First was the best internet of our entire 5 weeks.
We were delighted to have stayed here, we did quite a bit of review searching and picking the location + the kitchen and that there was lots of good reports .We could not have made a better choice. Very close to all the cool things to walk to see and lots of good restaurants and sightseeing within a short walk.
Could make coffee in the morning and enjoyed having breaky without having to go out. You can cook a full meal but likely you will be going out for that as there are so many good places to check out at reasonable prices, of course with great malbec ! The staff here were so helpful on any questions we had and they are honest about what they will tell you. We did a bike wine tour one day, easy riding and fun, the map the wine tour place gave was not all that great but got the job done, we had some laughs after where we ended up by not looking closer where it told us to go, we don't speak any Spanish so it was our fault as there was a tiny arrow to one winery we missed. Mendoza is quite a big city, over 2 million. It has a magical charm, most of the streets have huge trees that form a very picturesque corridor which also provides some shade. Lots of things to do and likely not enough time to enjoy them all unless you stay for 1 or 2 weeks, we stayed 4 nights, and wished we had more time. Still filled our boots
We are leaving feeling like we checked out one of the most memorable places in our journeys in life. The people of Argentina are very gentle and curious about foreigners, when the mention of Canada came up and we told them we loved Argentina they all beamed with smiles. You can easily fall in love with this country. They are gentle nice people ! Some do try with a bit of English, try to speak very slow and you will get more out of it.
We stayed for just over 5 weeks in ARG, did Patagonia and will finish off in Buenos Aires after here. I already feel like we will miss this place and especially Martin the owner, very interesting person with a flare for art, décor and how to enjoy life. You will get to meet him and hopefully share the same view as us, this review may seem a bit long but thought we might write a bit more so to help others, please do read about this place and don't make your expectations too high. These are hard working nice people who sincerely care about you. its not perfect but in our view one of the best places we have ever stayed and for a good price.
The art gallery is interesting, grab a beer or wine and check it out, sit outside on the top floor patio and see nice trees and a cool peek a boo view of some of the city buildings.
We were lucky to get a suite with a patio. Some people made mention of noise in other reviews, its not noisy at all, its in the city core on a fairly busy street so of course there is some street noise, we had 0 issues with sleeping. The location allowed us to walk to most of the city core places one would want to visit. Our last day today was an expensive wine tour which we were a bit shy about at first, when going over it all it became clear this was worth the risk and in the end one of the best days ever ! Finished up at a quaint little winery called La Azul, at first it seemed like a sleepy little place on the main road in the Uco valley of prestigious wineries and they are by far the best of the best. La Azul is owned and run by a 3rd generation gent who gave up his veterinarian career to continue the family tradition. Humble people who really know what they are doing, the most amazing lunch with wine parings ever, the food and wines were the best of our entire trip. Can't say enough about this place. I am titling it the "Sleeping Giant"
The other wineries were top notch. Its a special trip and stunning scenery. 1-1.5 hours drive each way and a magical trip. If your considering this tour its worth the buks at $185 US per person. Everything is included, deluxe service. Worth splurging.
Well I am starting to ramble, a final thanks to Martin and his staff for a memorable stay, all the best. ! I hope this helps others to decide what is best. If your English speaking remember your in their country its different, embrace them, t be patient you will be rewarded if you remember this in your travels.
