Quinta Rufino Bed&Breakfast
Ranked #62 of 172 Speciality Lodging in Mendoza
Reviewed 23 November 2011

I was staying at Quinta Rufino Hostel on 13 November to 20 (one week). Everything was as described was correctly. The selection factor this time was the price of lodging and Hostel proximity to the microcenter of the city and convention center.
The entire staff was very receptive, satisfactory accommodations (to sleep and go for walks or work the next day) and good executive breakfast.
Thanks all atention, certainly come back another time and recommend the place.

This is a decent budget hostel in a quiet section of Mendoza halfway between the squares and the park. I recently stayed with my boyfriend for five nights, and we were happy with with the accomodations and the price. The hostel is relatively basic, but clean and mostly quiet, with an exceptionally friendly staff. $40 US per night got us a room with a hard double bed, a private bath, and a fuzzy 70s era television (do they still make Telefunkens?). The rate included a typical Argentine breakfast of medialunas (croissants), coffee, tea, and juice. We were able to book through Hotels.com and we had no problem with the reservation upon arrival. While the hostel itself is rather average, the staff went out of their way to help us set up day tours and restaurant reservations. Overall, a good value for the money.

I've stayed at Quinta Rufino by myself on a visa run, with friends, and with my boyfriend, for a total of three times and will stay there again in the future. I've stayed in one of the newer rooms that was little more than some boards with 8 beds thrown in (luckily, I was the only one in there and got everything to myself at the dorm rate), an excellent triple, and a great private. The quality at this hostel may not be consistent, but it certainly isn't bad. Everything's clean, the staff is very informative and friendly (although their English was non-existant the last time I visited), and the breakfasts are delicious. The quiet residential street is between 'downtown' and the park and is a great base for hours of rambling through the city on a quiet afternoon.

Room Tip: If you want a queen bed, chose the private closer to the entrance.

Recently spent 4 nights here and can recommend it.... although the rooms are a bit basic it is clean, has comfy beds and decent bathrooms. The staff were very friendly to me too which is nice when you are travelling solo.

It is in a pretty quiet location but only 10 minutes walk from Plaza Independencia where everything is centered, it is also only 20 mins walk to Parque San Martin which is well woth a visit.

A iple with private bathroom was only 80 pesos (inc. breakfast) which has to be outstanding value,

Room Tip: I used Kahuak for excursions - very good

I booked this place based on the good reviews I saw, but I was very disappointed. The first room they gave me was a private room with shared bathroom in the back of the hostel. It was really gross (no windows, smelled, dirty spreads, slanted bed), so I asked if I could move to the front room with private bathroom. It was more expensive, but worth the switch, even though the bathroom toilet was leaking onto the floor. Although I was planning to stay for 4 or 5 days, I moved to another place the next day.

The staff payed very good attention to the guests. They were so friendly! They also provided nice tours. We went on a day trip to the mountains. You could book it one day, and the next day you were picked up with a bus at the hostel. The breakfast was simple, but nice.
I was also very pleased with the location. Very close to the area where you can go out at night.
