Hi everybody!
I'm from Ireland and I came to Mendoza to have a good time and thats exactly what I did!
In total I stayed a good 10 days in Campo Base and I loved it, felt like me own casa!
Breakfast was lovely, the rooms were trankilo and clean and the friendly atmosphere was brilliant!
I got to do loads of activities with the hostel and I would strongly recommend the following:
-BBQ/asado night (lots of tequilla jeje)
-Pizza Night
-Day Rafting (great CRACK)
-Day in high mountain (saw aconcagua, penitentes and punte Inca INCREDIBLE!)
-and of course the Wine Bike Tour!! Drink wine and ride bikes all day! Loved it so much!

Oh and nearly forgot the staff!! very helpful especially the receptionist Ceci who recomended me all of these activities above. She is always there to help out with any doubts or questions that I had. The staff is what makes a good hostel!

I would strongly recommend Campo Base to any traveler/tourist !

Slainte!

Stayed here for 4/5 nights was a great base for Mendoza! Lovely breakfasts, clean rooms although the big dorm is a bit cramped for space.
And a cask of red wine in the common area if you want to enjoy a glass!
I would recommend the gaucho horse riding tour from here also, great experience and lovely BBQ! Friends did the rafting tour also which they loved!
Most of all which made our stay here was Cecilia! She helped with tours, organising things for us and lots of friendly and helpful advice!!! She is a real gem!! Thank you!

We did a half day bike and wine tour around Mendoza, which we booked through Youth Travel Argentina office in Mendoza (associated with HI). The girl that we booked with was very helpful and made sure we knew what was included (however many others on the tour apparently were not clear on what to expect).
The bus was 1 hour late in picking us up. Further, the guide made no effort to talk to any of us, and was not friendly at all. Luckily the other people on tour were very friendly.
The tour took us to 3 wineries, the first 2 gave short tours of the cellars and described the wine making process (a bit repetitive the 2nd time), and then we got some tastings (5 at the first, then 2, then only 1 at the last place). Lastly we visited a 'cerveceria' or brewery where we were given a pint and a couple of empanadas. However, our major complaint was that we were expecting to ride between wineries. We rode about 5km.. we were told it would be 14.. but after the last winery the guide packed the bikes into the trailer and said it was to far and too late to ride to the brewery..
Basically we rode bikes for a total of 15mins, got a couple of wine tastings, and got no smiles from the guide.. waste of money really.

The staff are the jewels in the crown. Johanna, Flo and Cecile are so friendly and helpful.

We stayed in a room of 9, and the bunks are three beds high - awesome! It's like a huge cabin of a ship.

Free tea, coffee, cake and jelly all day. Great excursion deals, like a half day bike tour of the wineries, and the Andes coach trip (try not to be drunk for this - our mistake)

They show football on the TV regularly, and have good wifi.

STAY HERE!

:)

Room Tip: The 9 bed dorm has black out curtains for each bed, and a light - so you can have your own space, ev...

I can't fault the staff here they were extremely helpful and very friendly. The hostel has some good food/party nights in conjunction with other hostels nearby which I think is a good idea and there are some good offers on food. We did two trips with this hostel. The first was the 'Wine Tour' which was disappointing. As another reviewer stated it is only available in the morning which is not much fun after partying the previous night. Firstly, the bus and tour guide were nearly an hour late, having said that the tour guide was quite good. Our first stop was an organic vineyard which was extremely interesting and we got a great tour from one of the staff, she was very knowledgeable. The wine was also nice. However, the next two vineyards were disappointing and were not worth the cycle, one of which had no white wine for sampling! Our second tour went much better it consisted of abseiling at Cachuete followed by a hot spring with the most beautiful backdrop of the Andes. The hostel itself was only okay. The 9 bed dorm we stayed in was comfortable but slightly chilly. There was one large storage heater outside the room which I hovered around regularly in a bid to get warm. The toilets/shower rooms were pretty terrible. One of the toilets had a door which would not lock and the other had a poor flushing mechanism which meant that you would regularly be greeted by the remnants of someone else's digestive system (please excuse the imagery conjured). The showers were the source of some anxiety for me as there was just a shower curtain to separate them from the resulting unsavoury smelling toilets. Also, the water wasn't always hot, at times it would just manage lukewarm. During our stay, some of the male patrons had an issue with the mens bathroom/shower room on the ground floor and as a result one or two of them would use the women's one. Also there are two computers but only one of them works and I use the term 'works' quite loosely as there were regular problems with it. Overall, quite disappointing. With a little effort put into the hostel by management/owners it could be much better.

Staff is very nice and friendly and breakfast is amazing! HOWEVER the place is filthy, tiny and extremely uncomfortable. The showers look like they haven't been cleaned for months, there are only 4 toilets for the whole hostel (boys and girls), out of which only 2 work at any given time. Bathrooms are shared and tiny. Also wifi drops every few minutes and the only computer is extremely slow. Just stay away from this hostel! It seems cool in the pictures... But it's not.

9 of us booked a winery bike tour with Campo base and although the tour guides were pleasant the tour was very disapponting. To start the only option was a morning tour - not optimal for a winery tour! They were also late to pick us up by 45 minutes meaning the whole tour was rushed. The first winery was nice but then we jumped on our bikes and ride for 15minutes along a highway to another winery. After another rushed tasting of tasteless wine, we rode for a further 10 mintues to our final tasting. We had bought a cheese platter and a bottle if wine to share at the last winery and checked with the tour company before hand, who had said that was fine. But once we set up our picnic we were immediately forced to leave to get back to Mendoza! Very annoying!

It was certainly not the relaxing, indulgent experience I was expecting. Very poor and disappointing. My advice is to spend a little more money and make sure you know what is included.
