backpacks in full view and never mind no key, there was no handle on the door.
-We complained again to a new member of staff but he didn't know what was going on,the member of staff earlier didn't leave him a handover note.
-Eventually the door handle and the key arrived, over 32hrs later.
-The next day,the staff wanted to move the other set of bunk beds from our room for a group of guys arriving,we suggested that if they had a double we'd move instead,we were paying 50 pesos for the twin and the staff member told me the double was 60 pesos.
-We stayed in that room for 3 days,it was fine apart from the fact that it didn't lock from the inside and i was sick of complaining so we left it.we knew it was booked for the coming weekend and asked the staff was a twin available for that same weekend, they said yes.
-When that weekend came we packed up to move rooms to be told there was no twin available.the staff member said he had a dorm..
-This is when i just had enough, everything was wrong with this hostel and i wasn't staying any longer.the staff member said he ring around to other hostels to find us a room, which he did for 90 pesos,we just took it to get out of this hostel.
-We had my money out ready to pay up and the staff member said he'd give us a discount because of all the crap we'd been through.when he told us the total i nearly feel over,it was double what if was meant to be even with the discount.i asked him to explain how it possibly be that much, then he said the double was actually 120 pesos, the other staff member had given us the wrong price it was actually 60 pesos EACH,which was the very important word she failed to mention. we came to a price less than what it was but still more than we expected.
This place really put a damper on our visit to Mendoza. so don't stay in this hostel unless you like being messed about,we stayed longer than we should have and gave the place to many chances in the belief it was a good price.the staff don't know how to communicate with each other or the guests, the owner is more concerned about his restaurant out front than the hostel and the people in it and with the prices of his dishes he could well afford some new beds.also don't believe the photos of this hostel on any website, the "pool" isn't that big,the photos are very tight.
Mendoza is hard to get some reasonable priced beds in the place at short notice so book well in advance so you don't end up in a place like this..
